@@Vor_Tex_Sun yeah bc he fit the band better. Technical skill wise, Pridgen has some of the most inspired grooves. Theodore's stuff is really good, and he's probably the best fit for QotSA, but when drummers talk TMV tracks that are hard to learn, it's usually Pridgen's.
As an older guy I try to stay current with all genres of music in order to easily interact with all others who love music.I first heard this song six months ago and found it chilling, genuine and above all else was impressed with vocal range of Cedric and the wild drum work.AWESOME!!
Sebastian González thank you! I always search for their full Abby road performance and I'm always so disappointed it gets taken down. This live set should be available to EVERYONE. Their style, performance, and musicianship should be an intro to any music appreciation class anywhere.
,opening song on tour Pompano Beach Amphitheatre, lightning struck the ball at the top of the stage,Maynard came out & said I can't believe none of you moved, sat behind the sound tech on a handrail,,it was loud enough to hit your bones, awesome night other than Paz was m.i.a.,,closed with..😂 the package...trick of lights on stage,,awesome show.
I've noticed that Goliath and Cotopaxi were taken off :/ such a shame, they were always my go to "you should listen to The Mars Volta" videos :( thanks for the upload!
Like, if you just have listened to this song for the very first time (I just did) and found it amazing, at the right time, and when you needed it the most.
So if you watch the video, it looks like the guitarist is telling the drummer to not use so much loud cymbals.....and he acts like he doesn't hear that and is very loud....ignores them when they try to signal to him...it's hilarious
This Omar character strikes me as one of these dudes who's convinced he's a genius. I've played with plenty of these dudes; all he is is a good garage guitar player who can write a melody. He's not a musician.
He solos on the guitar constantly. He writes his own songs in several of his side projects. He performs with passion. He writes melodies. Yeah, you're right, I guess he is still not a musician.
Keep your g string on buddy....I like his music. But I think there is something about musical composition that is out of his grasp. He's obviously a very talented guitar player, and he can put together plenty of catchy riffs. I work with people who compose music on the page. In this respect he's not a musician. But that's no big deal, he's good at what he does. Though he's not the messiah that he thinks he his.
"I work with people who compose music on the page" is the most uptight, elitist bullshit i've heard in a long time. it doesn't take theory to be a musician. just the ability to play. also, last time i checked composer and musician are two different things.
Rest in peace R Isaiah "Ikey" Owens...
WTF? I can't believe it
Alex Collins Is truth... unfortunately Alex
Damn...
Yes #TMR / #JackWhite used him faithfully with his solo albums... a dream for me but OUCH!!!
Absolutely! He cooked it and Cedric ATE every note.
wow mars volta in hd video, thats rare
Do you know were I can find a live version of with twilight as my guide?
Hmmm 🤔 no.
So sad
This is potato by todays standards
god this vocal line is so good.
Thomas Pridgen is a goddamn fucking ANIMAL behind the drums. Holy fucking shit.
He is on another level when it comes to talent. The stuff he does is crazy and he never even looks like he's trying.
The Best drummer of mars volta ! Definily
i love thomas, But the best era of Mars Volta was on jon theodore imo

How do they stack up to other bands you like since it’s been a year now

Sonnie Stevens John Theodore was their 'best' drummer.
Jimi Hendrixx Yea, they should have treated him better and allowed him to reach his full potential. Now he's in a band that does.
If you liked this check out their first ep and full length. To put it lightly, they'll change how you see music forever.
@@alexhennigh5242 -You were so right brother! I like Coheed and Cambria as well...

Perfect band! Toda su discografia es excelente! Saludos desde Coimata, Tarija, Bolivia!
Every lineup of TMV is excellent! The changes it went through, helped it have an evolving sound.
Thomas just tending to his thumb unaware of anything is awesome
One of their best live video recordings!
Get well soon Juan!
I wish their performance of Goliath from this session was still on youtube!

One of the weirdest drum beats ever. Love this song! (Well, I love everything from Volta :D)

Aaah, a song from the album on which they tamed Thomas Pridgen ;)
That was most of octahedron, he pretty much steadily grooves

I almost prefer this over the studio recording
The others The Mars Volta's videos from Abbey Road, do you have them?... It's so hard finding in internet.
A diferencia de los otros 2 videos, en este se ven emputados por los errores que cometieron, no tocaron tan chido.

Y aún así, les quedó chingona
Por qué se ven emputados? Los noto apagados pero normales

ahhh, this was the start of cedric getting fatter and loosing his vocal range. it sounds like i said that with nostalgia
I agree about his vocal range but for me he was at the peak of his beauty that year
I think it made him try harder. I think Nocturniquet was peak Cedric.

Idk about this upcoming reunion. Cedric's vocals weren't even all here in this video. The chorus is wayyyyy off
I thought Pridgen left the band?
this would be awesome if the vocals were louder. i love drums but this is too much

just imagine if Cedric could enunciate all the lyrics live
okay?
Irrelevant. The feeling is there, that's all that matters. If you want to know what he's actually singing lyric book or online.
Too much sticky
Cedric is so bad live.
Love this band and this song but I have to say it. Cedric's vocals were absolutely awful on this. The choruses are especially atrocious.
