I'm a lesbian and I genuinly think women can be attractive at any size (except perhaps morbidly obese/ deadly anorexic). But skinny women are more of a 'trophee'. I think this social capital plays a role in partner choice apart from attractiveness. It's not that fat women are not attractive, but they aren't the social ideal and thus are less desireable when it comes to gaining social capital through your trophee-partner. Not that everyone cares about that, but a lot of men sure do.
Wonderful video. I’ve also fluctuated in my weight a lot - including into the obese rage - and the one thing I’ve always noticed and been hyper aware of, I’m rarely sexually harassed when I weigh more. I should feel comfortable and safe as a smaller size in society.
Thank you for this insightful video! Subscribed! I've always thought that the obsession with putting everything back to evolutionary psychology was a stark oversimiplification.
Cool concepts! The how and the why has always fascinated me, so many possible dynamics 🌀 I would love to look at the astrology of all these collective shifts 😍🌌
I have had major weight fluctuations and am in good shape now. I never understood how people feel that thin equals attractive and fat equals ugly. This is not true at all!
You're forgetting that most "fashions" are driven by women and designers (gay men) and DO NOT reflect what men find inherently attractive. Thus we do not know for certain that certain bodytypes were actually what men found most attractive even at times when they were in fashion. I know for a fact most men do not like tattoos even though those are incredibly popular among women in the west. I've also never heard a man say he wishes his girlfriend would get butt-implants.
It might start there, but it certainly doesn’t end there. There are so many biopsychosocial factors that go into why someone finds something attractive or not. It is not purely random what one finds attractive, and it’s interesting to some to try to dig into what the reasons may be behind attraction.
@@laurenpiercy4014 None of what you said there goes against the idea that attractiveness is subjective. There being variables and multiple underlying factors contributing to what someone finds attractive doesn't make attraction objective.

This is amazing and just what I needed. Best thing to crochet to
You've put so much work into researching this! Amazing!

Attractiveness is subjective. It starts and ends there.

The patriarchy plays a major role in mass exploitation (with everything) 🙆♀️💲.
