@user-zf2yt5hw2o eh, modern music has plenty of depth, you just need to look beyond the chart music mostly, which has never exactly been good. The passage of time generally ensures that the greats get remembered while the generic and pastiche are swiftly forgotten (although, some do manage to succeed on simply being catchy). For every great, there is about a dozen Mr Blobby song, Safety Dance, or Crazy Frog. People will say the same thing in 40 years. I was born in the 90s, and personally, I kinda like the time I was born as I get to appreciate music from the past and the present. I've even seen Gilmour live, not at his peak of course, but still an amazing thing to experience. What I will say about modern music, is there is so much more of it, which means there is an abundance of junk to navigate to find the great stuff. Fortunately, music has never been more accessible, I'm buying records of incredible Japanese musicians who I would have probably not had the privilege to hear had I lived at a previous point in time. Meanwhile, I can still listen to amazing music of the past whenever I want too.
@@jimic111154 Wow, now I am properly jelous! I used to play this in a band as the last number of the night, and it always broiught the house down. I was there the first night when Pink Floyd did their Nassau Coliseum run. What a show! What a night!! Unforgettable. But what I remember most was that friggin disco ball. When that thing burst open during Comfortably Numb it was truly an incredible, dazzling multi-light spectacular sight. Gilmour is the best guitarist on this planet.
I used to think Pompeii was the best version but I have now come to the conclusion that this is the best version of Comfortably Numb. The Solo is just amazing.
I love all David's versions of Comfortably Numb, but there's something about this one that makes it my favorite. I think he was about 42, so at his prime, and all the improvisations are so fresh and perfectly played, plus the band and backup singers are primo. Long live David Gilmour, King of the Strings!
