I was born 1966 - songs like that are anmong the reasons why the 80s were the best years of my life. I am lifelong and overly grateful I could experience them!
I could quite easily name a couple of dozen guitarists who are technically more proficient than Dave Gilmour but I couldn't name a single one who can drag so much raw emotion out of a guitar.
i don't know how david gilmour does it so that this solo is SO perfect all the instruments and that it reaches you emotionally to the point of blurring your eyes, only Pink Floyd can achieve that
This is my favorite Pink Floyd song. When my life turns to scurry, I listen to this song so I do not turn away. This guitar solo by David Gilmoure is hypnotic.
For me this is the best song ever written. Lyrics, music, players... Guy Pratt is simply amazing. One of the best bassists out there, if not the best. Forget Flea and Les, they just beat the strings; Guy pets them. This song rises up to the sky because of the bassline... and Guy. The chorus is... just breathtaking. Machan, Rachel, Durga... Just seeing them supporting the band performance worth the show as a whole. What a class! Nick gives a masterclass about how to make easy the most difficult drumbeats. He's not even sweating! No need to say further about the rest of the buddies on the stage. I could spend the whole day hearing this song over and over again and turning up the volume after each round.
Different genres, different approaches. All of them are great artists, perhaps because Pink Floyd is Prog it doesn`t mean that Red Hot or Primus do not have their value artistically speaking. But, I must say that Pink Floyd has a more `mature` sound because the lenght and arrangement of the songs. You can hear more details and layers in their sound. Plus their songs are made to listen and pay attention, on the contrary side you have Red Hot and Primus that are primarily bands made to get lost during their gigs.
not just me then ! guy fuses notes together like no transition its fluid each note slides into the next effortlessly , skilled beyond belief not many i can think of even near his level on bass! and yes this song is just sublime in everyway ... morbid as it is my funeral song for sure this version DSOT ! my absolute favourite tune by far
And THAT'S how I remember it from Wembley in '88, that solo going on for days..I still didn't want it to end......has me in tears even now...33 years later...thank you dear boy for giving us this!
I was at this exact concert as a 16 year old. I've been to several other Floyd concerts over the years as well as a host of pop and rock and country music concerts. Nothing, in my mind, has even come close to The Pink Floyd 1988 DSOT tour. The right people, the right stage talent, the right production crew, the right tour manager, the right stage manager, the right technology, the right lighting, the right audio to visual coordination. Hands down nothing in musical history will ever come close again to Pink Floyd in this moment in time. I was fortunate and blessed to see this with my own eyes and hear it with my own ears. We shall never see the likes of them again.
I totally agree with everything you said. Everyone says that P.U.L.S.E. is the greatest Floyd show, but I think this it better. Don't get me wrong, I think P.U.L.S.E is amazing. I saw the P.U.L.S.E show live 3 times in 94, when I was 19, but I never got to see the DSOT shows. I wish I could have, but I was a little to young at the time. I discovered Pink Floyd right after these tours ended. Still the best concert I've ever seen. I saw Roger Waters Wall Tour twice and that was pretty awesome too, it was missing Gilmour though. But that's another story. GIlmours guitar tone is better on this than P.U.L.S.E., the lighting is just right, not to little and not to much, and he seemed to be more into his solos as well. The Turning Away , Sorrow, and Comfortably Numb solos were so much better on this tour. I think a big reason for that is they were Coke fuled during this time., and not during the Division Bell tour. Something changed between those tours because Gilmour was on fire on this tour. Theres phrases in the solos I haven't heard since. He was still awesome during the Division Bell shows, but something was different. I wore this VHS tape, and the double CD out when I was in High School. It's great to see and hear it in such high quality now. It's like hearing it for the first time again.
Jesus, this is a whole new experience🤩! I love how the backing singers have been moved to the forefront of the song. They really shine! And Guy Pratt's bass is just outstanding!
So glad you've liked it and thank you very much for the kind comment!. Well, here nor the backing singers or Guy weren't moved to forefront of the song really, what happens in that PF deleted their channels or just edited them for the official releases; this is the REAL live performance back then, without it's post-processing nor studio re-recorded channels/instruments. I invite you to give the description below a check for more information regarding what I've did here. Cheers!
nick mason on those drums with his timing is superb also ..! but what an amazing experience and hard work with the whole structure this band had offered..you just don't get music like this anymore.
No denying this was wonderfully done!! ❤❤❤ My only quibble would be the vocal echo during the 1st verse,... I found it distracting... but, then comes the rest and my inner voice saying "oh shut up and enjoy it!!"
Happy you've enjoyed it. As I wrote in the description, back in the time when i did this one, the delay in the first part was a particular decision but after testing a lot of sound variables (included a non-delay version), i felt that this was the best (and still do). For the 5.1 surround version I'll work it differently (closer to my original idea, here limitated by the stereo single channel). Cheers and thanks for the comment!
My favorite Floyd era, David, Richard and Nick plus Guy Pratt Rachel and a host of others. The mix bringing out the ladies is superb instead of relinquishing them to background noise, they are as instrumental as Ricks fabulous beds both giving David the atmosphere to do what he does better than anyone else. This is one of those Gilmore solos that I wish would not end. I just want to loop it over and over again.
I'm happy to have a Pink Floyd fan like you. Thank you for the precious contents. I'll look forward to the next video. Your videos will also be delivered to Pink Floyd fans 100 or 200 years later. Huge Respect from south korea. ❤️

Saw the DSoT tour and I couldn't believe how amazing it was (and I've been to Lots of concerts) they came back to a near by city a few months later and I went again and yes, it was amazing... Pink Floyd = Best Ever.
Ok...who else is jamming in their seat 80's style, or better yet brave enough to just get up and straight up dance like you did at this show? Ya? 😁😁. Thank you Obi! ✌🎶🎸🎶💎

Magnificent. I love this track and the extended instrumental part is part of the pleasure of seeing them live... I saw them at least twice playing this tune, i guess.
This is absolutely ****ing epic. Dave's solo plus the backing singers improvised parts takes this song into another universe. The crowd roar at the end says it all.
Glad you've liked it! Anyway keep in mind that the audio crowd ambience was added by me to match the format, even though and as you just mentioned this version strenght and details takes you to another level, personally I prefer this over the official so far. Cheers and thanks for the comment!
These do a beautiful job of putting the viewer inside the concert experience, and they seem to do it effortlessly--which I can only assume is due to a truly sickening amount of work. What an absolute joy to watch!
Indeed; anyway keep in mind that this in not tha official/commercial release, this is a video and soundtrack adaptation I made. Happy weekend and thanks fr commenting.
Saw them when I was 18 back in ‘88 in the Pontiac Silverdome. Never topped that concert even after seeing The TragicallyHip many times, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seger, Alice Cooper, To many to remember. Floyd was always and will remain the best concert I have ever seen live.
Although RW was not involved during this time, This album and tour did not disappoint. This has to be my favorite song and every aspect of it is perfect. The rhythm, guitar, bass and drums and last but not least the lyrics have a deep meaning and substance which is as relevant today as it was then. One of the all time greatest songs in my humble opinion. Thank you for sharing this with the world.

This is absolutely stellar. You recrafted something from the stratosphere to start, and somehow, as an audience member, have taken us deeper into Floyd. Which based off the comments, it’s cool to learn this is more like the footage and sound that was originally used. I’ve seen the regular video many times. But in this one, when David’s first guitar solo begins, it cuts right in, FULL CHARGE. The sound and video editing choices, as a whole, are raw and profound. Excellent work.
Happy you liked this one and yes, their live sound was quit different from the original soundtrack used for the 2019/20 restored version. I'm working to bring more "episodes" to this series of videos. Thank you very much for taking your time to comment and the kind words, happy 2024!
Uff this took me three weeks of insane work so your words rewards my no sleep hours! And yeah i'm yet into another insane work, if everything goes well you'll can see it very soon! Thanks once again for your words, cheers!
@@TheForce_Productions That's a fair amount of time to spend on one video, well done for making such a great one, the effort is definitely worthwhile, i'm sure everyone will agree. Shine On my friend and thanks for the great, quality content 😃
Thank you so very much for sharing this, it's my favorite song from from Pink Floyd! And I have to admit, it brings tears to my eyes and has influenced me to think more of other's whom are less fortunate. Thank you again. Godspeed my friend. ✌️
I have often thought this would also be a wonderful anthem citing the tragedy of homeless animals - dogs in particular - on the streets of the world. 😭
I think the perfect Floyd song would be, some cool lights in the beginning, about 45 seconds of some kind of meaningful words, and then 3 hours of Gilmour just dropping the hammer all over that guitar.
Glad you liked it! Each version has it's ups and downs, anyway I love this one with it's dry sound character still there. Thanks for the comment, and cheers!
Me alegro que te haya gustado Diego, viene más en camino, ahora mismo se está cocinando... Saludos y gracias a vos, (tambien desde Argentina), por pasar y comentar!
Absolutely agree! That's a UA-cam coutesy, not me. If you're running on android, you should give "Vanced" a try, that way you'll get rid of all of these unwanted junk. Cheers!
May I just say, as a very critical Pink Floyd fan.

Still not long enough
David Gilmore is one of very few guitarists who can take metal strings and talent and speak cosmically to the human soul without saying a word.
❤
That’s my word for his sound. ~~~ Cosmic!
This is my favorite Pink Floyd song. When my life turns to scurry, I listen to this song so I do not turn away.
This guitar solo by David Gilmoure is hypnotic.
Mine too! Standing in front of David doing this twice during the ‘87-‘88 DSOT tours was the ultimate experience out of 50+ years of concerts!
For me this is the best song ever written. Lyrics, music, players...

Yep, 8/8/88 Manchester, first of 4 times I'd see them live. That and the solo from Comfortably Numb seemed to go on for hours. Absolutely amazing.
That is how it sounded at Docklands, so much more organic. And I still want to marry Margaret Taylor.
Yep Wembley, I woz there
Was also at Manchester 8/8/88 what a show agree with you that David's solos went on for ages not that I'm complaining ❤️😂
Jaw dropping, neck hair standing out, outrageously mesmerizing. This song absolutely blows me away

The album & tour that really got me into the Floyd. DSOT is a great live album, this song and the visuals/lasers are brilliant.
So happy to hear the backup voices and the organ more than the original mix
Cut their performances in the way they did for the official release is literally going against art, their producers use to do weird things.
So good. That last section was absolutely epic! Thanks for sharing.

I can't believe how crisp the sound is. So beautiful.
It was a lot of work, I recommend you to give Run Like Hell from this same series a check, which was the first 5.1 surround edition as well. Cheers!

May Pink Floyd be glorious!
I am a Japanese Pink Floydist
I have often thought this would also be a wonderful anthem citing the tragedy of homeless animals - dogs in particular - on the streets of the world. 😭
I think the perfect Floyd song would be, some cool lights in the beginning, about 45 seconds of some kind of meaningful words, and then 3 hours of Gilmour just dropping the hammer all over that guitar.
you spelled 3 days wrong
So what if they did. You a English major
Listening on Headphones with Windows Sonic. Incredible job you've done here to recreate that live spacial acoustic. Great job.
So happy you liked it, thank you for the comment!
Damn! They really did not do justice to these songs with the new remixes. Great work!
Glad you liked it! Each version has it's ups and downs, anyway I love this one with it's dry sound character still there. Thanks for the comment, and cheers!
Thats is a greast material. Excellent. Congratulation y thanks from Argentina.

Pink Floyd is nothing without Gilmore, I don't care what anyone else says
But Roger is Genius two.
WOW!
Hey there! Thank you very much!
What a beautifull song & extended version!!!
I love it when Margareta does Her thing, Awesome Vocals,, They found the Best. Rachel Durgma and Margareta... Never seen before !
Putting a UA-cam ad in the middle of a David Gilmour guitar solo should be punishable by jail time.
Absolutely agree! That's a UA-cam coutesy, not me. If you're running on android, you should give "Vanced" a try, that way you'll get rid of all of these unwanted junk. Cheers!
You're the best, man! Thanks for this!
Happy you've enjoyed this, thank you for your words!
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Obi-Wan now that’s a name I have not heard in a long time. Long time
