Vigilance is also very helpful on its own because slivers are automatic archenemies. You will get swung at repeated unless you leave blockers up, and you dont want to hold back from hitting vulnerable players because you want to reduce their life to 0 sooner rather than later. Vigilance let's you swing and keep key blockers. Shame there are only 2 vigilencr slivers and the second is severely overcosted at cmc 5.
Contrary to the popular belive that you can control the Hivemind, the reallity is that the Hivemind controls you into thinking you control it... Awesome video guys!!!
I play a green centric 5 color sliver deck that kills. In commander by turn 5 or 6, all my creature and all my lands are slivers. By turn 8 or 9 the entire world is overrun. I turn all my opponents creatures and lands into slivers too and steal them until all they're left with are artifacts and enchantments and as soon as I've gathered enough power, I unleash SLIVERGEDDON! Yeah pretty much no one wants to play against that deck.
Sliver Queen, Mana Echos, and 2 mana of any color creates an infinite amount of colorless mana. No reducers required Also Sliver Hivelord is the only 5/5. The rest are WUBRG 7/7s
Don’t under appreciate vigilance in an attack build. As a sliver deck especially you will be the target and allowing yourself to attack with your horde without leaving yourself open is huge in edh. Any attack build that can add vigilance is just improved.
Fun Fact: There are only five Slivers with more than one of the same mana symbol (Banding Sliver, Plague Sliver, Pulmonic Sliver, Sliv-Mizzet, Hivemind, and Telekinetic Sliver) and only two of them are playtest cards (no points for guessing)! Anyways, I've been enjoying these tribal videos a lot; looking forwards to Angels even though there's almost no support. :(

I want to collect all the slivers and unleash their power lol. This was a very informative video and now i gotta find a chromatic lantern and Training Ground lol
This came as a Godsent. I've been out of the game for a couple of years and been looking for information to build a First Sliver tribal commander deck. Ironically, there isn't as much information as everyone makes it to be
I'm super late here but clot sliver is an auto include becuse of crysteline sliver preventing targeting and clot being the only regen effect that does not target, sedge is better but slivers can be on the slow side when playing high tier commander decks so that 1 mana can really matter. This also means most high cost slivers other then lords are tough to run. Intruder alarm is aamzing in slivers as well. I have played slivers for seven years but always combo focused. Having all 5 lords let's me beat people through power as well. Root sliver i don't recall being mentioned, uncounterable slivers are nice. Also since slivers do everything creature wise mostly. Dovescape is so much fun
Slivers aren't just limited to the 4 commanders listed. WUBRG slivers are extremely hard to power down to casual levels. It's a fun challenge to drop a color or two and assemble a working deck.
TheXasti they aren’t force to be those commanders but you really don’t have many other options. I would say it is rather easy to power down slivers. If you go more of a combat damage route than combo the deck already becomes weak to boards. Remove the 3 and 4 card combos and you have a solid 60 to 70% deck.
@@NitpickingNerds That's where the challenge in deckbuilding comes in. You find a commander to assist the plan without having to be a Sliver themselves.
YAAAAAY! I just bought every sliver my LGS had and don’t know which commander to use or which ones to play hahah thank u for this vid! Liking before I even watch it!
I love tribal decks! I love them SO much that (before I learned of Slivers) I've built and played Zombies, Goblins, Elves, Merfolk, Dragons and Vampires before. I had all those decks and the only one I still play because of how fun and out of control they are is Vanpires, helmed by the infamous Edgar Markov. Then I built Slivers commanded by The First Sliver. I realized they're even more fun and out of control as Vampires, due to the massive synergy. TFS swarms the board better than any other Sliver tribal commander and that's exactly what they want to do. Swarm and overwhelm. My playgroup hates it bc it's currently 15 wins to 0 losses. Well beyond Edgar's win rate. Edgar's still my close second.
@@bcarraway1 I actually meant the Sliver Overlord, not Hivelord. So many Lords... So thanks for the correction. If you have Intruder Alarm, Slivers can play their whole deck with a haste and "tap for mana" sliver (both can be searched up by the commander). Same thing with Mana Echoes. Both cards fuel the Overlord's ability to search up even more slivers (which in turn generate more mana and/or untap the team). Queen goes infinite with both as well, but can't search up the missing pieces on their own. Both cards (Intruder Alarm and Mana Echoes) are centerpieces of combo wins in Slivers and should not be missed in a "Complete Guide".
Best sliver ever: Telekinetic sliver: All slivers have "tap this creature: tap target permanent". Use it at the start of your opponents turn to tap all their lands so they never have mana!
Just curious if you will be doing more tribal guides. I really enjoy them and would love to see some for wurms, centaurs, insects, and more. Keep up the awesome videos
There are three artifact slivers, but I'm a little saddened that mesmeric sliver was not mentioned..... Why not fateseal with every sliver entering the battlefield
I've actually been considering building a black/red sliver deck with Grenzo as commander (with a couple of staple Grenzo cards in there, of course...). Mana Echoes = win
@@NitpickingNerds Well, he's a super efficient commander for creature decks: he can just rip them out super fast. Your hand doesn't matter a bit, so you don't really have to have a bunch of draw or even ramp really. And once you finagle Mana Echoes or one of the many unlimited mana combos out, you basically drop every sliver into play. It wasn't for cEDH or anything, just an idea tossed around during kitchen table a while back...
so one thing i noticed you guys are thinking about the infinite combo with basal and queen to much you don't need to make her ability cost less or to bring back your creatures. this combo is obviously gonna be easier with overlord because with him it can happen every game> 1. mana weft/Gem hide they have to be on the field to get a sliver deck running the best it can anyways, what you want to do though is play basal and queen next and you can tutor for them with overlord and play them and if you have something like Cloud shredder where they have haste you can tap to create a sliver from queen it has haste so tap it get one of any floating because of mana/gem then sac that to basal now you have 3 mana you use 2 to create a sliver to queen and you have one floating and you repeat however many times you want and since they have haste swing them all. its better with trading grounds because it makes overlord and queens ability cheaper, and another thing is if you, mana ramp enough and play morphon next turn you can play Cloud shredder and queen for free and then just pay 2 colorless for basal. that is my buddy's infinite in his overlord deck it's pretty sweet. I'm going to combo off with a first sliver deck with things like profane tutor and inevitable betrayal and well enough said on that one its pretty self-explanatory.
note: when you go infinite it's worth it to go get quick sliver and play it then anything that happens you can search and play a sliver and instant speeds life for instance lava belly sliver counters a soul warden and you gain the life, and that person doesn't that is just another reason as to why slivers are annoying. shadow sliver really sucks i mean you can't block anyone like Ya you are unlockable but so is everyone else to you plus if you go infinite you are unlockable anyways.
add jegantha means lose mana echos, which for me is the only double pipped casting cost card in my deck. Hard trade to sell with how fast that combos off with the queen.
Back in 2001 I was introduced to Magic Gathering My friends older brother gave him a bunch of his old cards and he wanted someone to learn to play with so he asked me and gave me a bunch of cards to choose from and as I was looking through the box I found a copy of gemhide sliver that was like these just look like the aliens from the movie Alien that I love so much from watching with my uncle so I built deck we started playing I beat him 6 times in a row and he was like okay you can have them and then I just started playing with them and I kept on getting more from the local card shop using money I got for holiday gift or doing odd jobs around my neighborhood for my neighbors and then stop playing for a while because all my other friends got into Yu-Gi-Oh but I kept all my cards 2012 my friend who got me into magic originally said he was giving it up so he gave me his collection he had a bunch of other ones in there that I really wanted or needed and then 2014 2015 comes around slivers are reintroduced into standard so I start playing again and then in 2017 I'm introduced to Commander and I told I can use cards from any ERA with a very small banlist and none of my slivers are banned and because I needed more tribal based cards I pick up the 2017 five color Dragon deck and pump my deck up more and then during that summer while I'm working at The Ren Faire a bunch of my coworkers and I end up playing after work one day all five of us are playing sliver decks and in my decks first-ever official game I end up winning thanks to hibernation sliver and then blowing it up using necrotic and proceeded to win the game thanks to master Warcraft because I decide which creatures attack in which creatures can or cannot block and so I make it so none of my opponent Block and ever since then it's the only deck I have in Commander that I don't take apart other than to upgrade the rest of them I take apart to build other decks but slivers are my baby and I leave them alone except to like I said upgrade or play

The sliver premium deck is probably in the top 4 best pre con decks BEFORE challenger decks. And you COULD win some FNM games if you played smart. Bring another deck though so people don't call you a Timmy. I reccomend an elf deck or red deck wins! Show everyone how UNTIMMYISH YOU ARE!!!!!!
Jegantha is nice as a companion but you miss out on some very important pieces then, like Mana Echos for combo or triumph of the hordes for closing out games through combat. I like to play Jegantha in the 99, still great there. :) Try Golos as a Sliver commander as well, he fixes the mana you need and can be a backup for rebuilding because slivers are very vulnerable to board wipes. Keep up the good work even if you don’t like the coolest tribe of all time ! 😉
Just starting playing commander and was curious how viable slivers could be at a store that plays mostly casual games. Back in the day I saw a combo of sliver queen and mana echos, probably worth a copy in the combo variant
I'm wondering the same. Coming in with some knowledge of commander etiquette, I'd suggest holding back the power level of the deck. Avoid a ton of fast mana like 0-1 cost mana rocks and Alpha Duals, don't play a ton of fetches, and keep away from the more competitive Slivers like the fateseal Sliver or The First Sliver. Another fun suggestion is to pick up a bunch of extra vanilla Slivers or Plague Slivers to give your friends a silver bullet against you in their 99.
hey, I don't think you can steal anything with amoeboid and hive lord I'm no expert but don't think that's it lol. dryad chromatic another to mention is the world tree it's still nice to have. Jegatha is what I was watching this for I think I will be using that now if that is all I get from this I will happy. turns out I did not the hearthstone and Zirda I did not know about, knew trading grounds, not the other two so pretty sick thank you guys for the video I indeed learned something.
I love slivers sucks my one my favorite sliver called pulmonic sliver didn't get talked bout since has great ability where All Sliver creatures have flying. All Slivers have "If this permanent would be put into a graveyard, you may put it on top of its owner's library instead so u shouldn't deck out that easy
So for slivers there are so many ways to play it. Combo from my experience is weaker. My favorite "not" sliver is chameleon Colossus it is a terrifying thing on the field any tribal deck that has green I think should run it.
Definitely! I think those were two cards we mentioned in our initial tribal video where we talk about payoffs that are good no matter what tribe you're in

the sliver hate is very apparent because they have no idea on some these slivers they left out some of the best ones and others they didn't even read the cards correctly
With crystalline out and the indestructible sliver and overlord with root sliver so Slivers can't be countered i play conspiracy name Sliver so all the rest of my monsters are slivers and now i pay 3 to search for Platinum Angel er my bad Platinum Sliver and you better hope i don't have Force of Will/ Pact of Negation/Force of Negation to get rid of your cyclonic rift on its overload cost as the next card i shall search for is the green one that was in my uncles angel griffon deck that makes it where i don't have to sacrifice creatures Tajuru Preserver thats the name 1 and a green for a 2/1 that says "Spells and abilities that your opponents control can't cause you to sacrifice permanents" basically as close as possible to a unbreakable board for Slivers as even if i grant player hexproof yes it exist Ivory Mask is a good example it says "You can't be the target of spells or abilities" wait thats shroud Orbs of Warding would be a better option as it literally gives you hexproof. Though if you wanna be fancy just call out Sigarda, Heron's Grace and turn her into a Sliver she literally gives you hexproof or Aegis of the Gods two white mana for a creature that literally gives the controller hexproof, so again its semi unbreakable as remove all effects or even affect all effects would still hit so give a crap ton of -1/-1 counters kill all the creatures or Gedion champion of justice pop ult exile all other permanents so unless they have Stifle or Mirror of Fate they can't get that board state back. And Mirror of Fate you chose up to 7 cards from exile then exile the rest of your deck and put those chosen cards in any order as your new deck High Risk High Reward card as when you play it its a either you lose if you don't or you lose if you fail type of card example) you endless whisper Phage the Untouchable to a enemy since that counts as enters the battlefield under their control its ETB triggers killing them as they did not cast it from their hand or have a card that negates ETB effects so it instantly gets exiled with no chance of returning to your command zone as i don't think you could choose since it was not under your control so it had no legal targets to return to once the person lost to the ETB (correct me if i am wrong) but which means Mirror of Fate get it back draw it and either endless whisper it to the other person by killing it again or give it haste and attack them directly as you are losing the turn after as no cards left to draw so its literally your last ditch effort to win. Phage as commander is really fun as again there are ways to cancel out the ETB from ever triggering or you could just command beacon it to your hand and cast it that way thus not worrying about the ETB to begin with and you could get the deck level to 9 which if 1-4 turn wins is level 10 as in top competitive around 4-7 or 4-8 is level 9 the lowest number is the earliest it can win or if talking about stax the earliest it can set up the lock down. Keep in mind these are usually the nature of cEDH as in 1v1's and mostly the numbers mean unhindered as in real games you don't know what the enemies are going to do or play counters like Force of will turn 1 to counter your mana rock from entering giving them the advantage in mana as they play their mana rock next but the best way to find out how consistently your deck can win is goldfish literally as you do that again to see how fast your deck unhindered by the enemy can consistently hit its win con as fast as possible anything that takes 14+ turns is level 6 and below not really worth knowing as at some point you get to jank levels where you are not even trying to win just to play a theme basically. Levels 1-2 are Jank, 3-4 Casual, 5-6 Focused which are the majority these days, 7-8 optimized, 9-10 competitive and what i mean by Jank level is you have to intentionally do it example chair tribal deck every card in the deck aside from lands has to have a chair in the artwork though their can be really good Jank decks sometimes 7-8 or even 9-10 on the scale but usually they are a weird theme or they just tell a story and don't even try to win most of the time if they do they do as everyone else just killed each other. Also i have seen people play cEDH in groups with the full on politicking the regular EDH has and that looks really fun with high power decks as you don't know who is going to win and the games are usually fast and rarely you can find turn 0 decks mostly at tournaments as no one would run them elsewhere since they are not fun to play or against and a lot of people actually play cEDH for fun and some even run Budget cEDH decks where the max cost could be around $20-40 USD not counting if you are using a foil of any kind of course as those usually makes the price of decks skyrocket and warp a lot of people's opinion on how strong a deck is as a deck does not have to cost a lot to be competitive and there are a lot of cards in magic's library that does not cost a lot at all and they are very strong. In fact my Chandra Goblin burn actually costed in total $20 USD and it literally can compete with cEDH decks as burn decks are always good even in commander
You can tell you guys really don’t like slivers because you’re putting no effort or enthusiasm into this at all just like I’ve never seen it this bad just trying to get through it and it shows and your showman and you should know better

Watching these guys reminds me of the tomba speedrunner and the annoying guy who sat next to him at that GDQ way back when
Sliver Queen, hearthstone, heart sliver, gemhide = infinite slivers, add psionic for damage, quick for instant slivers, necrotic for destruction,
I need a good companion species to Slivers. I don't have enough of them to make a whole sliver deck, it would be very creature small
Changelings/shapeshifters.
Morophon + Hibernation Sliver + Essence Sliver + Lavabelly Sliver = infinite damage and infinite lifegain
sliver hive is a free add in 5c slivers
Jegantha is nice as a companion but you miss out on some very important pieces then, like Mana Echos for combo or triumph of the hordes for closing out games through combat.
I like to play Jegantha in the 99, still great there. :)
Try Golos as a Sliver commander as well, he fixes the mana you need and can be a backup for rebuilding because slivers are very vulnerable to board wipes.
Keep up the good work even if you don’t like the coolest tribe of all time ! 😉
What is this companion ability?
You could have also included Biomancer's Familiar in with the category of reducing activated abilities
Glad we have so many options for that effect now, instead of having to rely on training grounds
I love the hivelord
We love you!
Sacrificing slivers is sacrilege
Haha necrotic sliver go boom
How does the gemhide and other mana tapping one give things haste to turn sideways? Asking for a friend 😝
hey, I don't think you can steal anything with amoeboid and hive lord I'm no expert but don't think that's it lol. dryad chromatic another to mention is the world tree it's still nice to have. Jegatha is what I was watching this for I think I will be using that now if that is all I get from this I will happy. turns out I did not the hearthstone and Zirda I did not know about, knew trading grounds, not the other two so pretty sick thank you guys for the video I indeed learned something.
what tribal guide will be next??
Spiteful Sliver + few other slivers + blasphemous act.....? You can win the game with that
I love slivers sucks my one my favorite sliver called pulmonic sliver didn't get talked bout since has great ability where All Sliver creatures have flying.
All Slivers have "If this permanent would be put into a graveyard, you may put it on top of its owner's library instead so u shouldn't deck out that easy
I would rather have praetor's grasp and grand abolisher then jegantha, but fair I suppose
So for slivers there are so many ways to play it. Combo from my experience is weaker. My favorite "not" sliver is chameleon Colossus it is a terrifying thing on the field any tribal deck that has green I think should run it.
What's with the tension between these two?
Door of destiny is good or arcane adaptation to make your nonsilvers, slivers
Definitely! I think those were two cards we mentioned in our initial tribal video where we talk about payoffs that are good no matter what tribe you're in
@@NitpickingNerds Great vid. My first time seeing your work. Instant 👍 and Subscribe! Might even do Patreon. In the meantime, maybe you can update this video with all the new changelings in Kaldheim (also maskwood nexus and Esika) and the Pests from Strix...
I had to take Telekinetic Sliver and pulmonic sliver out of my deck to run Jegantha
Does nobody consider Morophon as the pilot of a sliver deck? Casting all the WUBRG slivers for free? kinda bonkers
Morophon + Fist of Sun's and GG
The dude on the left seems like such a great person. I feel like I would actually want to play MTG with him. He seems so warm and wholesome. Dude on the right seems like he is homeschooled and feeds into why these sorts of 'nerdy' or generally unpopular sources of entertainment get a bad wrap. Dude on the left; do you need help? Blink 3 times in a row if you need help and cant say so openly.
I learn to play against that sliver deck lol
pulmonic sliver is 2white, telekinetic sliver is 2blue, that's all i have
the sliver hate is very apparent because they have no idea on some these slivers they left out some of the best ones and others they didn't even read the cards correctly
Clot Sliver is superior to Crypt Sliver when you have Crystalline Sliver in play.
These guys seem like they hate each other
what about the first sliver?
Actually uhhh liegon theres 5
What? No Aluren?
Pulmonic Sliver has WW in mama cost but it is not very good :)
Ew, why is the art so gross? Lol
I like the videos, i hate disclaimers xD
Without them we would surely be sued for our extraordinary claims!
12:00.. you guys sh*t on vigilance...
... sentinel sliver is the best sliver ever made.
Joe can't tell the difference between 5 and 2. He flipped them so many times in this video.
You can tell you guys really don’t like slivers because you’re putting no effort or enthusiasm into this at all just like I’ve never seen it this bad just trying to get through it and it shows and your showman and you should know better
Fifty-second
I don't think there have been that many comments yet XD
Third
Nicely done
