For the first time ever on our channel we test a motorbike! Putting a 2019 Indian Springfield head to head against the Morgan 3 Wheeler.
These wonderful pair of V-twin cruisers that both originated from the beginning of the last century, have more in common than you may initially think and we enjoyed cruising in the countryside and causing a stir at the seaside.
This video certainly put a smile on our faces and as Tiff Needell said, makes us want to head out to Route 66 to do it all again, so next time it'll be in the sunshine!

I'd have to say the Morgan. This video put a big smile on my face and I wasn't even driving! It was a lot of fun to see you two driving, or in this case riding, something a little different. The company across from my office has Indian as a client, and they often have custom bikes in the lobby. Thank you for lifting my Monday.
Very difficult to decide. Both machines are seriously desirable for me. But since I don't properly know how to control a bike, I'd go for the Morgan.
Exactly why I bought a HD Road King Special, who cares about top speeds and unusable power. It’s all about the thrill and how it makes you feel. Pure perfection

I own that exact motorcyle. It is brilliant. My wife and I just circumnavigated the USA returning through Canada over 6 months. It is a serious touring machine. Great video.

Brilliant video. I’m really missing my bike, Bandit 1200, but watching the pair of you was literally a breath of fresh air. No Pier Pressure needed to have an ice cream 🍦. Lol naughty tiff. Great video again guys. Love it got me wondering if I can import a Morgan here now. They sure look fun and better looking than the other 3 wheelers out there today. Ie. slingshot ect. To me that Morgan has character just sitting there.

To say thst current Indian motorcycle company is from 1901 is a bit of a stretch, they are owned polaris, that until recently prodused Victory motorcycles, feels like a lot of manufactured heritage
I remember all the legal wrangling that was going on a few years back as to who was the legal owner of the name Indian. Don’t know if it was ever sorted out. There was a company in NZ, Kiwi Motorcycles who were remanufacturing the early Indian parts also, I spent hours drooling over their catalogue.

That beautiful Indian Springfield makes me feel kinda funny, like when we used to climb the rope in gym class.
EDIT: Pleased to report that I'm a proud owner of a stunning 2019 Indian Springfield in that same steel gray and metallic burgundy. Cruiser heaven, all day, every day.
I have a feeling Tiff is actually a great rider and would be just fine on anything lol.

Today, in the US, you can buy anyone of several 3 wheeled cars with modern suspension and engines for about 25% of the cost of a new morgan

The Indian and Morgan history is so similar it suited the story better. Hopefully will test a Triumph soon 👍
Also both are V-Twins and Triumph only do triples and parallel twins.

No big burly biker in America riding on an Indian would ever say "I fancy an ice cream." They would still want to get some of course, they just wouldn't say it like that. Have to keep up a reputation you know. I personally would choose the Indian, just something about cruising with the open road in front of you.

Why is the UK 3-wheeler so weak compared to the export version?
homologation
It is because of the emission compliance requirements. There are two standards that Morgan must comply with, EU 3 and EU 4. EU 4 is stricter than 3, so vehicles are detuned to comply. However, EU 3 had different standards for passenger cars and for motorcycles, and the motorcycle standard evidently meets the US emissions standards for vehicles that will be registered as motorcycles. Therefore, US (and other export markets, including some of Europe) meets their compliance requirements with the looser EU 3 tuning, and thus, they have higher power (and emissions) outputs.
