As a Brit 🇬🇧 glad you got to enjoy one of our great historical hand built car brands. This isn’t the only type they build but they still use the original coach build methods used in yester years. Sticking the S&S motor in was a brilliant idea for them 🇬🇧🔥🤘😎👍🔥🇬🇧
But it's not a car...Clearly states that it is defined as a motorcycle because it has three wheels. That is why the Can am Spyder is defined as a motorcycle, it's due to the 3 wheels.
Morgan a few years ago had a major upgrade, they rot proofed the chassis with cuprinol! More seriously, they are the ultimate niche manufacturer. They have tried to have updated models in their range, never caught on. If you want a 1930's roadster, they still make them!
Just for anyone interested, Morgan 3 wheelers are actually cars! Loads of character and great fun to drive, so I believe. They are made in Malvern, Worcestershire and only about 30 to 40 minutes drive from my home and you can go around the factory, it's fascinating and well worth it if you visit the UK.
Legally speaking it very much depends which country for count as a car or bike... I live in Taiwan/am a Taiwan citizen. Here 3 wheels with a bike style steering we can license it as a bike, with a car steering wheel forget about it... you can't get registration. Just one example but I know many other countries decide differently if this is a bike or a car.
You get a pretty solid split with MW3 owners. About half the owners wrench the other half don’t even touch the car. Unfortunately a large majority of 3 owners don’t even drive the cars. At least over here in the states.
@@spencers4121 You would be surprised with 3 wheeler owners. A huge lot of us have taken the car part many times over. If you purchase one your gonna have to fix and upgrade things no matter what. The guys who don’t know that coming in just don’t drive them much.
I know it’s not as fast as some of the other 3 wheelers but this one is at top of my bucket list. LOVE the old school look and engine out front reminds me of WW1 airplanes.
Usually I think three wheelers are a little goofy, but I've always loved these things. I see one driving around where I live occasionally, always wanted to get a chance to talk to the driver but we're always going different directions. It does need an RAF Spitfire paintjob in my opinion, but I'm a turbo nerd.
I have a red Morgan with the Spitfire logos, I can honestly say that I have never had a negative reaction from anyone. It always draws a crowd wherever I go.
Niche market, and high price point. And looks like they just stopped production of the 3 wheeler. This isn't hate, I would love to have one. But the price even used is beyond me, for a "toy".
From my experience working at a motorcycle dealership, it's not only titled as motorcycle because it has three wheels. A salesman explained to me once that it also has to weigh less than a certain amount to be considered a motorcycle. Morgan's, vanderhalls, and slingshots all meet this requirement. And yes, even though it drives like a car, a driver without a motorcycle endorsement on their license can get tickets or have the vehicle impounded if stopped while driving this. Depending on the officer, the violation and local laws of course.
I think I saw this Morgan in Austin, TX last week or so...I was on a BMW HP4 and gave you a big thumbs up! Cheers if it was - cheers if it wasn't all the same!
I want one. My Granddad had an Original and it was a beast. Us Grand kids loved it. A lucky builder took it away decades later as a freebie!!!! I was heart broken as i wanted it.
there's actually a vehicle in mario kart 8 deluxe that pays homage to this, called the "Tri-Speeder". it's a personal favourite and it's got some really impressive stats. and looks really cool, like a sort of mario-fied Morgan: the part of the engine where the two mushroom shaped cylinders coincide is shaped and patterned like a mystery block tilted to the right by 25 degrees.
can't get over go cart height of this.I wished they made them little taller more suspension travel. It looks like you'll feel every little irregularity of the road just like Go carts.
A common misconception is that the chassis is made from wood, but no, the chassis is made from steel, and the frame for the body panels is made from Ash
You won't believe how fast these Morgan Cycle Cars are, they might look a bit of a joke but you better take them seriously is you want to have a tear up with one
A Morgan is on my bucket list to own one day!! My wife says that when I retire it is going to be one of those or a boat.... but not both.... I have some time to think about it...lol.
Go for the Morgan. "Boat" is an acronym for "break out another thousand", and is defined as a hole in the water that you constantly have to fill with money...
That looks cool, and I bet it was a blast. However, anything with a steering wheel, in my opinion, is NOT a motorcycle, but simply a three wheeled car. But hey, fun is fun, right?
Sean, have you ridden the 114 M8 Breakout yet, I’ve seen a review from the 103 from you. I just got one, it’s pure class with V&H pipes and a V&H fuel pack 3 fitted
If I ever come into some money I’m buying one! There is a Morgan dealership about 2 miles up the road from me. I have to avoid the place because I can’t afford one.
The M3W is hugely improved by throwing away those useless Avon sidecar tyres on the front and fitting either Blockley tyres or as I do, the 4.00 x 19 Excelsior Competition H tyres made for racing vintage Bugattis. These are designed for car use not sidecars and have much stiffer sidewalls, which don't tuck under like the Avons do. The steering is massively better and the kick-back is also reduced. I also have fitted better shock absorbers back and front and a lot of the Garage 56 parts (exhaust, ECU and air intake) to make my early version (2012) run better in the hot weather in the south of France, where it lives. It is an absolute hoot to drive and makes everyone smile but in reality has been a nightmare of unreliability over the 12,000 kilometres mine has done during 9 years.
Shame they went for the Miata gearbox instead of a sequential motorcycle type. Of course that would have been trickier to engineer due to the orientation of the engine.
@@johnnytenjobs Morgan could have put a transverse gearbox after the X-Trac bevel box, which sits just behind the seats but there may be too much inertia of the weight of the vehicle (450kg) for longevity of a drum change dog clutch gearbox. The Mazda gearbox OTOH is the ONLY part of my Morgan Three Wheeler which has not given any trouble at all, so I would say not to change it.
Not sure if they are available in France but I run the Michelin Commanders on mine and wow talk about a difference from the Avon’s. So so much grip now.
@@loganfutbol21 I prefer to run car type flat tread, cross ply, competition tyres on the front of the Morgan. I have a local friend in France who has radial M/C tyres on his (Bridgestones I think) and yes they have a lot of grip but are nothing like as progressive as the cross ply race tyres. The flat tread tyres have a bigger contact patch than the curved tread M/C tyres, which are designed to lean on corners.
Now I know you know what a Morgan is Sean. While they look the same they're far far from it. Some of the other types are beautiful. Which car was following to film, could sort of see the front but couldn't work it out. Either way you left it for dead at the roundabout... 🤔 😉 😅
I did work experience for Morgan as I live 20mins away from the factory. I helped build a 3 wheeler back in 2018 myself
Definitely something I would love to drive! Look how excited the owner still is about his machine, you know it’s special!

The passion the owner have for the car is amazing! Great video.

Great episode, great format. Cool to have people drop by
The best cooling an air cooled motor could dream of.
The coolest location to mount it.
Totally sick!!!
Morgan Three Wheeler has been a passion of mine for decades, I was fortunate to drive one once and absolutely loved it. Definitely a dream vehicle.

People that spend $60K on a toy don't tend to be gear heads.

I feel like if you drive anything hand made with wood in the chassis, the brake reservoir should be a priority checklist item. Lol
He's a nice guy. He let me sit in that Morgan at an Ephrata Ride-In a couple years ago. They are by far the coolest reverse trike.
I know it’s not as fast as some of the other 3 wheelers but this one is at top of my bucket list. LOVE the old school look and engine out front reminds me of WW1 airplanes.
Great format. I thought it was Jay leno's garage for a second
It was as good as Jay. :)
Most beautiful trike ever made, I love it ❤️
That V twin on the front is so cool!
Really nice of you to pick-up a Morgan!
Ever since seeing one on top gear Uk years ago I’ve wanted one . I’d get the s&s 143 and a trask turbo and just make it a litttle ripper

I have been a fan of Morgans for years. Absolutely a blast to drive! Great video. More people need to learn about these great “cars”.
Niche market, and high price point. And looks like they just stopped production of the 3 wheeler.
This isn't hate, I would love to have one. But the price even used is beyond me, for a "toy".
@spencer s think of it as an investment. Expensive yes, but going up in value each year due to exclusivity and production of this model now ceased.
"A motor called a Matchless." Modern motorcyclists apparently don't even recognize the name! Lord, I feel old...
I think is more of a English thing. There is not many Matchlesses in the US
Shawn I think this is the most I seen you smile on a test ride.
Talking trash about a slingshot while there's one right behind him lol
saw one in D.C. this past week. Gonna watch the video now to learn more.
The Videography is really good. This is a great format! Oh! Love the Morgan!
Saying a slingshot looks like Fred Flinstones car was STUPID
Brilliant! Lots of fun. And for those with less income, a company called Lomax in the UK used to make a version with Citroen 2CV mechanics.
I remember the first time I saw one of these was on an episode of top gear and Richard Hammond drove it

Keep the bikes coming. You guys just sold two of them. And I'm looking for one.
Guy was extremely nervous letting him drive. Good thing they cut the drive short.
Well ive finally experienced everything in life. A 3 wheeled vehicle I absolutely adore. That thing is gorgeous.
My uncle had a copy of one of these powered by a Citroen 2cv engine (flat twin) and front wheel drive!

Richard Hammond Drive one on top gear along time ago cool car
Nice you noticed that too from watching the great three wisemen Clarkson Hammond and May
Sean should go ride bikes with Jay Leno.
The one Richard Hammond was in was an old one
I didn't realize all 3 wheel Morgan's are titled as motorcycles!
It would’ve been cool to see this guy test drive the slingshot.
I covet a 3-Wheeler, but they're hellish expensive in Australia. Moreso than the Plus 4
I looked at the prices for these here in the states, 40K-60K used. Beyond me and I would think most people, for a niche "toy".
A common misconception is that the chassis is made from wood, but no, the chassis is made from steel, and the frame for the body panels is made from Ash
this is my next project.....i've got the 1918 WW1 SE5A British biplane fighter, now i need a british vehicle of that era to match.....

Gotta get a review of the Motus MSTR if you can get one on loan 🙂
Wanted one of these since I seen one while stationed in Japan 10 years ago
Google the Morgan with spitfire paint job. Dream!
British engineering at its finest 🇬🇧
I love this channel but there is such little content compared to what I use to see
Better than one wheel at the front and two at the back .Check out the Robin Reliant.
