"motoring for the sake of motoring", beautifully said.
for the SHake of motoring)
This is one of my most favorite Chris Harris segments. I agree 100% with everything he said, and I'd love to own both of these cars one day.
Me too
One of the best (if not the best) reviews of the Morgan I've watched: nice to see someone who understands the cars he's testing giving his review, not the same old string of cliches and complaints that its not modern or fast enough. Well done Chris for 'getting' what he's driving!
yes, everyone knows that these cars are made for fun experience and not for destroy the lap time... But reviews want obviously to talk about the lap time and that's a pity.
But this one didn't the mistake
Some people are interested in the lap times because even though the cars are for FUN, they also want to get something that will let them NOT be lapped 5 times by EVERYONE on a track day, and it says something about how fast it is, and that is also about FUN.. It`s not a mistake, it`s a necessity, and it`s the consumers that continually ask for it if it`s left out ;)
This video explains exactly why I bought a caterham. Drove one and realised it was better than almost any other "sports" car I'd even driven. It's awesome and I love it.
Shrink1061 Yeah I have real problem explaining that to any of my friends who lust after exotics. They look at it and think it's so old fashioned. Their loss I guess.
Me too!
Me too, haha!
I've watched this film too many times now, I need a Caterham in my life.
I’ve watched almost every Caterham video and it’s almost like I’ve owned one already. I know it’s the right car.
Thanks to Chris I knew the M3W 6 years ago...
Now I own one !!!
- Essence of driving -
Merci CHRIS HARRIS !!!
thanks chris for putting so much passion in your reviews, I can feel the driving experience!
"In Morgan 34mph feels more alive than 120mph in a Porsche. Brilliant fun!" - Chris Harris always hits the nail on the very head :)
Of all the cars in the world, I want a caterham the most
I like it for its simplicity but also The Veyron for its complexity ... I know which I am more like to own , believe me
@@georgeelmerdenbrough6906 The high power original Caterham are really pricey and import duties have no mercy. However, I will have one someday.
Easily one of my most-favorite videos you've ever done Chris... Loved it, for SO many reasons that I can quickly and easily identify with. This is one of the main reasons why I travel over to the UK every year and embark upon a grand journey of the vast, varied, challenging and exciting UK road networks - Scotland included, of course.. ;) Thank you thank you thank you for making this video - hopefully it will properly open up the eyes and minds of driving enthusiasts... cheers.
That is great Chris 15+ minutes of pure automotive joy ... I can watch car vids with Harris for hours...
Big thanks to Chris Harris! Such a pleasure to share your enthusiasm, knowledge, insight and FUN.
Keep 'em coming, please!
Having been a passenger in a couple of Caterhams, I could practically smell the hot oil and feel my legs getting warm when this one appeared on screen! The Morgan's like a mechanical puppy. Love these two cars.
Chris Harris you are an amazing man to drive the Morgans so brilliantly. You are also brilliant driving any other sports car.
I definitely need to own a Caterham one day. Great episode...well done!
Can I ask you, do you own one now? :D
7 years later
Today Morgan announced the end of the 3 wheeler production. I feel lucky to own one. This review played a part in my purchase decision.
the best part of Chris Harris videos is that when the engine sound is ON, there is no stupid music, big thanks to the editors for this.

That smiles says it all.
thought the exact same thing - you beat me to it by 7 years lol
A simply wonderful review of a couple of fantastic vehicles. Quite inspiring - makes me want to buy one of them (well, both really).
both great cars! and building a kit car for yourself would be amazing. a real keeper. thanks Chris and /DRIVE
Chris, your description and presentation are pure brilliance. I get a number of updates and I take a moment out of my day to view your latest offerings as soon as they arrive.
Thank you.
Had to re visit this clip, this is what your exceptional at Mr Harris.
Good gracious me, that looks like fun that will have your face cramping in no time. Mine hurts just from watching. A smile is one expression that truly can get stuck on your face. Thank you Mr. Harris and thank you Production Gurus, some of those shots!...
Absolutely fantastic! Proper driving right there.
Great video Chris. Pure driving thrills. Love it.
Love these videos. Absolutely excellent. Keep them coming.
"Maybe I should own one?" "looks off into the bleak distance." lolol this car looks like a heartbreaker...love this video well done!
I just enjoy this video so much. Thank chris to make so beautiful videos and bringing such extraordinary cars because often driving pleasure is confused whith speed, but these cars especially the morgan remind us that driving pleasure is just about,, well,, driving pleasure
That's we we love your videos: no matter the price or the year it was released, just cars we can all enjoy
I just love that thought of doing what Chris said, rap out warm & cover 150 miles
Lovely cars!
Lovely sound
Lovely host!
Lovely roads!
Lovely scenary!
Lovely exra bit of video!
Lovely beard!
What an great review. Mr. Harris you're just brilliant! I think i'm gonna watch this couple times in a row. So good!
This is what driving is about!! AWESOME!!! I wish that all reviewers had such enthusiasm for their job! You make anyone want to drive a car! Fast or slow....doesn't matter!! This is what all other car magazines and shows need to be like... I applaud you for this!!
Another great one! keep them coming!
bravo chris. one of your best videos to date.
Chris Harris is the man! Great job with sound on this one - I can't imagine it is easy to capture audio in one of those things. You guys are getting better and better. Keep it up!
Hey Chris. Every production I've seen you in has been gold. Thanks for everything.
one of his best videos ever... and thats a HUGE statement! gotta love chris and his passion for cars with soul
This gave me chills. Chris took it to another level.
Maybe I should own one too! Fantastic video again, Chris. To think this content is free is amazing.
With all that said the Morgan has a charm all its own 💖🇬🇧👍🏻✨🌹 cheers mate🍸
gotta love caterhams, but also realy like the morgan realy something different but very cool
Well done, Drive! Thank you, Chris Harris. No background music ruining the engine sound. Incredible hi-def footage, and slow motion capture. I have yet to find another automotive channel on UA-cam, or on TV.
Good review Chris, I ordered one for next spring 2016 . I wanted something different and basic and fun, this car has all three .
Three wonderful wheels in a magnificent landscape. What else!
You Brits , you are the masters of enginnering .And i am a DS Citroen lover.Sums it all.
I love these kinds of videos and these kinds of cars. I like to pretend I am driving a Morgan or a Caterham when I light up the rear wheels in my Jeep on a wet day. It may not be the most sophisticated driving machine, but it gets the job done in my opinion.
Chris, you are best thing going in the automotive journalism world. FANTASTIC!
Very well-written piece. I'll surely be watching this one again.
You made me cry ! Realy. I want more. (Incredible road too).
This video got me started on making my own 3 wheeler.
well done chris, never stop doing what you do, love it
Love the Brits adjectives and adverbs: absolutely brilliant, proper, binkingly, etc. And the way they are pronounced is, well, an absolute JOY! Great review, once again (or as this yank would say, pretty friggin' cool, man)
I bought a 230hp high-lift cam Zetec Caterham 7 last winter on a whim. Good whim it was, as the car is a total hoot to drive. Same power-weight ratio as a Viper (though admittedly not nearly as fast as my Gen 4 Viper ;) But still crazy fast and crazy fun. Kids literally scream in joy when you drive by in a car as ridiculous as a Lotus 7. And a total chic magnet! Driving an ordinary, exotic super car (Ferrari, or other) suggests to the world that you may need to (because of your other shortcomings)... but only gents completely secure in their manhood drive a car as silly as a Lotus 7. Just because it is stupid fun! And it's only a data-driven observation that I'm sharing that women love this car for some reason!...I'm sure that the girls, of course, also just recognize the pure joy in it. Everyone loves a 7 - the car sounds great, is stupid fast, and has no pretense.
Amen. Owned a Birkin 7 for all the same reasons, brilliant car made even better with modern diffs and engines.
I watched, I laughed, I yearned, I loved!
I really like this guy's delivery. He really knows how to wax lyrical off the cuff.
Monumental - as always!!
Brilliant as always, I hope DRIVE can keep you a little longer!
Best car reviews in the world. I love chris harris
as always fascinating! Well done Chris!
Very nice. Good job, Chris.
Another phenomenal video guys, keep up the fantastic work. Absolutely love getting home and seeing a new DRIVE video. Chris, you're bloody brilliant.
Keep it up. And oh, when he says about the sensation of controlling a machine. EXACTLY. That is what its all about. It's man controlling the beast. It's ancient.
Great video. It is good to get back to motoring roots.
Brilliant Chris, brilliant! You are a prophet for all drivers!
I was thinking the exact same thing. This was truly great.
Chris, you are just fantastic!
The morgan always reminds me of the type of car Mr. Toad from the Wind in the Willows would drive
Lovely views and looks like a fun car to drive!
My favorite Chris Harris video [even more than the one with the E28 M5 or the Hammer Mercedes]. You sir, are a great car journalist. Thank you, Cheers!
Fantastic video, these cars are just brilliant to watch and are potentially realistically attainable for mere mortals
Chris is taking motoring journalism to another level with videos like this. We all love TG but this video makes any car enthusiast want to book a test drive right away.
I would be so happy to own either of these. Great video.
This video sums up why so many people love chris harris. He's so good at what he does. He's an amazing driver, he's so interesting, and he knows what he's talking about. I could live with more videos like this :P
"It's about the sensations of controlling a machine, not the speed with which you cover ground."
Exactly! Sportscar makers, take notice!
Fantastic cars and a fantastic presenter. Well done.
Loved that. Want that Caterham, in those colours, on my drive - NOW!
The best film you've ever made for /Drive. Hands down. No need to wax eloquent about all the toys and gadgets (which can sound, at times, labored), just a simple fact: there is joy to be found driving vehicles that capture the essence of motoring. Thanks for letting us blokes who hadn't got a bean to their name live our dreams of motoring glory through you.
you hit it spot on, I graduate college in 2years and this is definitely a toy I want to pick up shortly after.
Damn Chris, thank you... You are extremely good at transmiting that fun you have through a camera... I've just spend a really great time watching this test. Makes me wanna buy either of them! Thanks again :)
Awesome video, how does this not have more views and likes after 10 years is unbelievable
The Morgan is like the perfect Sunday drive car.
Love it! The entire shot
Drove a Morgan Threewheeler this morning in the pouring rain. Even then, it's simply brilliant. Motoring / Driving unplugged. Loved it. Totally agreed with Chris here.
Love your work, Chris.
I totally agree great video 👍
I love reviews by Chris Harris, best, most enthusiastic car reviewer on UA-cam.
The British may not have invented the 2 seat convertible but they pretty much perfected it. It's so odd how so many countries make such vastly different cars suited to their country. Here in the states we make high powered straight line machines or appliances, Japan makes high tech economical cars, Germans make luxury high speed touring cars, Brits make quick great handling roadsters. I find it unfair how people say cars from other countries (especially here) don't do this or that. We all know American cars don't handle very well, because we are a country obsessed with drag racing. You take a mustang and a jag and put them on a flat road and the mustang will walk away. Put them on a twisty road and the Jag will leave the mustang behind.
the british are probably the best all rounders with the roadsters, luxury cars like rolls royce, gt cars like the jaguar xkrs fast five door cars like the jaguar xjr and xfrs, supercars like the aston martins and mclarens, the light weight sports cars like lotus and Ariel and the best Suv the range rover and being responsible for 75% of all global motorsport development, also the bugatti and keonigsegg engine blocks the bugatti gearbox and brakes the chassis of the nissan gtr i think the engine in the gtr the engines in all the impreza's and evo's are british
*****
no, the engines in those cars are japanese, but the british have tuned the holy piss out of them. lotus uses the toyota 2zz and 2gr engines in their cars. the lancer evo and impreza both had their suspension designed by prodrive in the uk, and the gtr by mclaren i think. im not totally sure on that but i think i read that somewhere in a car magazine or heard it on a car show. but im not sure. the brits most definitely have a stranglehold on the luxury market with Rolls, Jag, Bentley before VW bought them, and Aston. The Germans do luxury very very well, but they can't compare to the English burled walnut and corinthian leather, with the lamb's wool mats
Jacksonkellyfreak
aston martin is privately owned, bmw own rolls royce stil built in Britain though jaguar is owned by an indian company again still built here., luxury is something British car makers are very good at yea, never understoo why lotus use toyota engines these days because the engines lotus were making 25 years ago were very powerful great engines its all down to emission regulations these days though unfortunately, mclaren is a british company. funny enough the controlling share of nissan is owned by renualt, and fiat own chrysler know.
Yea they do. You can nitpick who owns who nowadays but cars made in Britain for Brits are perfect for twisty narrow little roads. They make what is fun, comfortable & well suited the the roads it's going to be on most. In America we make big cars suited for wide roads & long highway road trips.
A Mustang is a real hassle to drive on a narrow winding road but it will go in a straight line & it's quite comfortable to hop in & drive 500 miles on the freeway. The little British car will eat up that little winding road but boy are little British cars uncomfortable on a long road trip.
We make what suits us. You can't bash a little Lotus or other British car for being uncomfy on a road trip. They don't use them for that. You can't bash the Mustang for looking like a pregnant cow trying to go down a flight of stairs when it's on a narrow twisty road. We don't use then for that.
+twinscroll turbo James Martin talks about his Lotus Evora 400 and why Lotus decided to go for the Camry Engine. Reliability, ease of maintenance, reasonable parts prices and high cost of developing their own engines, coupled with the fact that using a Toyota engine gave them more money to spend on the chassis and interior. Matt Farrahs' review of the Evora 400 seems to justify their decision.
THIS is why I'm subscribed to drive! good job chris, great report
Feel like going for a drive after that...amazing video again mr harris
oh man you are just utterly mindblowingly brilliant! I just love your work! very neat editing (camera + sound) as well
Awesome review and very nice driving, thank you yo much I enjoyed it.
Fabulous film Chris. Totally sums up why I love my Caterham!
I like how you look for the good in cars rather than getting hung up on the bad; thumbs up!
Gold as always.
You had amazing fun, Chris!! I want the caterham. It would be a joy to own! Pure and raw motoring joy!!
Chris, your reviews are superb.
Superb!
"These machines are the essence of driving." well said.
I have a clubman at home as soon as I get home it is going for a drive ! Great video well done
Fantastic video, as always!
