Hello sister!!! I cover full time. When you said that my covering should not draw more attention to the covering itself, instead of the conviction behind wearing it, I was truly touched. I find myself trying to wear bold prints or trying to "dress" up my head coverings. This teaching was a real eye opener for me. To God be the glory!!!
In Islam it's the same. Not to attract attention. So you will find soft neutral colors in every shade imaginable! Really in very good taste, not gaudy at all. I quite like that sensibility!
Hi Maddy. I have watched most of your videos over the past week or so and just subscribed a few days ago. I am glad to see this. I love how you cite the bible and do not try to steer people with your own personal opinions. You have done an enormous amount of research, you are an asset to us Christians
First of all, you are such an inspiration to me. I have head covered since i was a teen and now am almost 40. I didn't cover for modesty though until a few years ago when i realized that i should be covering for modesty as well. Thank you for the example you are setting. God's blessings to you!
I cover full time and trying to wear skirts and long dresses and fel in love with abayas and kimonos. I wear it in every style. People think im muslim🫠 but I try not to care. To cover is to cover fully. Like covering ur stomach. Can't have half showing off.
I wear snood style or tichel style. Not with fancy scarves, mine are all plain and basic. I also show some hair in the front. Where I am in Canada, in the 3 years I've been covering, only 1 person asked what Christian denomination I was a part of. Everyone else has just assumed I'm Muslim.
Haha, I have gotten Jewish, Amish and Muslim 😂I feel like no matter what, because Christians don't veil anymore for the most part we are going to get miscategorized.
I love veiling (i have a scarf collection with brooches for my scarf and undercaps,i just want more of them ...oopsy 🧕🏼💅🏼 ) but now i cannot wear them without fear unless my husband is with me . i got attacked 3 time by different mens (all seem to be atheist /racist and uneducated ) i got dead treat ect and was told to go back to my country i had to get the police involve and now one of them has a file and he the one that live near me 💀 The police was so nice with me and did not get why he felt threaten by me i was wearing a baby pink scarf with a pink sleeve shirt something a Muslim won't wear ,the first time that men threaten me i was not even veiling i was wearing a pretty abaya coat because it was cold and though my outfit was not modest enough ... Im so happy the police took me seriously me and my husband . But i dont out anymore alone if i decide to veil . Im a Canadian Quebecker and the men threatening are too I'm not darker or different than them i look like a Quebecker .They all thought i was Muslim for wearing a headcover .It dont help my mental at all since im a survivor wtf those mens are thinking!? they won't stop wars /immigration by scaring and attacking every woman that veils. It just make wearier of them in general now i have to "practice" to go outside again alone 🙄🤡
In orthodox christianity we wear the babushka style and the style that muslim women wear as you said - hijab, were wearing also our grandmothers, the simmilar style. 💕
True! As an Orthodox Christian who veils every time I leave the house, my veil looks very similar to a hijab. Some times I worry that people may confuse me for Muslim that's why I always make sure my necklace cross is visible.
@@smolcutie1773 stay safe because i got attacked even while wearing a cross they all insisted i was Muslim and after said that Christianity is cult after learning im Christian they were just has hostile and all told me it was a costume ...💀 please be careful or have a men with you, let people know where you go
Some places like France have laws against women wearing clothing to swim. If they thi k u have too much clothing on that to them resemble burkini and u also msybe have a cap on covering ur hair too thst they might reprimand u and ask u to take off ur clothing covering. I prefer a modest swim attire and not really anything avail that to me meets my convictions. I'd be ok with leggings or crop leggings and a long dress top that covers my butt, however hard to find. I've resorted to some tennis dresses on occasion. I'd be cautious traveling abroad and ppl not understand if ur covered with no bikini. Ppl in states seem to think I'm weird about what I want to swim in and they might not like it but I do. Plus I'm fair I wear long sleeves and long pants to swim anyways or I'll get so burnt. Id note when u say follow laws of land also his disciples made an appeal and asked those judging to judge for themselves if they broke Gods law. We can always make an appeal to any government bodies especially if it's about us standing in our conviction. But yes abide in that but do make an appeal first. I might look weird when I swim ball cap, glasses, long-sleeved and pants or shorts to my knees and sometimes I swim in a dress. But that's OK. I use to be vain and now I have no worries if ppl think I'm odd .
I actually might not wear a veil around my neck or over my shoulder like babushka in public bit I do at church because I know those at church don't mistake me for a different religion. In public I wear bonnet (snood). at church I wear a bonnet and a veil over it. If I am doing something other than mom duties and we have a special occasion out or something important for family I wear something that hangs down and covers everything but isn't over my neck. Comfort is 1 thing too if ur messing with it or cnt wear it long bring a comfy backup in ur purse tgat u know u wont fuss with or that's comfortable or that stays on well. I might go out and Mt veil is appropriate but my ears only last 2 hrs so ill take it off and put my comfortable bonnet on like after church or for long days out. I'm having issues with hair loss, menopause and my hair is so long and is always braided and up I think I have too much tension. I've been considering cutting my hair but it's as long as my faith is old. I've not cut it since I've been born and I've veiled everyday since. I need to find a way to maintain my hair health as I'm aging and growing my hair too. As it is my glory it's important to keep hair and scalp healthy too. So a balance is needed to honor God but to be a good steward of the glory he gave us also. All glory be to God and y we veil. I feel it's just important not just to cover my hair but to care for it too. I have had to except that sometimes I cnt get my hair up because it's very long and fine and thin I cnt anchor my hair to the hair on my scalp. So something better to cover it while down. Other times I must be strategic about how I anchor the length of my hair up to my scalp so it doesn't pull Orr fall out. It's silky so if not done well it pulls. Braids help I've learned ways to knot my hair or tie it or make loops by my neck and can get my hair covered. Sometimes I have to use a scarf or band for help to relieve the pulling by tieing the scarf up instead of my hair. Looking more at some hair nets. I used some combs with bands between em to fasten down my hair but anything on the scalp is too much. It's OK over time to adjust and change what works for you. I veil very diff now than I did the first 5 yrs. Tried a millions diff things for different situations and you find what works. My head shape and hair type play big part in how I can veil and what I can wear without it flying off my head. Took few years to work with my head shape, hair type, lifestyle and domestic duties and even labor type work I have things tgat work better for gardening or hiking or extreme sports. Another option to get hair up is braid in ribbons and 1 no elastic needed on ur hair itself and then u can put in bun or use ribbon to tie it up to the base of the braid. In a bun u can tie the ribbon or scarf to secure. I like a headband that's pleated but long and loose so when I put it on I pull the whole back down and it hangs like a veil but no ties long enough I feel satisfied with it as a veil abd reaches to my neck and shoulders but wears like a bonnet and covers everything (snood that falls like a veil)
Please do not cut your hair!! I was having a lot of issues with tension as well that’s why I started wearing the hijab style more often, but please, please, please do not cut your hair. It’s one thing to trim but it’s another thing to cut most of your length off. Start doing rosemary oil 2-3x per week. Just leave it on for 1-4 hours. Apply to your scalp and you can put some type of hair mask on the length. Sleep with a silk or satin bonnet. Make sure you are eating a lot of protein and getting enough vitamins. I would stay away from Monoxodil if possible (rosemary oiling is supposed to be just as effective). I’m going to link this girl‘s hair care account that I follow. The only thing I would do that she says to do is only wash your hair once a week… “Training” your hair isn’t real and not washing your scalp enough can make your hair fall out. But I have also heard if you start taking DHT blockers that will help with hormonal hair loss. youtube.com/@tessapeay?si=7dKJ6jFFH9E3dnps
Hi! 1 Cor 11 says to cover when praying or prophesying. Why do you believe it means to always cover? I’m genuinely asking because I would say we pray all the time but it seems you believe it says it’s for modesty. I’ve actually been thinking that the act of covering your head to pray or prophesy is a form of modesty because it is covering up man’s glory. I havent fully thought it through though. Other than the Old Testament scriptures referring to taking off a covering, is there any other reason? Thank you 😊

Very good video! You should look into the Mennonites. They have very similar views as you on this issue; they are the only Christian tradition left in the west that still practices the veil. They also have many styles of veils you don’t mention here.
We live in rural Lancaster county, which is rich in anabaptist culture. Many of our friends are former mennonite, and they have said that the anabaptist church (Amish and mennonite) wear coverings for the wrong reasons; they are mandated by the church. Many mennonites only wear a small doily style covering, because that it what most of their churches require. Some churches, specifically the Keystone Mennonite church, require almost like a mesh basket covering to be considered “in good standing” in church. Our dear friends, who have left the anabaptist faith now cover with traditional linen coverings and do it out of conviction and headship versus church requirement.
That’s not true. Catholics still wear veils. If you go to a regular Catholic mass no one is wearing them. If you go to a Latin mass and don’t have a veil you will stand out because it is highly encouraged as we don’t want to distract from the mass.
