On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Ігри

If you'd like to join this server you will need to be on DCS Open Beta and Own the Channel Map, WW2 Assets Pack and at Least 1 World War 2 aircraft with the exception of the I-16, search for "growling sidewinder" and select the "World At War" server. Thanks for watching and I'll see you guys in the next one.
Hey GS, can you make a video on SU30mki vs PAF f16? Because both jets are backbone of their airforce.
Could you do a video with a modern fighter jet vs a ww2 aircraft?
@@Death_Trooper-177 The WW2 aircraft would 100% win. There is really no point of doing this.
I only intended to watch for like 20 seconds as I love the engine sound of the k-4 but you made me watch all of the video back to back. very nicely flown. horrido
Thanks for sticking around lol
@@GrowlingSidewinder thanks for messerschmidting some of the "british" planes 😛
(Messer actually means Knife in german, so the joke kinda makes sense)
@@commanderrockwell1123 you salute weirdly ;)

that my good sir is how you do it
Some WW2 actions in the sky today. Beautiful. Hoping for more videos like it.
And more WW1 VR action too
I feel like you’re the only person I’ve seen that actually knows how to properly take off with a tail dragger in dcs
Little bit of luck also that dunkirk runway is a short one.
Respect for that Mosquito. That was amazing.
It’s amazing what happens when none of your targets gain altitude 😂 even if you miss on the first pass it’s just up and around for another go
Gotta love entering fights with an energy advantage
Just make them an easy target, for him. For me! That's an entirely different story.
This is total bliss. I'm watching GS in a Bf 109 on a beautiful 65" screen. Centered on the wall directly behind and above my tv is a four foot wingspan Spitfire surrounded by a squadron of eight 400mm Eachine Warbirds, two of which are Bf109's in different color schemes. OMG this is heaven.
Been a little while since we've seen the P-47 in DCS. Would love to see how you handle that beast against the K4. Would be a good challenge.
P47 is slow and less maneuverable, it's not a match with K4
@@xiaohui6339 but better in a dive and faster up high
@@badgermcbadger1968 which in dcs doesnt mean much, considering where the bulk of combat takes place
Your new rig is making the videos even more awesome.
That second Mosquito sure was tenacious. He tried to hide behind the smoke plume from that burning ship, pretty quick thinking.
The wooden construction is why the Mosquito was so resilient!
Love the Ju88's on the ramp in the background when you were taking off. Great attention to detail.
Gotta say that unlike many other channels, I do NOT mind your brief and laid-back style merch ads which 4 me in no way detracts from the 1st rate experience of your vids, And LOVE this WW II dog-fight content!
just bought the Bf-109 K4 Kurfurst for my birthday, It's a lot of fun. Can't wait to play on your server
Bro was evil AF to those wingmen bombers 9:18
Something about WW2 era censored cursing really cracked me up!! I’m only just getting into DCS and your channel has been so helpful and inspiring! I’m currently learning the F-86 and saving for the Spitfire and can’t wait to mix it up :D
13:00 the force was strong with this one lol. nice change of pace from the mach 1+ fox 3s and mergers. thanks for that GS )
The K4 and MW50 boost can be such a onesided combination :D
Great video! The first mosquito kill was awesome!
The BF-109 was such an amazing airframe. Other than the Spitfire, I don't know of another fighter in either the Allied or Axis camp whose variants were produced continuously from 1939 all the way to the end of the war in '45.
*cough* yak series
@@IonPerseus not quite. It was developed through 1939 but it only entered service by late 1940. With the Bf 109 first entering service mid 1937 as part of the condor legion sent to spain, with the spitfire entering service a year later on mid 1938 under squadron number 19.
@@felixalgebra4888 he asked about the period of 39 to 45, I answered quite right.
@@IonPerseus but that's the thing, it wasn't produced until late 1940. Sure an airframe was ready before that period but it really wasn't really ready until the time i cited, while the 109 and spitfire were already in a point in their development were they were suited for military service way before the yak series
Cool. I really enjoy your WW1 and WW2 content.
Love it. More WWII DCS stuff, please
Being mostly of wooden construction meant the Mossie absorbed machine gun rounds. With aluminium aircraft, the rounds actually tear larger (exit) holes in the airframe and cause more damage.
I over-enjoy videos like this.
AMAZING, thx dude!
Yes, some very welcome WW2 warbird action 👍
Love your channel. Jealous of your set up, always wanted to be a fighter pilot as a kid, I need DCS and this. More WWII videos please! They are Great fun.
Been a while. Sorry. Covid making things hard. Love your work constantly and consistently. Thank you for your content. I am soon to join the crowd hopefully.
16,400 feet in 3 minutes 32 seconds....phenomenal climb rate
Love the WW1 and WW2 content GS. More of it please!
You cracked me up with that miss.
12:10 I recall reading somewhere that the wooden construction of the mosquito caused a lot of rounds to pass cleanly through it instead of fragmenting and tearing up the inside of the aircraft.
I’ve heard this as well, I don’t know how true it is but it makes sense to me.
@@GrowlingSidewinder also they were one of the earliest aircraft to use a honeycomb composite (of wood) skin so structurally they are extremely tough
There's a great photo off a Mossie that made it back on half a wing and one engine literally fallen off.
I really like the sound of the Mercedes-Benz DB 605 engine! Thank you very much!
Happy to see some WWII back in action
"Stand still, buddy...(BLEEP) (BLEEP) ...oh NOOooo!" LOL!
Finally WW2! That lead mosquito was annihilated 😂 thanks for sharing.
Loved it!
More WWII content please. Love this one!
👌🏼 I was hoping that skeeter would have a spitfire friend on the way home 😈
Some say that last Mosquito is still flying around on fire to this day.
I love the ww2 and ww1 videos, please keep doing more of these
That K-4 really is a beast 💪🏽
That 2nd fighter on the tail of the Ju88 was a P51D!
That inverted V12 makes a heck of a sound, and there's something about the 109's square lines that makes it very German
That is freaking nuts.....🤔!
The ballistics on the 30mm look tricky, like there is a steep drop of in velocity and you have to have the range down juuuust right. I believe you mentioned in a previous video that some German aces didn't necessarily like it and found it was easier to score hits with the 20mm but I could totally be wrong about that. Looks like your gunnery is really improving though, you're using actual bursts rather than trying to use the machine guns as a precision weapon. I'm a Tanker by trade but a lifelong aeronautical enthusiast and love these videos but the thing I see a lot of guys is DCS and IL-2 do is be a bit squeamish in how they employ their weapons in an effort to conserve ammo. Your shortest trigger squeeze should be around 1 Mississippi and about 10-15 rounds (idk what the tracer ratio is but if its standard 1 to 5 then count 3 tracers if that's easier)
Awesome!!
As sinister as it is beautiful.
That first Mosquito kill was so clean.
Damn, this was my jam back 25 years ago (and no I was not in WWII ). Making me want to reinvest in my gear
EAW/IL2 Sturmovik?
@@phil3114 I think it was EAW. I was always partial to the BF’s and FW’s
GS really lights up their lives.
I missed the WW2 server, great video am waiting for more
As a veteran WT pilot the K4 is still my most played prop. Once I get my new pc parts I’m gonna get into DCS.
You had fun, so did I :)
I love the K-4 you should definitely do more if it.
I love when you record a vídeo on the ww2 server, its soo good
really enjoy the WWII content!
3:53 Had me laughing 😂
Great to have some WW2 again! love the WW1 and WW2 stuff
8:03 Eject from a P-51!! Must have stolen a seat from the Germans
He's used to flying modern jets. He probably meant to say "bail". Even the Germans didn't have ejection seats in the Me-262, Me-163, or the He-162, if I recall correctly.
@@conroypawgmail A few of the Me262s had ejection seats. They were installed in the Me280 which never went into production. The swedes had one fitted to the Saabs. The Brits were planning to fit one in their jets but hadn't got round to it.
@@csjrogerson2377
Do-335 Pfeil had and it was far from perfect.
Maybe also He-219, but I am not sure.
WW2 damage models are so nice
Always nice to change it up with some piston powered combat.
The engine sounds are so good
I don't have DSC, but i do love causing chaos in Bf-109G in War Thunder sim battles. I know it's not the same but still satisfying.
"Virtual Reality: Oculus Rift S " ? wait, didn't you got also a new PIMAX ? I remember the video and I come back to see more VR content heheheh. I'm starting to play more often on the IL-2 and it is absolutely glorious to play it on VR, I'm literally inside the airplanes. LOVE IT !!
Ah shit ya I forgot to change that
Fixed, thanks and good catch.
actually not QUITE the penultimate 109...... two K-14 models were issued to JG-52 in the closing weeks of the war, but little is known about their service...... Maybe Hartmann flew one
Finally! another WW2 video :-D
The 109 sounds like my lawnmower. 😆
Fantastic
Really like the ME 262 and 109 dogfight
I think you should try the PZL.11 against the BF-109 if they have it in the game. It would be an underdog fight, but also historically accurate. I think it would be fun!
A 109 A/B/C/D or even E would be needed for that scenario.
GS zooms in "Yup there is definitely something down there."
Me "Yup. A big red arrow is down there. Better go kill that."
Do the slats on the Me 109 deploy automatically or are they manual?
Good flight by the way. The K is probably one of the few planes that can take the Mossie. The Mosquito is probably my favourite aircraft of WWII. Such a beautiful bird, and involved in so many important missions.
Automatic
Nice video GS
many thanks
I adore 109s, especially Bf-109F-4 but my fav ww2 plane is FW-190D-9, with FW-190A-4 as the second best.
Very nice
I was hoping for some WW2 action today, GS and as your video popped up, I lit up like one of your victims. :D
I’d say the Apex Predator in the ETO was the P38.
it's a great server and I fly it regular. i just wish you'd move the static planes back from around the runways on the Axis side 👍
You are just a DCS bullie GS!!🤣😂🤣😂Another great video GS!! I live for your content
Nice Video and very entertaining.
Sorry for the questions following: I recently saw a video from 12/2021 of you where you were showcasing the Tobii Eye Tracker and now you said you had some TrackIR issues. Have you switched back?
I am highly interested in what I should get (TrackIR vs Eye Tracker 5), since I came back to Flight Sims thanks to MS Flight (would certainly also help to revive my Elite: Dangerous career). I have played F16 Fighting Falcon *a lot* in the late 90's and would love to dive into military flight sims again.
So - did you go back to Track IR and if yes, why? Any helpful answer is highly appreciated. If there is a video discussing that topic and that I have missed, just point it out to me.
I'd really like to see your manifold gauge so I know what you're doing with the throttle through manoeuvres.
What do you think of the Focke Wulf Dora module?
awesome video! i really like these older fighters!
i was wondering if the pilot gets anything out of ejecting in dcs. is it just for the roleplay?
Just for rp
I love that plane and I suck with it!😡😩 Its good to see someone show me how to use it.
the first time I saw the screen start to black from the G's i thought it was my computer messing up lol
Woe be unto the Mossie that doesn't see the 109 behind him.
hay gs we call that into the drink lol 6min
Great vids! Thank you.
I wonder though is it good idea to go in flat RIGHT-hand circle after P-51? Would be vertical loop better in this case?
Depends on ur energy state
@@GrowlingSidewinder yeah. I was wandering on decisions behind going in flat horizontal loop after diving on that p51 @ 6:20.
You had tremendous E advantage yet decided to go flat and in inefficient right turn against the torque.
"he has a yellow nose"
meanwhile me trying to figure out where the enemy is XD
Unpopular opinion but the p-47 Is the best pound for pound fighter from ww2
I know you have the tom cat merch but I'm a huge fan of the ww2 stuff. Any chance of ww2 merch will come out?
I'm curious what you think of the flight models on the various planes when comparing DCS planes to the same IL2 great battles variants? I recently looked at the price of getting a world war II DCS plane and the Normandy and Channel maps, but it's something like $75 on sale for the lot, and I already have almost all the IL2 to stuff
DCS definitely has a more in depth flight model for all their modules. DCS is more of a study sim so they have really nailed click pits and general feel of the aircraft. I mean next to flying the real deal DCS is going to be as close as its going to get. In my personal opinion IL2 aircraft feel a bit more "floaty" than DCS. Again my opinion but i feel that il2 does the whole "feel" of ww2 better. Plus you get alot of content for a fraction of the price. If you really want to dive into knowing the intricacies of one particular aircraft and want every tiny detail modeled then pick up whatever module and normandy map, you wont regret it. But there is definitely a noticeable difference in the handling of aircraft from dcs to il2. You gotta pay the price if you want high fidelity.
I wouldn't get the Normandy map if you're getting into dcs ww2. The channel map is much newer and MUCH nicer, without a lot of the bugs of normandy.
About fidelity, dcs is definitely a lot better, and as a mechanical engineer I greatly appreciate the very detailed piston engine simulation in dcs. Really cool to see stuff like the swirl throttle modelled correctly on the fw 190 d9, along with actual detonation calculations based on cylinder pressure, etc.
@@JameyBarrow I wouldn't necessarily say that DCS is closer correlated or higher fidelity. Everyone has all of the same data for the most part and it's all insufficient to fully correlate the flight models for just about any plane, and only a few flying examples exist so pilot correlation is really impractical too. CFD is basically almost useless too so can't get too many hints from that.
I'm gonna wager it comes down to which you like better, because they're both probably quite inaccurate in transients and even some steady state situations. Engine sim is supposedly more detailed in DCS.
How'd I get here. I was researching vitamin K2 and typed...K4? WTF? I guess I can take a break from dogfighting CVD and plaque/calcium buildup and go back in time to the skies of Europe. Great fun.
Nice video like many others... may I ask you: do you use any VR set, face-tracking system or just a mouse in these fights? Man, you fit in with those planes like a hand fits a glove ...
Hi Kenny thank you very much, I am using trackir5 to look around
Was wondering when this would come back
I downloaded dcs a few days ago and I think I have all the basics down but was wondering if there’s a good place to find people willing to help beginners like me get the more advanced stuff figured out.
P-47 is suppose to be a very rugged airplane. It should take more punishment then a couple rounds.
Lol those were 4-5 30mm rounds from almost point blank range.
I've never seen a Kurfurst yellow 👃 nose before.
I desperately want to see that wingmans pov
You think Mosquitos are hard to hit, try hitting Indiana Jones and his father.
