The childs performance in the last part of the film is one of the creepiest child performances in a horror film ever. Worthy of him being cast in a Japanese horror.
I saw a video someone took at a convention once, where most of the actors were there. Interestingly, the movie was filmed from start to end. The director thought that if the baby had a good enough relationship with all the other actors, then they could make the creepy end sequence feel like they were playing a game. The actor who played Gage said that after he grew up he got to visit the house where they filmed it again, and he said that it felt like going back to the home of a relative from years before because he vaguely remembered where things were. Oh--and one of the cats that played Church had kittens, so some of the actors got to take a kitten home when they were done :) There were a few cats that were trained to do different things like eat and jump on things; they were able to do it that way since he had that grey coloring.
Back when I was a truck driver, anytime I'd go down roads like the one in this movie (which oddly enough do indeed have pretty high speed limits) I was always terrified of some child running out in front of my rig XD
