    Heidi’s Homemade Bread:
    Makes five 8x4 inch loaves
    1 cup sugar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. Active Dry yeast
    1/2 cup instant potato flakes
1/2 cup oil (I use avocado oil)
    4 cups warm water
Combine in mixer bowl and let set for 10 minutes until the
    yeast blooms.
    Then add in
    11 cups bread flour
and let mixer run for 8 minutes.
Place dough in a large greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a
warm oven with the light turned on, for 1 hour or until
    double in size.
Divide dough into 5 loaves, then shape until surface
is nice and tight, and place in greased loaf pan.
Prick through with a fork a few times to break
largest air pockets to ensure a nice crumb.
Cover and let rise again until loaves are full and
about one inch over the top of the pan.
Bake at 350° for 20 minutes or golden.
Remove loaves carefully to cooling racks, and brush
    tops with butter.
Once slightly cool, place in bread bags and loosely
close the ends to keep bread nice and moist.
When cooled completely, close ends with twisties,
and freeze extra loaves and pull out and slice as
    needed.
Keeps in the freezer for at least two months.

    Whoopie Recipe. pin.it/3MPemRX
I would add 3/4 to 1 cup more flour. The recipe I used is the first one they listed. I also added vanilla.
    Filling For Cookies
1 cup crisco or margarine. Crisco if you want it white
    2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
    3 tsp vanilla
    2 T water
    8 oz marshmallow cream
    Pumpkin Whoopie Pies:
    1 3/4 cup brown sugar
    1 cup veg oil
    1 1/2 cup pumpkin
    2 eggs
    2 3/4 cup flour
    1 tsp. Baking powder
    1 tsp soda
    1 tsp Vanilla
    1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp nutmeg
    1 tsp salt
Cream the oil & sugar. Then add eggs, pumpkin & vanilla and mix well.
Add sifted dry ingredients to that. Drop onto greased Cookie sheet and flatten slightly. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or so. Add your filling in between. Enjoy!

Lynette, I just want to say what a blessing you are to me. I thank God for women like you who have a wholesome channel and I mean that in the sweetest way. Your music uplifts me and your cooking and thrifting inspire me. I'm in a much different season than you right now (67) and my boys are gone but I have 3 beautiful grandchildren with another on the way. Your interaction with the kids is also inspiring. You are appreciated. Again, I thank God He put you in our lives. xoxTX

I bought a almost new bread machine for $30.00 to do the mixing and kneading of my bread. Made my life so much easier. Found a great sandwich bread recipe on Jordan Page’s UA-cam channel. I had used the same family recipe for decades. Now her recipe is the only one use. Except for my sourdough bread. My maternal side of the family are General Conference Mennonite.

I was born in Millmont PA! My mom cooked just like the Mennonite/Amish growing up! Never knew it was called that until the past few years! I just thought my mom was a country cook :) My Mother In Law, who grew up in the Southern part of Indiana, called me a gourmet cook when she first ate my food (made me LOL), she thought I cooked so different and yummy. haha, but PA food is very good and can seem unique to those not use to it! Sauerkraut with Pork, Potatoes, Carrots, Parsnips, Yams, and Turnips are a must for New Year's Day in our home (grew up with it!)... With homemade dinner rolls on the side, always! (I do sourdough for my family now though).
We love whoopie pies in the fall and my mom's homemade apple butter is the best! I make a german sauerkraut gravy that i serve over potatoes onions and sausages. We love Hoagies for lunch. I grew up most my life around all different types of Amish and Mennonite. In PA and MO we lived in their neighbourhood. We looked very very similar in dress, but our doctorine was just different. The ones that wore black cloth head coverings like you do, called themselves Eastern Mennonite and had the same doctorine as us. Non of the others did. We were friends wih all them and loved all of them though!
I have kept the same standards I grew up with for myself and my little family... I love doing it for Jesus ♡♡
SIDE NOTE: I love you and your channel because you aren't afraid to share Jesus! ♡
. . . I love this video!! I enjoy watching Megan Unlocked, and Stephanie over on The Golden Hour, just so I can see the scenery and foods! Such good memories, ♡♡ so nostalgic for me.

I grew up in Central PA. Yes, a good bit of Pennsylvania Dutch food is pretty rich. Of course most of us don't have to plough the "south forty" any more. So, most of my cousins have lightened up a bit. My mother only made chocolate whoopie pies for bake sales. My husband never acquired a taste for Amish/Mennonite cusine, even after 40+ yrs of marriage.

Hello Lynette. I really enjoyed your vlog today. I’ve been spending watching your older videos, trying to catch up & learn all about your life before & after living in Florida. We lived in Maryland years ago. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Lancaster, PA & all the lovely small towns that were so charming. I really loved learning all about the Amish & Mennonite ways of life. Our visits took place from 1978 to 1980. Well, we decided to take vacation in 2009. The changes took us by surprise. The area had become so commercialized. I was so
disappointed. We ended up traveling the backroads so we could relax & enjoy the farms & the fields of corn. We shared the narrow roads with many horse buggies. We stopped at some of the Amish produce stands. I loved speaking to the Amish who were in charge of the produce stands. Everyone was so friendly & endearing. We stayed at The Amish Inn while we were there. That’s a wonderful place to stay if you ever visit that area. It is so beautiful & very clean. They also have a breakfast buffet that serves so

I chuckled at your Proverbs 31 woman comment when kneading the bread. 😂 I've been married 17 years and have never made bread....besides sweet breads like banana or zucchini. We don't eat a ton of bread but I have been inspired from you and a couple other ladies on UA-cam to maybe give it a try. I imagine the smells and the taste are a great reward for the effort. I lived in upstate NY most of my life (now in NC) but we had some Amish and Mennonite communities not too awful far from us so we had lots of opportunities to purchase their baked goods and we were never disappointed. 😀

I live here in Lancaster and find the almost black whoopie pies, but the only thing I know is they have a dark cocoa powder, so maybe that is what makes them dark. All your recipes look delish! If you would buy a digital scale, you can weigh your bread dough to get more even loaves.
I did that because I got tired of such varied loaf sizes🙄
Loving the songs you’ve playing during parts of your videos, too!
    Hope your week is blessed🙏❤️

Loved this video, (but then I love them all😊)! Lynette, you might find you're very happy with a bread slicing guide. I have a wooden one from King Arthur Flour and it was a complete game changer for me! I'm sure there are other more affordable options on Amazon. I thought it was going to be another frivolous gadget that I didn't have room for, but boy was I wrong! I get perfect toaster friendly slices and I feel like more slices per loaf too! They always look so nice. For me anyway, it was a worthwhile expense. Though I have do admit, your slices were much straighter and prettier than I ever managed, so maybe not necessary for you. Use your judgement of course! ❤

I'm from PA and not far from Lancaster. Love whoopie pies! I don't make them much cause it does take some time. You made me miss a lot of the foods I was used to (We live in Illinois). Apple butter is one of them, especially on a warm slice of fresh bread, yum. Will be trying the bread and the soup, fall is on the way! Thank you for sharing Lynette!

That Bread looked wonderful, the Whoopi Pies looked wonderful, and I could smell the chowder. You must have been exhausted. I don't know how you do it! I thought your boys were older. They are getting big. Oaklyn is so cute and Harper is growing so quickly. Always love seeing the kids.

When I started making bread I burned out my kitchen aide, then I got a Bosch and have been making bread in that for over 8 yrs.
When I form my bread I roll it out with a rolling pin and then very tightly roll it into the bread form. I think that helps the tops be more smooth.

I was at Roots market in Lancaster Co yesterday. Bought several flavors of whoopie pies. Peach, strawberry, shoefly, pumpkin. As you know, all delicious.

Just a suggestion if you don’t want your bread to puff out on one side let it rise longer before putting in oven! I used to have that problem and discovered that if it doesn’t have to raise as much in oven it won’t do that😊

    I enjoy watching your channel…
The bread looked very beautiful. Growing up we would make 12 loaves of bread a week. (Family of 11 children) we always made it by hand. After the nest started getting empty, we didn’t need as much bread, mom found a smaller recipe that she could make in our large kitchen aid. Well she burnt two kitchen adds making bread in them. 😬 She now has a Bosch mixer and loves it!!
Also, our bread use to make the poof thing on the side, and we discovered we needed to put the in the oven sooner. 🤷🏽‍♀️
I am now hungry for a couple of Whoopie pies! ☺️
