I’m a horrible cook but, with pie crust two things that could help are 1) take into consideration the humidity and adjust the water accordingly 2) after mixing and making it into a ball, wrap tightly with plastic film and refrigerate about an hour to get it cold. It will roll out easier and helps keep it together.
So inspiring to see a mom with new born work so hard, here in southern India we rest for a minimum of three to six months. Love your family. God bless the little cutie pie

I think that is awesome, us Americans (namely, us Mennonites) could definitely learn from this and do more of the same. Growing a baby and giving birth is a lot for our bodies and we should rest for a long time, mentally and physically.
@@MrsMitzel90 I agree. I’m not Mennonite or Amish but I am American and we are all truthfully expected to do too much to soon. Especially women with multiple children.
My mother in law lived with us for 8 months. (Asian heritage) you don't go out for 8 months and have very specific rules about things you can't do/eat. (a LONG time ago you couldn't even wash your hair for 8 months). It's definitely nice though and my mother in law is a saint. My late grandmother was Amish. She married out of the Amish sect. She loved to cook, but unfortunately she wrote down very few recipes. So it's especially nice to watch your video today. It brings back so many fond memories of her. She also lived in Ohio for a time.
Loved listening to you speaking Pennsylvanian Dutch it’s like me speaking Portuguese 😊it’s nice to be bilingual! You’re a great baker, you don’t give yourself enough credit!!! Thanks for sharing Lynette!!! 💕👏🏻👍🏻
The fruit salad you made is identical to the one my mother in law makes. We call it “creamy fruit salad”. My son (when he was 14/15) had cancer. Very few food items were tasty to him. Granny’s fruit salad was #1, so of course, during his 9mo of chemo, we had a lot of that fruit salad around. He still loves it and Granny brings it for special occasions. My son is now 26, cancer in remission 11yrs now, college grad, job in his field, married and an 18mo baby girl! The strawberry/feta salad is my most FAV of all salads! Mmm
My Grandma(Oma) use to make the fruit to keep the fruit longer. The rhubarb she use to make Rhubarb kuchen I dont remember I'f she made the pie.. I remember the broccoli and cauliflower salad during 1980 during family reunion. They are menonite from Rosenthal, Russia. Moved to Winnipeg Canada in 1925. I grew up during 70's and 80's. You brought back some good memories today. Thank You for your videos.
So glad I found your channel I grew up in Ohio near Amish country! Such good foods and recipes I remember as a kid! Live in NC now happy that you’re sharing your recipes can’t wait to try them!
My grampa spoke Pennsylvania Dutch and my husband speaks what we call low German in Canada. Was good to hear you speaking Pennsylvania Dutch. Love things made with rhubarb, so yummy.
I dare anyone to say you neglect your children at ANY time! You honor your culture, your family, and yourself by all that you do. I'm not sure where you find all the hours in the day to do all you do. Sometimes your videos make me tired. I'm like you though my pie crust is hit or miss and I know I really need to work on mine since I eventually want to be as self-sufficient as me and mine can get. I'm originally from Western Maryland and we have a large Amish/Mennonite population. I wish I'd learned to speak Pennsylvania Dutch. I live in Ohio now and my husband doesn't speak it, but can understand it somewhat (comes from years of helping the local farmers bail hay and stuff). I hope you have an amazing week. Your husband would make a terrific diplomat btw.
I enjoyed hearing you speak Pennsylvania Dutch even if I can’t understand much of it. The salads and pie all looked very appetizing. I have never had rhubarb so not sure if I would like it or not. Looking forward to your Holmes County video. I would love to visit there sometime. Safe travels and will see you in your next video.
I love watching you prepare your recipes. I thoroughly enjoy listening to you speak Pennsylvania Dutch. Other cultures interests me. The Hutterite Community is also very interesting. Thank you for the privilege of letting me into your home and to see your life.
My Uncle lived in Pennsylvania and was close friends with the Amish and Mennonite and although he couldn't speak Pennsylvania Dutch he understood it. He was originally from Newfoundland and lived also many years in New Jersey. His accent was one of a kind! Loved your recipes. Gotta say the rhubarb pie looked delicious. Best pastry I ever made I would cut the butter in small squares and mix in the flour with my hands. I haven't made it in years. I am gonna try those recipes when I can afford it. The cost of produce and meat is outrageous here. So nice to see you all.
This former Southern Ohio to Florida Transplant is loving the Pennsylvania Dutch. A note, if you let your pie crust rest in saran wrap in the frig for about an hour, it helps with rolling it out better.
Lynette....Your doing great. I am surely going to try your recipes. I am a widow. I love rhubarb too. My Mother taught me to make a rhubarb cream pie. You make a custard and pour it over the cut up rhubarb in a unbaked pie shell and bake. Our families favorite. I make one for each of my brothers every year since my Mom passed away. 12 years and counting. 😊
another variation on the fruit salad sauce is to use vanilla instant pudding mixed with some juice of choice or strawberry jello or other flavor mixed with some juice.
The rhubarb pie was so easy and so, so good. I split what was left of the pie so my granddaughter could enjoy another slice at home. This morning, my husband and I finished off what w a s left. Delicious!! Thanks for your recipes.

I live surrounded by Amish so I am familiar with a lot of your recipes. I love rhubarb pie but also love rhubarb - strawberry pie. What a precious little one and a cutie big sister. Blessings!!
Looks wonderful. I make a B/C salad like the Amish make it here near Lancaster our Broccoli/Cauliflower salad has the the Broccoli/cauliflower cut into small medium size bites. Then we add red onion cut very small cheese grated or very small chunks golden raisins that have been soaked in a little bit of orange juice (drain the orange juice off and just put the raisins the golden raisins in the salad) Crisp bacon chopped Then the dressing is basically Equal parts mix Sugar, Mayo, apple cider vinegar. So good!!
Its so nice to see you up and about Lynette! Harper is an adorable baby!🤗😊😇 congrads on the success of your pie! Thanks fkr sharing all the recipies. Take care and can't wait for your next!
Considering that my pie crust could cut through steel I commend you on your abilities. Your pie looks fabulous and it's Nick approved. The salad recipes are great, thank you so much.
LOL Harper was so cute when she was just looking and staring at her mama around 5:30. Wow is she super aware of her mama, it must be all those older siblings helping her develope so fast into a sharp mini mama. Kiss and hug everybody for me! Lots of love from Liz, Colton and Chris in Clovis CA.
Everything looked delicious!!! I use to live in Iowa where rhubarb pies and desserts were staples. So good!!! You are so blessed with your beautiful family!!
