  • 🇻🇪 PART ONE: The migrant crises along the USA's southern border has become a hot topic over the last few years with what seems to be an endless stream of people flooding across the border. But where are those migrants coming from, and why? I decided to go to the source of the issue, Venezuela, a country on the verge of collapse, and travel with the migrants north through Central America to understand the issue better. Join me on what will be my most dangerous and longest journey ever undertaken as we cross the infamous Darien Gap and other areas most people avoid unless escaping poverty.
    Joining me on this journey is my good friend @TimmyKarter Please check out his channel to see his version of the trip too.

    Going on local buses, hanging out with local people, being on the ground. This is so much better than most other vloggers that are flying first class and staying at 5 star hotels.
    This trip (so far) reminds me about Bald's travels in India, staying in dodgy hotels in the poor parts of town and talking to people fighting daily to survive. I love that mr Bald is connecting with the lower rungs of society and gives them a voice.

    • @AK-hi7mg
      @AK-hi7mg 7 місяців тому +3

      His videos are calming because he travels like noone else. Or atleast that's what he shows us. He travels like I would travel and do if I'm in the tropics. Drink beer , interact with locals, dont be to serious about it. He has that air of empire about him. It reminds me of the times of the British empire for some reason. Travel to the tropics was way different back then as i heard first hand from my grandma.

    • @d.n.8919
      @d.n.8919 7 місяців тому

      @@ElephantWhisperer222 It is hard, if not impossible, to come legally unless you are something like a doctor or an engineer. or you need to know somebody here. that's why they come illegally. I don't think we should have an open border, but I wish there was some kind of program for these people to get documents in exchange for working. Other countries have such programs. With everything going on recently, I learned that Israel has such a program with Thailand--they allow Thai people to legally reside in Israel and work on farms. Most of the people coming from south America DO work once they reach the States, usually in things like construction and farm labor. And since covid, there have been a lot of unfilled jobs in such fields of work. As long as they are not committing crimes and are working and are paying taxes, I wouldn't care that much if they're here. but we need to know who is coming here to make sure they aren't involved in stuff like cartels. and they need to pay taxes. Unfortunately, politicians are using these people as pawns for their own agendas instead of looking for solutions.

    I seem to get surprised everytime bald goes to a foreign country and meets wonderfully friendly and caring people. It seems to me that reading too many news articles or being on the internet for too long leads to a lack of faith in humanity, even though there is war and terror in the world we still manage to stay happy and hopeful in our small communities. I think Bald's videos can be compared to a type of medicine, a medicine that restores the hope for the future and for kindness that many of us in our modern day have lost, a medicine to humble us and prove our preconceived notions wrong and show us how much there is that we, even in the age of information, remain ignorant to. 2:36 Just a clarification: those thousands and thousands of Venezuelans that cross the border bridge every single year do not go to _"Central America, Northern America and further beyond"_ as that's not were they are aiming to go.
    Actually, most of Venezuelans try to stay in South America itself and have better lives in countries like Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia itself or even Argentina because all of these countries are closer to their homeland, they are culturally more similar to Venezuela and (regardless of the particular living conditions that each of these countries may offer) all of them are way better options than staying in Venezuela.

    • @vinverdu5854

      Oh yeah, I could see in this video that he found some groups of Venezuelans that fled their country but that were not heading to the USA but to Chile (19:33) and Ecuador (24:44).
      It made laugh how surprised he was when he realized that they were considering different countries than the USA as if the US was the only option people could think of. Also, I noticed that in both cases, those Venezuelans ended up saying _"Oh yeah, the USA but maybe in the future"_ out of courtesy after he insisted on asking _"why Chile"_ or _"why Ecuador"_ and _"why not the USA?"_
