Solo On Bogota's Dirtiest Street 🇨🇴

- 🇨🇴 Having checked into my hotel in the centre of Bogota I decided to go and take a walk around and see what the city had to offer. What I found was a place littered with rubbish, toxic smells and well, let's just say the world's oldest profession. However despite all that the people were extremely friendly and we met some Venezuelans who told me what to expect on my journey to their country. Join me on a street tour like no other...
This is part four of the Latin America journey from Cusco to Caracas.

I begin to understand bald's style: Walk tall, walk confidently, talk loud, act friendly to all, draw attention to himself. Bad guys are unlikely to mess with someone who has the full attention of the neighbourhood. And, oh yes, don't stop for long, keep on moving, and move quickly ! Love his stuff !
100%
yup
that can backfire quite easily, carrying around a nice camera.. but I see what you're saying
I'm from El Salvador. It's mainly about not going out alone at night in obvious sketchy places. Go to busy nightcluby places if you want to experience nightlife. The locals will tell you where you can't go. During the day just have common sense. 99% people don't want to fuck with you and just want to go about their day. Just be aware of your surroundings on the streets and you'll be okay.
Also cameraman never dies. This is he biggest life hack😂
I love that Ben walks around Bogota like he's the mayor of the city

I lived in Bogotá (I'm from Sweden) for about three years and never hung out in the city center/downtown. It's chaotic and noisy and crowded and gets dangerous at night. There are lots of nice and safe neighborhoods in Bogotá, further up North in Chapinero and Usaquen. Lovely country and people over all.

@@MV-hx6jr yea it's the capital so it's like a hot spot for gangs
@@MV-hx6jr of course. There is the tolerance neighborhood of Bogota, where a big part of drug dealers, h00k3rs and bandits live. There is a very famous robbery mode which is called millionaires trip, where they drug you and they kidnap you for one to two days and they empty your credit cards, bank accounts, etc. he also went very close to one of the biggest micro traffic places in Latam. What Ben shows us is that wherever you go in the world 99% of people are friendly, happy to chat and good humoured. I've found the same wherever I've gone. The bit you have to worry about is how dangerous the 1% are. Ben is a polyglot - he is fluent in Russian, his Spanish is good enough to have conversations with people - and that's what makes the video so enjoyable - hearing from the "person on the street" (literally!). I'd love to visit Colombia but I wouldn't be as brave as Ben wandering around some ot those streets.
I was there. My wife is from colombian carribian (and hence no fan at all of the "rolos") - she is always scared in her own country. The problem is reading the press. It is full of graphic pictures of murders, street crime. We live in Berlin which i no cloud cookoo home either. Reading the BILD newspaper here meanwhile reads similar as popular colombian papers like Q'Hubo. 🙂

To those interested in what the man said at 10:12
Here's my translation:
"and if you go up here... did you take the one with the car? that one won the contest, the one with the car and the death. That one was the best drawing"
He was basically telling him to check out another painting
thank you i was looking for this, seems pretty plausible
The thing that impresses me most is how casually he carries around what must be a decent camera or phone, right up in his own face, all around these terrible neighborhoods. It's hilarious, I’ve been in some rough areas but I would never have the balls to even do that.
@@frenchonion4595 better bring back up.
@@frenchonion4595 it can be bad during the day too if no cops around. That area looks very sketchy.
Coming from the Venezuela video to this I can say that at least from what you showed in the video it looks way safer and cleaner over there.
Sure, it looks more "poor" and what not but at least the vibe was completely different and what not.
This place made me quite anxious even tho I wasn't there. Like... sheesh.
Anywhoo, thank you for showing us this. I really love it.
He said Peligroso contigo 🤣🤣🤣, I won’t even trust my own shadow down there lol…..keep up the good work Pelon
I live in a small beach town in florida and a lot of Colombians come here for seasonal work in the summer. They are hands down the friendliest ppl I've ever met anywhere. It's so sad they deal with such poverty but they are so upbeat about life. I've been invited to visit there multiple times but running a small business it's hard to get away. Next winter I may see about going
What did that guy say to him at the painting of the grandma
Seasonal work? Isn't the Florida climate pretty stable?
The people that truly understand how shitty things can be are usually the nicest.
@@Snufkin224 tourists from the north come in winter
@@bricesanderlin8267 he was telling him to check out another graffiti that won the contest on the next street
Hello nice to see you in my country Colombia like your soviet videos!
Thanks for giving to those girls 🙏🏽
I actually didn't know about your channel, and I was surprised by how well you navigate through that area. It's quite dangerous, but you handled it like a local. The two guys on the motorcycle who called out to you are also UA-camrs who create content about the city. While you did the right thing by being cautious of them, they are good people and admire your content. Nice video
He is a ex british spy hes been trained to blend in
He’s incredibly intelligent, he doesn’t give himself enough credit
Ai..
This guy is not afraid of anything)) In addition, his height and at the same time friendliness arouse respect and positive feelings among people.
He's awesome I've watched him for few years now I love watching
