When I was deployed to Afghanistan, the girls in the beauty shop were from Kyrgyzstan. Random comment, I know, but they were very nice, and the bit of peace and quiet while getting a hair wash/cut, was something I'll never forget- the quiet, wooden building, the warm winter sun making the room warm, the sound of the hairdressers voices as they chatted, the warm water...

Thank you so much for going to Kyrgyzstan and in general Central Asia! I'm currently doing a bulk of my graduate work on the former Soviet Union states including Central Asia. So seeing basically a virtual tour of these often forgotten and ignored places is amazing. I especially loved the Moldova video, as depressing it was. There's so little content on Central Asia, especially Kyrgyzstan (that's in English). I'm so excited to see the videos to come!
Fun fact...I lived here in Bishkek for 3 months during my US military days in 2010. I have those very mountains in many videos. I even white water rafted there, ate really good food in the more busy towns and partied my ass off every night. Really good memories.
All these ex-soviet small villages really open my eyes about how big the world is, like they're exist. I like when Mr. Bald go to some small random unknow villages like they're real!!!!
It's amazing that even all the way across the world in such a different culture people still interact with each other just the same way. We're all the same and if more people could recognize that and have empathy the world would be a much better place.

The place doesn't look like it gets a lot of visitors. Bald might've been the first stranger she's met in years.
My thoughts exactly.
Interested * is the right world bro
@@medmusic7977 word* We all make mistakes :)
There is nothing to forgive for being financially poor. At times, those are some of the richest people on this planet and with her I think you struck gold. Wonderful woman.
I'm sure she talked even more than we were shown here, but honestly, I'd listen to a full video of people like her. I hope Bald doesn't cut these experiences off in the future and really takes time to show them and let these people speak. He has a real chance to give a voice to people who never would otherwise have one. She made me cry with how sweet she was.
@@r0ckbass I agree...I would also like to hear more from her, much more... she is knowledgeable...and soulful. What's the use of driving past endless structures...entering hotels...eating...if you can't listen to a special person's knowledge. She almost needs a seperate little video on her own.
That's right. I've learned that some of the world's best people live in some of the worst places.
Mr. Bald, this has been a very difficult year for all of us. Your videos take me out of this quarantine nightmare depression and out into the world that I one day wish to explore. I saw a new Bald and Bankrupt video was posted and I instantly felt less depressed, thank you! Cheers from locked down Toronto!

There are travel channels that show you flashy expencive hotels, luxury baths, posh night life. And here you'll find how world really looks like.
Oh she's gold. I'd follow someone new around, chatting if I lived there, the poor darling probably sees the same few people all the time.
If it wasn't for Bald no one would have realised how much they should visit that Ukrainian club in the middle of Kyrgyzstan.
Bald should get a side hustle sticking a 360 cam to his cars for google maps
Im a simple swede, i here the name Poltava, i shiver
Soviet street, Lenin, baboushkas...
Chewie, we’re home
*roars in soviet
Even cat flips in Soviet!
Lmao
you are so right,man!
Even the cat seems to be from Soviet times
Damn it Bald I was just about to take a nap.
How can you now!😆
Same here, but I got happy when he released a new video.
Aren't we all glad, the Bald is back in his "home" ? Get ready for the soviet road, soviet street, soviet sink in a soviet bathroom, soviet bed in a soviet room in a soviet hotel, soviet stuff in an abandoned soviet building, soviet trees in a soviet forest, and all things soviet. I so love his soviet videos, am so glad he's back!
This looks like he's walking around a pubg map

After those days in México, he really needed to Say 'soviet' again so Bad.
What a terrible invention the Soviet Union was. Like hell.

Great travelogue as usual, enjoy the historical references.
She was a very lovely lady, how sweet of her to show him around and share her price! ☺️
wonder how these people in the small little villages would feel if they knew millions of foreigners would be watching them
bald has become a minor celebrity in some of the places hes visited
I've stayed in hotels that were nearly as sketchy as that and they still charged $40-80 USD.
The lady at the club was so passionate about her home!
@ The one I'm thinking of was in Ohio. xD
Lol
@@ASHERUISE Is Ohio a country? I guess it's another nonfamous Soviet country.

Wow you westerners truly have it worse than everyone in the world, it's amazing! There is literally no video showing the horrible conditions in some forgotten part of the world without some privileged smug american complaining that in America it is even worse.
My wife is Kyrgyz so spent a lot of time there! Nice to see the country in your channel! The nature there is just breathtaking! Well worth exploring. The mountain drives are epic! Man don’t just stick to shorpo! Try Manti (dumplings) Plov (fried rice) besh barmak (soup and noodle) and they also do shashliik! Enjoy the trip, look forward to more videos of the journey. Enjoy
Please never stop making these videos. We’re about the same age & I will still watch until I’m 100 if you keep going.
Nothing better than watching old Bald videos, and getting a notification of a new upload :)
Especially when it is Soviet! 😄
Just when I was losing all sanity, Benjamin comes up with the goods.

'forgive us please that we are such a poor country' - that really choked me up 😔
It is really remarkable that people really have *nothing* there, and they are still so very friendly and positive. It is really charming actually.
Happy to see you back in the former Soviet countries :)
They always say if you have low expectations then you live a happier life. Sometimes too much can make you unhappy in the long term.
Oh, first I thought "beauty shop" was just a euphemism for brothel. 😁
@@eily_b You're not alone... :D
@@eily_b lol, where are you? That's funny. A lot of places in the States, it's the phrase for a hair salon (I couldn't think of that one when I was commenting)- just hair, nails, pedicures, etc nothing else!! Lol... :) Cheers
@@SaturnusDK I'm so naive...I immediately got beauty salon and not another thing at all :)
@@eily_b I think I put it in quotations, because the normal words seemed pretty extravagant for what it was, lol. Maybe I'll remove them!! 🙄😳🤭🤣
A small addendum: the Ukrainian woman said that in the old days there were swamps and even tigers at Poltavka. BTW, my compliments on your Russian.
Someday our own villages and cities will look like that too.
Enjoy it while it last!
Thanks Bald. Your adventures are a critical part of my survival of covid Cabin fever/depression. I think it is a great contribution to bring more people aware of how thousands of good people live out happy lives on the most simplest of supplies and services. In a way I envy them.
classic bald and bankrupt content here. old soviet architecture, chatting with the locals, a bit of history and great banter.
unknown local food
Dont forget the spy mission
Really quiet depressing for that people who leaves in extremely in financial crisis government is so corrupt and we don't even realised why poverty has a huge population.
My days are always better when Bald uploads
Welcome back!! I love to follow you with a Google Earth and research all the fascinating places you go but what I treasure most are your interactions with everyday people all full of loving and soulful life pleased to show you their world. Thank you, Mr. Bald, for expanding our world horizons!
i’m glad you’re back to exploring! covid really makes me miss traveling but until we’re allowed to travel again i’ll live vicariously through you!!

I will never complain about my life again.
The lady with the gold grill was super stoked to just have someone to talk to.

The sad sight of this just makes me cry. These poor people did not deserve this. Hopefully one day other countries start to leak into this nation.
When they tell you the world is overpopulated, just remember the Russian countryside

Steering wheel on the right ride? Lols Bald feels like home.
I'm so glad Bald and Bankrupt does these videos. I find it so interesting to see how people in these countries live so much so that I haven't even watched the Mexico videos. These places are so different, so isolated, so poor in many cases, so simple. There's not a life for miles, there's nothing interesting (or so it seems) where they live, yet, it's interesting to me to learn about their soviet past and how things are today.
The woman in the club also mentions that the "swamp" which was there, also had tigers around as it was so barren back then.
Are you Russian?
