First time I heard this it brought tears to my eyes. Kirstie's lead is fantastic and when she wails with emotion - wow. The cello, Avi's emotional solo - all of it. You might want to watch their rendition of Shallow to see Kirstie and Scott working well together. Along with everyone else of course!!!
PTX painted a picture with this song. Avi and Kirsten really acted like they were actually breaking up. So much emotion. love your reactions. ❤️ from Oklahoma
This is where I fell in love with Kirstie's voice. And got to see Kevin's cello-boxing. And heard Avi sing that he had to go... There was only so much 'upbeat' they could infuse into this song, so they did their signature crescendo then fade. Thanks for an honest reaction.
This is one of my favorites by Pentatonix. Probably because it's Kirstie and Avi at the lead. Avi is my man. From the beginning it was Avi and Mitch. That first night I watched them on Sing off about 11 years ago, I musically imprinted on them LOL. Avi leaving was devastating to me. I admit I was stubborn about Matt, but got over it. All's well that ends well. Avi has his absolutely stunning solo work that he openly admits never would have happened if he stayed with PTX and that would have been a tragedy to lose the work he has put out since leaving. Matt doing a smashing job at Bass and tenor. I just love this group. Great reaction. I subbed the other day on a Dimash video I know this video is old but just wanted to leave a comment 😎
Thank you for reacting to this song. Most reactors don't do this one. I love the minimalism of the video and the arrangement. I have never heard the original, so when they first put this out if was a bit of a shock. But it highlights Kirstie so well. And they always build the song as it goes in a way that I so love. So much emotion in a tight package.
great reaction! keep it up because i actually would love to see your other reactions of ptx. "No", "Gold", "Hallelujah" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" live performances, "Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy" (this one, you'll be blown away by mitch and avi), and "Down" (Marian Hill Cover) by our amazing beatboxer, Kevin, are worth trying!
It was an easy choice for them to have Avi take that solo. Scott even mentioned in one of the live videos that they always had Avi sing the emotional songs, and you can tell why in this one. If you want to check out the song Scott was specifically referring to, it's "Standing By". ua-cam.com/video/GyARVE4ijrk/v-deo.html
He said the same thing as his reason for wanting Avi to do his (Scott’s) song, the beautiful Light in the Hallway, written to honor the birth of Scott’s nephew.
❤❤❤ Thank you so much for posting this link!! I have never seen or heard this and I am so glad to have seen it. This song is so beautiful and Avi is so AMAZING!!!
Love PTX, love your reactions, this was easy. I love Christina too, not so much all her music, just love listening to her sing live, she has pipes for real. This was good. That last passage with the build was 🔥🔥🔥 PTX rocks.
Kevin and his cello play a big part in their remarkable collaboration with violinist/dancer Lindsey Stirling, covering Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive." Very cool video too.
This is one of my all time favorites!!! Listen to it all the time. Maybe listen to their version of Shallow. Another Kirstin lead! Thanks for the reaction
Kevin's initial youtube video that got Scott Hoying and Ben Bram's attention was with the cello. He coined the term "cello boxing". Kirstie is highlighted and so amazing in this one. Any time Avi is onboard I hear his warm lows and the emotion in his voice and expression is stunning. Thank you so much for your heartfelt reaction. :)
Yet another PTX performance that I think is better than the original. They just work magic with any song they take on, making it fresh and rich. Just love this.
You should check out their cover of a Cosmo Sheldrake song called Come Along. It’s a real upbeat, catchy tune I think you would enjoy. You may want to listen to Cosmo’s version to familiarize yourself with the tune before you see what PTX does with it. Thanks for all the awesome Pentatonix reactions so far. Please keep them coming❣️
A live video you should react to is Aha- Singapore- Star Vista. It is a fan filmed video so the quality is off, but it shows just how talented they are. Especially Mitch and Avi.
I'd love to see you react to their cover of Making Christmas. So few reactors do it for some reason (that I've seen at least), but it's awesome! The video is really great too.
They call themselves a band, so no worries. They made amazing use of dissonance in this song and obviously let the lyrics and their voices say it all. Thank you for a good reaction.
Hay, you should watch Kevin Olusola - Stay with me (cover). He’s so talented with his voice, whether it be beatboxing or singing. He’s also good with many other instruments other than the cello. I’m sure you would love him.
They always call themselves a "band", so I do too. If you want to know how to pronounce Kirstie's name, here is a famous quote from her in an interview a few years ago: "My name is Kirstie. It rhymes with Thirsty. You're thirsty for Kirstie. It's a nickname for Kirstin. It rhymes with Thirstin'. You're thirstin' for Kirstin!" I read another commenter on one of their cover reactions write something that I am now using freely myself: Pentatonix doesn't cover songs, they UPGRADE them.
can you react to pentatonix cheerleader, the feeling cant hold us they rap in this song. new rules, love again, daft punk, can you feel the love tonight, mary did you know. also scott hoying and mario jose lost on you
Yes younger!! Kevin broke out Beyonce(Cello) to show a style he made "Cello-boxing" Kirstin singing so tender..then the power comes..her voice cuts through anything when she goes for it.
This was one of Kirstin's first big leads. I'm going to guess 2014 based on Mitch, though I'm being lazy and not verifying. Not one I listen to a whole lot even though it's really good... just not enough Mitch for me, if I'm being honest 😅 But Kirstin didn't have many dedicated solos because she wasn't very confident until after her stint on Broadway during the transition from Avi (and you can see the jump in her confidence and craft, both, afterward).
Avi had a livestream concert a few weeks ago. I wish you could have heard it. His voice has progressed fabulously. I thought I had heard his best voice, but NO! That concert was full of the most beautiful sounds.
Either "band" or "group" is fine, no problem. I've heard members say both. For a bouncy up-tempo one (with Matt especially bouncy on the bass line), with something good for everyone, try their Charlie Puth cover, "Attention."
If you want to see something from them that is just FUN....check out their Sesame Street collab...here is the link....(1) Sesame Street: Pentatonix Counts (& Sings) to Five - UA-cam
Kirstie's lead in "Rather Be" is awesome. One of my favorite PTX performances
Awesome reaction. This song had me ugly crying the way they did it.
PTX painted a picture with this song. Avi and Kirsten really acted like they were actually breaking up. So much emotion. love your reactions. ❤️ from Oklahoma
Smart, sophisticated arrangement executed perfectly. 🤗
This is where I fell in love with Kirstie's voice. And got to see Kevin's cello-boxing. And heard Avi sing that he had to go... There was only so much 'upbeat' they could infuse into this song, so they did their signature crescendo then fade. Thanks for an honest reaction.
For upbeat songs, "sing", an original, and "Cant Hold Us". Both are just awesome. Thanks.

Truly special! Thanks for posting.
I LOVE Avi's solo in this absolutely beautiful cover by PTX ~ Great reaction!
You and me both Tom, I love Pentatonix to. I wish you could play more of their work. Thank you so much for sharing this video xx
This is one of my absolute favorites. It’s just a beautiful song
Avis part in this always gives me chills
ME TOO
Most of their newer stuff Kirstie has been really shining!
Thank you for reacting to this song. Most reactors don't do this one. I love the minimalism of the video and the arrangement. I agree they can sing your socks off. I also appreciate their ability to show such strong emotions. ♥️

Check out BE MY EYES, its an original of theirs, and Kirsten co wrote it, and she is the lead vocal in this one.
Such an emotional song! Love PTX and your reactions! Thanks!

This one got me to subscribe! Great review. I love PTX. Their song New Rules is very upbeat.
Over The River will blow you away
If you like their upbeat style, you should check out their original song, "Sing." It is one of my absolute favorites! ❤
Love "Sing"!!
Agreed!
Love PTX, love your reactions, this was easy. I love Christina too, not so much all her music, just love listening to her sing live, she has pipes for real.
This was good.
That last passage with the build was 🔥🔥🔥
PTX rocks.
A great upbeat PTX cover is of Ariana Grande's "Problem".
If you haven't, check out their original "Love Again". It is amazing! I think their most creative original ever!
Kevin and his cello play a big part in their remarkable collaboration with violinist/dancer Lindsey Stirling, covering Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive." Very cool video too.
Check out their covers of Havana and Kiera’s Gold. 🔥🔥🔥💃🏽💃🏽
Kirstin, rather be, favourite things and be my eyes ( she wrote that)
This is one of my all time favorites!!! Listen to it all the time. Maybe listen to their version of Shallow. Another Kirstin lead! Thanks for the reaction
They've never covered a song that they haven't done better than the original...
Check out Kevin playing the cello and beatboxing he's a freakin beast and he has an amazing voice dude he does everything ✌️❣️

Thank you for a good reaction.
Great reaction! They prefer "band". Also I am sure 20 people have said it but it is Kirstie which rhymes with "thirsty".
Hay, you should watch Kevin Olusola - Stay with me (cover). He’s so talented with his voice, whether it be beatboxing or singing. He’s also good with many other instruments other than the cello. I’m sure you would love him.
Yes and his KOver of Down is awesome too!
Kevin.... Beatboxing while playing the cello. Need to go back and listen to the beatboxing.
Check out Kevin Osula, his voice and electric cello doing a cover of "Down". You'll be glad you did!
Band is just fine.
I believe they call themselves a band.
They always call themselves a "band", so I do too. If you want to know how to pronounce Kirstie's name, here is a famous quote from her in an interview a few years ago: "My name is Kirstie. do you remember the name of the interview??
This is definitely baby PTX. Around the same time as love again and daft punk.
Try amazing grace.
Beyonce, the cello, IS a member of Pentatonix. 😁
Please react to La La Latch and Havana by Pentatonix

It was 2014. I remember seeing the behind the scenes of this video in 2014's PTX Experience.
I really love the songs where Kirstin takes center stage like this one and "Shallow," and "The Wizard of Ahhhs."
Avi had a livestream concert a few weeks ago.
I wish you could have heard it. His voice has progressed fabulously.
I thought I had heard his best voice, but NO! That concert was full of the most beautiful sounds.
Totally agreee
You should go back and watch their performances on the sing off season 3
Try the original "Say Something" that they covered. 🎶
It’s Kirsty, rhymes with thirsty
You guys have to check out NF - How could you leave us, and Remember this! he speaking facts in that one!
Either "band" or "group" is fine, no problem. I've heard members say both. For a bouncy up-tempo one (with Matt especially bouncy on the bass line), with something good for everyone, try their Charlie Puth cover, "Attention."
Please react to CLUTCH (the best band you've never heard of ©). I suggest for your first go, either Electric Worry (their most well-known song), Burning Beard, 10001110101 or A Quick Death In Texas.
FYI...this same comment will appear ONLY if I have watched your reaction video. I am not here to spam your channel...I just want to help get a great band some much deserved recognition. P.S....I will always give your reactions a thumbs-up, even if I don't care for or like the band or song you react to...because I like you and your channel.
Cheers!
