Kirstie makes me cry every time. This song is a lamentation of lost love. I feel her pain all the way through. The supporting cast is awesome as always.
It is a truly wonderful version of this song. I could listen to it all day long. Avi was great, Kirstie was fantastic, Mitch and Scott we amazing, and Kevin. I don't have words to express my awe for Kevin's talent. I just love them all.
They wanted this video to look like a piece of artwork (Painting) which is why they're predominantly standing so still. Scott always sings with his hands...so he must be clinging onto the backs of those chairs like his life depended on it haha...
Kirstie emotes so well when she sings! She also is able to let out a cry and she does that a couple of times in this one and absolutely breaks my heart! I also love Avi singing in that part of his register and there are a couple of other Pentatonix songs in which he sang in this part of his register. one of them, "Light In The Hallway", can be found in audio version on UA-cam. It's on their self-titled album and I highly recommend it. Scott wrote it for his newborn nephew with Avi in mind as The Soloist. It's absolutely beautiful and it makes me think of my grandchildren when they are afraid at night. And then of course I get all teary-eyed.. what grandma wouldn't? But I do manage exercise self-control and don't call my daughter to make sure that there's a light on for the kids! I enjoyed your reactions very much! And yes Kevin is beyond talented!
Kevin did "cello boxing" on UA-cam, which is where Scott discovered him and he was then asked to join the group. You should check out Kevin's cover of "Down", it truly shows off all his skills. Whether you do or not, I love watching you reactions. Thanks for sharing this bit of yourselves with us!!
The thing that always impressed me about Avi, is that he would do the most subtle thing, a hum, or hold a note, and it would add so much to the song. As much as I love his solo work, I really miss him in Pentatonix.
Chills all over....every time I listen to this one. Appreciated all of your comments. So beautiful and beautifully done. Kevin's beat & cello, Kirsten's lead, Avi's tone, Scott & Mitch filling the background perfectly into a complete whole, the building. This song was soft and powerful at the same time! One of my PTX faves. thanks, guys, enjoyed it so much!
Avi singing the double bass line in perfect duet with Beyoncé (Kevin’s cello) is hands down my favourite Pentatonix musical moment. It just shows their intrinsic musical connection - even when Kevin is using a different “voice” - because that cello of his *absolutely* sings in his hands. Just perfection.
Kevin only plays his cello a handful of times in PTX performances but when he does, like in this video, it helps free up the bass (Avi here) to sing and harmonize more by taking over bass-line duties.
It would be tough for a human... But Kevin isn't human! He's clearly visiting us from the planet Krypton, we just haven't seen the big "S" under his shirt yet. This is one of my favorites of their early videos. The first one I saw that had Kirstie singing lead (or having one of the most prominent solos), and I absolutely love her voice.
Great reaction, as usual! This is a great Kirstie lead, one of the few. Another is PTX Rather Be. I think you'd like that one, too. It was filmed while they were on tour in Japan, and you get to see them walking around a marketplace as they sing. Please react to that one, if you haven't already.
Their cover of "Rather be" has also Kirstie's lead and beautiful Scömiche harmonies in the background. Also fun to watch are Kirstie, Scott and Mitch's performance in the TV-show "BONES"
And it's soooo amazingly beautiful in concert! They were doing this in concert... 2014.. ? To test the waters to see if it would be acceptable to their fans to add cello... it was a hit... lol
Every time I watch this I get goosebumps! Plus, with their performance, you can't help but feel every ounce of emotion in your heart. Because this is so outstanding they kept drawing me in and I had to remind myself to watch your reactions. 😉 Great job on that! (I've often wondered the same about Kevin when he mixes the cello and beatboxing.)
People may have already commented on this, but listening to PTX (well, anyone, really, but especially PTX) is SO much better with good quality headphones. I was lazy and never bought any, but one day my dad realized I was listening to PTX without any headphones, and he took me to task lol. I finally went out and got some, and couldn't believe the difference. You'll have Kevin beatboxing in your left ear, Avi's base in the right ear, etc. I highly recommend you try it out! xo
First let me say sweet heart you have one of the most beautiful smile that I have ever seen. And This songs is beautiful and they did a amazing job covering it. They are very talented artist. Great Reaction Stay Safe
I'd recommend checking out their version of Dancing On My Own. It was released after Avi left, so it's another on with Kevin playing Cello, and it's phenomenal
One of my many all-time-favourites! Everything about this one just moved me in ways nothing else has ever done. I enjoyed your comments and agree with everything you said. Thanks for posting.
Kevin was awarded a scholarship to Yale, where he won the Cello Chair. He alao speaks Chinese fluently! Talk about a prodigy! Avi is a trained operatic basso profondo and then there are the original trio!
Kevin played Carnegie Hall at 17, saxophone. He was accepted to college at Stanford and Harvard. He graduated pre-med. He speaks Mandarin Chinese. As well as everything else. He is amazing.
Nice comments. A big fan I’d PTX since they won the show “Sing Off!” in 2013. Keep checking out their older songs too. Avi is such a beast. Songs like Rose Gold, Run to You, Imagine Dragons cover, Rather Be, Love Again, Cheerleader, Jolene, On my way home....keep it up!
Being Kevin fans I think you should react to Kevin in a show called "From The Top" live from Carnegie Hall. He Was only 17 and plays an amazing saxophone, He talks of his achievements at that time and does a bit of beatboxing. 8 to 9 min.s long
Avi's part in this song I think it the most beautiful solo in any PTX song, next to the ones he had in Angels We Have Heard On High and Joy To the World. A couple others pretty ones are I Need Your Love and Somebody That I Used To Know.
Loved 🥰 your reaction new subbie I think you would love their dancing on my own cover this is the first song they did when avi left the group Kevin also plays Beyoncé in that video as well
Kevin and Beyonce return in Shallow where he gearboxes as well. Kristy and Scott are the leads in that one as well. They took a Lady Gaga Song that she killed and actually made it better (as they tend to do with everything they sing). I recommend that one next. Or Cheerleader if you want to see a fun song where everyone smiles when they sing. Even Mitch!
and can you imagine the phone call when Kevin called his parents and told them he was quitting Med School to do music full time! LOLOLOL Kevin is brilliance incarnate!!!!
Great, great, great reaction. Kevin is an alien. Please check out the songs the others have suggested. (Especially "Down" and "Renegade") Also, just so you know he plays the saxophone amazingly (I have provided a link from when he was 17 playing at Carnagie Hall, please react) he invented Cello-boxing, speaks fluent Mandarin and lived in China for a year as a young American ambassador. We never want to say which member is best, however, all the members of PTX even feel that KO is the most, overall talented. We love them all for their gifts and this again was a great reaction. Much love and keep on keepin on J. ua-cam.com/video/cg-WQl3YCVY/v-deo.html
Check out Superfruit. It's Scott and Mitch. They did their own thing. They did a Frozen episode with Kirsten, the kids will love it. A little heads up stay to the VERY end ( bloopers)
This is my favorite PTX song!! I can’t tell you how many times I have listened to it. I connect to it personally and they sing it from the heart. (I’m happily married so it’s not about my marriage)
Hey, could you guys react to/watch Floor Jansen and Henk Poort's rendition of "Phantom of the Opera"? Also you might want to start out with Nightwish and their song "Ghost Love Score" cause Floor Jansen is their singer!! You and your family rocks 🤘
Please check out Kevin "KO" Olusola's own youtube channel if you want to hear him sing, beatbox and play the cello more. His cover of Down is outstanding.
Don't know if you've ever heard their one rule. They never do a video of anything they can't do live. Get the chance, go to a concert. They are even better live.
Kevin's cello boxing got praise from Yo-Yo Ma himself in a cello competition in China. I wish Kevin would sing more but I think that's a decision on his part not to.
I'll keep saying it. I love your reactions, King Family! :D I'll also second both Michelle and Andrea on their picks for Kevin songs to check out. For Kirstie led songs I would like to request PTX's Rather Be (Clean Bandit Cover): ( ua-cam.com/video/OPWPa-HMpj8/v-deo.html ). I believe they shot the video while off doing one of their world tours. Also, one I don't think many have seen is: Why Try - Forte (feat. Kirstin Maldonado) ( ua-cam.com/video/iEJ98tpHNRs/v-deo.html ). Take care. :)
Please react to Dimash’s Sinful Passion and Love is Like a Dream, Love of Tired Swans and Olimpico. Those are some of his top performances and you still have not reacted to any of them yet. If you are going in chronological order, then I suggest you do exceptions every now and then, because otherwise it will take forever for you to finally get to some of his best performances which I counted above. Just do an exception to your “chronological” rule and react to Sinful Passion please.
King Family Reacts Official Video say Something-Pentatonix A Great Big World &Christina Aguilera Cover Reaction I love you Mitch Grassi I love you Scott Hoying I love you Kevin O s u o l a I love you Avi I love you Kirstie M Erin Bloodworth
Easily one of my favorites of theirs. I love this song.
Kirstie makes me cry every time. This song is a lamentation of lost love. I feel her pain all the way through. The supporting cast is awesome as always.
Headphones headphones headphones headphones oh and btw headphones are a MUST to truly enjoy all the nuances of PTX
Early reaction. We use them now 😉
This is my favorite Pentatonix song. Beautiful.
It is a truly wonderful version of this song. I could listen to it all day long. Avi was great, Kirstie was fantastic, Mitch and Scott we amazing, and Kevin. I don't have words to express my awe for Kevin's talent. I just love them all.
Avi has the most warm, buttery upper range 😩 I adore him here.
Couldn't have said it better myself 😭💚
ME TOO
They wanted this video to look like a piece of artwork (Painting) which is why they're predominantly standing so still. Scott always sings with his hands...so he must be clinging onto the backs of those chairs like his life depended on it haha...
This remains my favorite Pentatonix song. Its just...perfect.

I'm a grown man and this makes me cry every single time
Kevin did "cello boxing" on UA-cam, which is where Scott discovered him and he was then asked to join the group. You should check out Kevin's cover of "Down", it truly shows off all his skills.
Whether you do or not, I love watching you reactions. Thanks for sharing this bit of yourselves with us!!
They should also check out Kevin's original cello-boxing performance of "Julie-O" that Scott found on UA-cam. ua-cam.com/video/NKVNrrrNxU0/v-deo.html
Unconditionally one of their best pieces. You did a good analysis.
The thing that always impressed me about Avi, is that he would do the most subtle thing, a hum, or hold a note, and it would add so much to the song. As much as I love his solo work, I really miss him in Pentatonix.
Totally agreee
Me too. Even though I like Matt I miss Avi with PTX.
Chills all over....every time I listen to this one. Appreciated all of your comments. So beautiful and beautifully done. Kevin’s song- ‘Renegade’ is phenomenal. It grows and grows into something that’ll blow your mind 😍
Their cover of "Rather be" has also Kirstie's lead and beautiful Scömiche harmonies in the background. Also fun to watch are Kirstie, Scott and Mitch's performance in the TV-show "BONES"
I can’t listen to this one without getting choked up. I think it’s one of the more underrated PTX covers, but it’s in my top 5. Just gorgeous.
Kirstie is a good actress, she was on broadway"kinky boots" Here she she looks like she ready to cry at any moment.
And it's soooo amazingly beautiful in concert! They were doing this in concert... 2014.. ? To test the waters to see if it would be acceptable to their fans to add cello... it was a hit... lol
One of my top 10 favs of theirs
I love watching the pure joy on both of your faces. I also have to say, your wife has a lovely smile.
One of my all time favorites from them!!! Thank you for reacting to this! 💞
Love the passion in your voice as you talk about Kevin!!
Every time I watch this I get goosebumps! Plus, with their performance, you can't help but feel every ounce of emotion in your heart. Because this is so outstanding they kept drawing me in and I had to remind myself to watch your reactions. 😉
Great job on that!

Yes. The cello takes Avi's bass part in this.

another outstanding original song is love again...done soon after daft punk....i highly recommend it. I'd love to see you react to it.
One of my favorite things is when they layer the harmonies! They do it in Cheerleader and several other songs, and always sounds amazing.
Agree with everything you both said. Thanks for another great reaction. 😊

We hear so much about Scott, mitch, avi and some on Kristen. But Kevin doesn't get the attention that he deserves. Love your reactions!!!
Rather Be is another song that Kristen took lead
Kevin and Beyonce return in Shallow where he gearboxes as well. Kristy and Scott are the leads in that one as well. They took a Lady Gaga Song that she killed and actually made it better (as they tend to do with everything they sing). I recommend that one next. Or Cheerleader if you want to see a fun song where everyone smiles when they sing. Even Mitch!
I don't know how Beatboxes turned into gearboxes but I meant beatboxes.
May I suggests you react to PTX's cover of Perfect? Matt is bass when they did the cover. One of my favorites that often gets overlooked.
and can you imagine the phone call when Kevin called his parents and told them he was quitting Med School to do music full time! LOLOLOL Kevin is brilliance incarnate!!!!
Beyonce could actually be considered the 6th member/voice that they let out on special occasions.
If you don’t know, Kevin went to Yale. Extremely smart man and soooo talented. Of course they all are extremely talented
Great, great, great reaction. Kevin is an alien. Please check out the songs the others have suggested.
