outlaw country will never die as long as men like this are born.
True... I am thinking this next gen's music should be called Outlaw Folk.
@@brendonleary you mean REAL country
Bluegrass/real country/folk it’s all intersectional
rather "as long as MEN are born"
100% correct!
Honestly the only thing Colter has in common with Cash is the deepness of voice. His intonation, dialect, vibrato, and just his voice in general is completely unique. Honestly he is better than cash.
I agree that he's fantastic, but Cash is a legend in this industry. There should be no serious comparisons to any of the original Highwaymen. They stand alone.
Better singer just maybe but that’s not everything when it comes to country music, there’s more to being an artist and musician than just vocals.
calm down
Hey some one said it! I think they are both great, but certainly not the same.
yeah i agree, cash also didn’t have as much instrumental talent as colter does.
I've seen him live twice, and was fortunate enough to hang out with him both times. He's a very humble guy, super nice.
he is so down to earth!
He's coming to Barcelona, Spain in February. Can't wait for that experience!
Bought the man a few drinks last night and what an incredible presence he has
keithdasneaks94 ...how'd you pull that off? Had a dream last week his manager said to me "just make eye contact with Colter and you'll get a kiss and the first dance of the night!" I cannot wait for his concert in Boise, Idaho on Monday 5-7-18!! You can bet I'm making "eye contact", old enough to be his mama... I don't care!
@@jessicahutchinson9348 So ... ??? Was the concert all you anticipated ? 😊
I’ve been playing smoky cowboy bars since 1984 and I’ve never heard anyone as good as colter wall. This young man is as good as it gets.
Met Colter at “Off Broadway” in St. Louis. Great dude! Funny story too! I just walked up and shook his hand, he was leaning against the building having a smoke.. we introduced eachother and I told him I like his style.. he replied with a humble “thank you” and looked me dead in the eyes. I asked him if he had seen much of the City.. etc.. shootin the breeze..anyway, as I light a smoke I turn and look and realized that apparently there were people lining up or possibly had been lined up and I just cut line and walked up to him..! I said “Oh shit, was this a line of people here? He goes “ Shoot idk man, it’s all new to me.” Lmao I apologized just in case. Nice kid Lol
I met him and had a great few moments with him too. Super humble guy. Such a talent. Cheers bro!
That's a cool story everyone says hes cool in the comments itd be cool to meet him
I'm absolutely crushed I missed him at Off Broadway!!!
Great story! We would love to have you in Wisconsin, Colter!
I really hope this kid doesn't burn up like so many other stars.
I really hope that. He's just unbelievable.
I met him last night and bought the man a few drinks. He is incredibly level headed and down to earth! Go see him ifn you get the chance
Stars burn
He isn't a "star" and all those "stars" will literally be burned up
He seems to pace himself well so I think he’s good.
Imagine him and Tyler Childers on the same bill.
I know they do a song together "Fraulein" on Wall's debut album
Under the Big Sky 2020
Fraulein
Absolutely, I would be on the front line for tickets and on the front row to enjoy them both.
@@bradyjones1668 if only that song was longer
From the UK and I've never listened to country music before all I can say is what a great way to be introduced what a voice
great place to start man
Probably as good as it gets tbh
USA invented cowboy music
I met a little girl in Saskatoon
She was beaming, bold and beautiful
And higher than the moon
Before I could profess she left too soon
The words she spoke were enough to make me blue
She said, I know just what you're wishing
Two folks in our condition
We'll never leave this bar room with our pride
So go about your earthly mission
Don't trust no politicians
You look to yours and I will look to mine
I met a Nashville honkytonkin' queen
And the caress of her amber lips
Was reserved for Jim Beam
Took her by the arm, she made a scene
Whiskey was yet to dull her tongue it seemed
She said, I know just what you're wishing
Two folks in our condition
We'll never leave this bar room with our pride
So go about your earthly mission
Don't trust no politicians
You look to yours and I will look to mine
Out west, by God, Virginia's where I'm bound
She's as wild, she's as wonderful
As any girl I've found
So keep me just as long as I'm around
I never have to hear that awful sound
Well I know just what you're wishing
Two folks in our condition
We never leave this bar room with our pride
So go about your earthly mission
Don't trust no politicians
You look to yours and I will look to mine
You look to yours and I will look to mine
Randomly watching suggested videos...
Was not expecting THAT voice to come out of that kid!
(pleasant surprise)
"don't trust no politician..." It's funny, 'cause Colter's dad is Brad wall, a member of the Saskatchewan Party and the Premier of Saskatchewan! haha pretty tongue-in-cheek, I'd say
Yes. His father is Brad Wall.. He was Premier, until he retired a couple of months ago.
Who ever said he trusts his own dad?
You don’t know his opinion.. that’s quite the accusation, bud.
Did not know so thank you from a Ontario boy.
he said dont trust no politician not don't trust your dad
I reckon the ghost of johnny cash is in this lad.
Bow bot more so Townes Van Zandt. But yeah, kids Good.
And the troubled soul of both ;)
Bow Bot damn right
Bow Bot Im thinking Woody Guthrie
would be better with Jake Smith from White Buffalo
A simple message to Mr. Colter Wall: Thank you, sir! I remember an old beer commercial where the leader of the Del Fuegos said, “our music is folk music, ‘cause its for folks”. Your music is grown-ass folk music for grown-ass folks! It will stand the test of time and fits seamlessly with that of all the legendary cowboy poets, singer songwriters, and story telling troubadours of generations past and present. I am well into my sixties and have had my very soul stirred by the likes of Ian Tyson, Chris LeDoux, Bobby Dylan, Woodie Guthrie, Kris Kristofferson, Chuck Pyle, Gary P Nunn, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Goodman, Gram Parsons, Neil Young, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Robert Earl Keen, Jr., Kieth Sykes, Rodney Crowell, David Allan Coe, John Prine, Willis Allan Ramsay, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock, Jerry Jeff Walker, Chris Wall, David Halley, Patrick Alger, Fred Koller, Shel Silverstein, Leonard Cohen, Steve Earle, Billy Joe Shaver, Harlan Howard, Judy Collins, Hoyt Axton, Nanci Griffith, Parker Milsap, Chris Stapleton, Michael Smith, Jamey Johnson, Jason Isbill, Dwight Yoakam, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, just to name a few. You offer the greatest of contribution to an everlasting art! Keep er steady.
You named more than a few lol
❤️
But FORGOT Guy Clark?
Go listen to "Guitar" by Guy Clark as your punishment 😉
@@cosmicjack2721 that was an oversight on my part that is inexcusable! I accept my punishment wholeheartedly!! I can only blame it on senility. Hell, Guy Clark is The Godfather of em all!
@@chuckhaas4412 Amen, Brother!
Everyone is on and on about his voice, which is obviously insanely good. But I think it's easy to overlook the brilliance of his song writing, just top notch, especially for such a young man. Keep it up CW, love it.
I don't think it's easy to overlook his writing ability. What blew my mind, was how young he was he did these songs - barely into his 20's. and if I'm not mistaken, he wrote Kate McCannon when he was seventeen or so. His guitar playing style is also worthy of mention. Makes me proud to be a Canadian when I hear the likes of CW.
Lyric content is simple yet amazing. His voice just make it like grampa sitting you down for some “ real talk” I’m a hip hop head but my head bang against the wall when no one knows Colter!
I consistently find my ears asking for more from Colter's guitar solo's. He's so good, I feel like they could be 2x as long without taking away from his songs.
That sounds like a thought a musician would have. Technically all of it is a solo 😉.
Yes! 13 silver dollars I think should have another verse.
I'm sure women appreciate him now ;)
Haha I don't think this kind of music gets that many groupies.
@@strangewayfaringstranger nah this guy could probably sway a lot of women.
@@harmondushane7290 Oh yeah I don't doubt it, but he doesn't seem like that type of person.
@@strangewayfaringstranger I mean to me he seems like it. But I see what your saying. With that voice alone he'd make women fall head over heals just by saying hello
@@harmondushane7290 Yeah haha I envy it. He seems like a down to earth guy too from the interviews I watched. Probably would help too haha,
I'm really stunned by this young guy. Heard Imaginary Appalachia and obsessively played it for weeks. Excellent playing, fantastic voice. Can't wait for the release on May 6. The real deal.
Weeks? Lol still obsessed with it.
When I first heard "Thinking on a Woman" on the radio I thought it was being sung by an old man. Imagine my surprise when I went to see Colter Wall in Gruene Hall. What a voice, in the mold of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Blaze Foley. Can't wait to see him at John T. Flores Country Store on Saturday night!
Colter Wall, Thank you for inspiring me to get a guitar and learn how to play during this pandemic. Your music hits my soul like a truck
Good choice Greg...stick with it even when you get discouraged. If you dont give upon it, your guitar will get you through the bad days and it'll never let you down.
It inspired me to pick mine up as well. Been a few years. I hope it does the same for a lot of people. Maybe he’s the spark we need to bring more life to the genre. There needs to be more artists like Colter.
Colter's physical being is from the late 20th century, but his soul & his voice have roamed the great plains and ranges of North America for at least 100 years more. I can't get enough of him.
Colter's music is more addictive than Cocaine my friend! Damn this is good!
Songs like these make me actually listen to it and after a line I'll chuckle or gasp because it's an actual story. We need more songs like this, that are actually poems
definitely needs to put out way more music
New album is coming. May 12
William Konkle already pre ordered it lol
Good music takes time.
Right up my alley
I absolutely love everything Colter does. He is such one of a kind and so great and easy to listen to......
Sounds like a song that would've been written and sang by a 1949 Hiram Hank Williams. Beautiful and excellent storyteller
Even the wording of the song sounds like something from back then. "Go about your earthly mission" and "you look to yours, and I will look to mine" are classist put-downs. An old way of saying stay in your lane, you're out of your league, keep with your kind of people. Perfect songwriting.
@@RockinCowgirl1000 Perfectly said my friend.
My god he's gorgeous and talented, I'm hooked!!!
Colter is fucking incredible. When I first heard his voice, I thought I was listening to an old timer. I was floored to learn he’s a young man. Love all his music.
Out West by God Virginia's where I'm bound
She's as wild, she's as wonderful
As any girl I've found. Hits home.
It has been a long, long, LONG time since I listened to a musician and wished I was them. That is what I think of this young man. Good stuff, indeed.
So... that alligator and ostrich leather guitar stool is incredible.
this song always makes me laugh, there is always that one guy in the bar like this
I want to hear him on XM Outlaw country definitely a killer voice and songs that have true meanings
They play Colter on Outlaw every once in a while.
Too bad he had to go to the u.s. to get recognized
The line "dont trust no politician" is kinda ironic, thinking of the fact that his father was the former premierminister of the province he was born and raised in.
well, that should possibly tell you something then..
1:04. That is the greatest voice crack I’ve ever heard in my life. It makes him sound like he’s literally a cowboy.
He is very much a cowboy has a beautiful ranch and alot of cattle
This dude is the real deal! Canada should be proud! Way to go! So much talent comes from there! Must be the cold air!
This Canadian is super honoured to have him as a provincial neighbour/musician. Long live Colter Wall :) And yes, we do have a lot of musical talent up here, and it could very well be the 'chilly' winters! Especially for those who live way the hell north, or in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Alberta too, but our winters are somewhat kinder :) There ya' have it! Btw. thanks for recognizing the level of talent up here.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot and at this point I’m convinced that this man is the angel of folk music.
Thank you Canada.
This beats modern day country by a long shot, sing it Colter!
Colter you are the next Willie Nelson!!!! Your voice! Your guitar!!!! You are a legend in the making!!!!!!!! Keep it up my friend!!!!!
That one guys laugh at the beginning makes me laugh every time I listen to this song!!
“Don’t trust no politicians”
- Colter Wall
No wiser words need be said.
Kk
The end of that video always throws off the vibe of this song.
Hank jr would be proud. What a great country tune, just heard of this guy today. Awesome.
I should write about how much I like Colter, which I do, but that laugh at the beginning of the video got me! It's so sincere that it cracked me up!
That old blue Dodge pickup would humble anyone!
I listen to this man sing at minimum five songs per day. What a Canadian gift!!!! Bring a show to Ontario please...
GOD BLESS COUNTRY MUSIC 🙌🏽🙌🏼🙌🏾
Carolina R. My father used to say I’d eventually come to love country music... but I dismissed that statement like so much of what he said during his short and troubled life. But the older I get, the more I get it. Colter Wall, Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, John Moreland.... they write real songs and play the music that calms my restless soul. Dad got that one right. Though we didn’t see eye to eye about much, I kinda wish he could’ve heard some of the current crop of country musicians. I don’t mean the blather they play on country radio - the country pop crap, but the descendants of Williams, Cash, Haggard, Lynn, etc. I’m sure he would’ve found a lot to identify with.
Townes Van Zandt vibes from this one❤ love it
Well I'll be damned.. Brand Wall's son..well, my old man was pretty different from me too. This young fellow can sing real country music, so more power to him. I'll be damned.
I can't "like" this enough.
What an amazing voice!
100% sure this guy drank black coffee as a tiny baby ... and was born with the ability to play any stringed instrument in that style. #coolbaby
Como canta lindo com a alma, vozeirão maravilhoso👏👏👏👏💖
Brasil caralhoooo
Greatest old style musician and performer. Awesome to listen to the stories told!
Really looking forward to a show in Europe ... love his music
This man is saving country music
What has happened in this guys life to make his voice sound so profoundly wise sounding at such a young age? You can tell his life hasn't been an easy one. Simply an amazing artist
Best version of this song by far!!!
Monster Voice , Humble and Subtle all while Crushing it !
This kid is as legit as it gets. @colterwall you give me hope for the future. Keep your music pure Brother...legendary. I hope the masses will recognize your God given talents and welcome back your genre!
I'd love to sit down and drink a cold Coors Banquet with Colter 🗣
so glad someone showed him to me.
Wow! We need more. Please keep feeding my soul.
Saw Colter in the uk doing a solo gig absolutely outstanding
This is the country music star America needs!
Young man, I just can't tell you enough how much I dig this. Solid!
Absolutely love his music...was hooked after hearing the devil wears a suit and tie 3 years ago
I love listening to a man and a guitar.
It's as raw and exposed as music gets.
But a man with a guitar & kick drum?
Almost dreamlike. Fantastic, and we're lucky to have heard it
Real music and real people long live the 50s ta heck with this computer stuff could still hear it if we all listen to a radio and the grand ole opry the real deal!!!
Dang! I just missed Colter's show in Chapel Hill NC tonight... Darn! Hope he comes back again soon...
Still amazes me . He needs to travel west would love to see him in concert . Absolute double shots CROWN on the rocks and COLTER WALL playing
Love this guy so much... He has it all.
I could listen to you forever. Beautiful performance, as always.
Out here rigging in Kindersley Saskatchewan. So I hear yea brother love your tunes much love from rig 8 performance
That Martin sounds like it's own tuning. Gorgeous.

SOOOO much love for Colter Wall. I am so glad to have discovered him. Amazing voice and lyricism.
What an artist.
Love the deep Ballard's
Keep plucking brother
My youngest son told me about him . . . Last night . . . Can't stop listening ! ! !
Get the pleasure of being at one of hos shows saturday in nashville. I cant wait
Found out about him from being an opener for Cody Jinks. Wonderful show and honestly wasn’t expecting such an amazing performance.
Simply said, this man has talent, and loads of it. respect
Colter Wall, what a badass.

Colter Wall is the man. Thank you for your music.
Just fantastic.
jepp hihihi:-))))
He reminds me of Waylon. But also reminds me to pay attention, all is not lost.
GO COLTER 🎼♥️❗👍
Mesmerizing. I could listen to him sing all day.
damn raw talent.... awesome song!!
Dreamy to listen to, strong lyrics and simple pleasure...please stay just as groovy as you are now
Hands down the next beautiful voice of this generation..
I play some guitar myself and colter is my musical idol I can relate to the old fashioned desolation in his music I have to crack a cold one every time I hear him start playing
He sounds like a modern day johnny cash
Keith Robinson uhg! My wife likes cash and I'm not a huge fan. She said he sounds a lot like him. I guess I'm secretly a cash fan apparently, even though we all know Waylon is the king!!
i was taking a shit and i hurd this and i said damn i didnt know jonny cash played this song and he surprised the shot outta me but when he sings the devil wears a suit and tie it makes me feel as if he sold it out for the guitar
Exactly what I said
I showed my grandma one of his songs and that's what she said haha.
@@jlight0037 Can't you like both?
He is too good
He almost sounds like Johnny cash. Maybe Mr. Cash reborn? Keep it up sir you gotta legendary sound and i hope more people come across you so country music can be country music again instead of pop country
never mind lableing this extraordinary talented young man nice being able too understand what a person is singing !how do we get ta come play in our small coummunity
Sweet geez. I love his old soul sound.
Hi. You have a great voice. Best of luck from Islamabad
