Thank you so much for this instructional video. I have an area on one of my Gables that needed repair after watching this video I was able to repair and no problem. It’s good to have people like you who will share their knowledge with others.
just wondering why you are nailing ridge cap through ridgevent with nail gun? longest nail with gunn is 1 3/4. shingle manufacturers require MINIMUM 2 inch you even stated 2 inch in video 🤔🤔. if you want shingle manufacturers warranty you need to use MINIMUM 2 inch here in nj we use 3 inch and NEVER had a problem. if no ridgevent by all means use nailgun
Timbertex caps are designed for ridge vents and gun nailing. That is why they are so expensive. Using 3 inch nails is overkill. We never had any issues. All companies use nail guns with timbertex caps.... But, hammer and nails is needed, when installing cheap seal a ridge caps. Cant do them with nailgun.... Nail gun nails are always the best. They have the wire on them from the spool, keeps the nail in tight... But you also have to use thin ridge vent for gun nailing. There are 3 thicknesses of ridge vent. Maybe is see you one day in NJ Wayne, Beers on me.
Only needed if it's a different color. Example, brown shingles, they would have a black seam edges, about 1/3 of the shingle would be a different color.......... Only needed if it's a different color in the 1/3 of shingle,...... I am using black shingles, so might be a bit confusing.

Its very important to use good quality ridge vent caps. I have at least 50 calls each year for blown off ridge caps.
What brand/type of sealant do you use for the nail heads?
