  • The Granite Beanie Crochet Pattern is a beautifully textured beanie that is easy to work and features a beautiful, warm, solid texture. The crochet hat is worked from the brim up. I have worked a double thick brim for this hat meaning that I work the brim twice as long so that I can fold it up, however the design is easy to customize and you may choose to work a shorter brim. After working the brim you will simply work the body of the hat to the height desired, fasten off leaving a long tail, and then use that tail to sew the top of the hat closed. I love closing crochet beanies using this method, it make them much easier to work!

    I used to HATE slip stitch brims but now that’s allll I do. Watching you in video after video just slide it smoothly through both loops made me realize I was trying to control my stitches too much so my tension was waaay too tight. I’ve crocheted for years but, it’s only been about a year and a half since I adopted your slip stitch “method” and I haven’t looked back. It looks so much more professional that way. So, thanks!! And for anyone struggling with the same thing, watch Sara’s videos back to back to back and then try it without controlling your stitches so much (basically, don’t be a perfectionist), and it will look amazing!

      Same here. I was so jealous that she just pull it through the two loops just like that… after watching too many, I can do it now😍

    You are such a great teacher. I've learned so much since finding your channel. I did learned to crochet when I was about 10 years old and have loved the way it works on one needle/ hook but I really love all the amazing variations of creating stitches which you show really clearly!

    I really like the way the slip stitch band looks! I’ve been doing a single crochet ribbed band in my recent beanie projects but definitely switching to slip stitch. Warmer, too!

    That was so amazing thank you 🌻😍, but I want to make it for my little brother , how many chains should I ?

    • @HandleWaffle
      @HandleWaffle 8 місяців тому

      they have said how much in the video but 13 chains for not folded and 26 for folded, I believe above 16 chains or more for folded will work for a children size but I'm just speaking from experience not the creator for this pattern

    How do I prevent bulk at the top of my hats? for some reason, when I do a hat from the bottom up, the top looks way too bulky (argh!)😡 - any advice would be appreciated. 😊

    I always fast-forward to the end of hat tutorials to see the back seam before I decide if I want to make it or not. Couldn’t see the back at all…how is the seam in this one? It’s a gorgeous hat from the front!

      There is very little seam in this one as the long double crochet of the first set kind of hides it :)

    If you start with 26 stitches and the final product is 22" would I need to start with 32 stitches to have the final product be about 24"??

      It could be that you simply need to shorten the length of the brim - possibly to 16 inches

    Problem is when you started to yarn over around the brim you didn't stop to show where exactly the hook must inserted because it is not easy to discern where you must insert the hook 7:52
