This needs to be taught from the beginning, like how many chains to start with and how to add the brim. I would love to learn how to make the hat from the beginning to the very end. 🫶🏻🧶🫶🏻🧶
Hi Amy, thanks for your comment. I'm really pleased you like the hat! This tutorial is to go with the (written) pattern for the hat, which does give all the details you mentioned. As such, this tutorial doesn't cover all the details of the pattern, but is just a demonstration of the brioche technique. You can get the written pattern for the beanie here if you'd like it: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1572318040/down-the-line-beanie-crochet-pattern or www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/down-the-line-beanie Hope that helps!
@catherinecrochets I don't read #crochetpatterns. It's too hard for me to understand. I'm a visual person. Thank you, I found another detailed video on #UA-cam on how to create this #crochethat made by Mode Bespoke from "BRIOCHE HAT TUNISIAN CROCHE" Again, thank you 🫶🏻🧶🫶🏻🧶
Thank you for this lesson. The technique is similar to overlay mosaic crochet, but different. A new crochet thing to play with!
Hi, Thanks for your comment! Yes, there are a lot of similarities but the small difference gives a lovely new effect! 😊
Very pretty! I’m a beginner and I feel lost. I hope to be able to do this soon! Finishing up bunch of granny squares right now as my very first project is going to be an afghan
granny squares are a lovely place to start :) I'm sure you'll be able to manage something like this soon if you'd like to!
You will get there! Granny Squares are the best place to start. By practicing and watching others. Don’t rush into complicated things right away because it’s easy to get discouraged.
Above all, allow yourself time and be kind to yourself as you learn this fabulous art form!!
Much love!! 💕
@@catherinecrochets thank you for the encouragement ❤️
@@susieannei5641 thank you for the encouragement! It’s been a month since I wrote that comment and I have already made so much progress and been having a lot too! ❤️
I think this would make a beautiful cardigan, do you have a pattern for one
Ooh, yes I think it would too! No, I don't have a pattern for one though I'm afraid.
Fabulous (as always) thanks Catherine 😊
I would like to see a video on closing the hat . If you would show the decreases I would appreciate it. Thank you.
Hi, thanks for your comment. The instructions for how to do the decreases are in the written pattern but I'm afraid I don't have a video tutorial for that part. You can get the written pattern here if you'd like to: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/down-the-line-beanie
Hi Catherine. Thanks for sharing your tutorials with us. As I'm a beginner I would like to ask how we set up the first round with two colors. I'll appreciate your help.
Hello, thanks for your question. The set-up rounds involve a combination of sc and dc stitches through both loops, back loop only, and front loop only. The exact method is set out in my beanie pattern here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/down-the-line-beanie

Thank you, it's so informative
Glad it was helpful!
So this is mosaic crochet in the round
Hi Charlee, It is definitely quite similar but the use of FP stitches gives it a slightly different (more briochy :) ) texture than mosaic stitches, which are usually in the FLO.
I was happy to find your channel. This is such a lovely stitch, and one I have never understood how to accomplish until your clear how-to. Thank you.🧶
You are so welcome! Thanks for your lovely comment 😊 ❤️
Is this stitch stretchy please?😢
Hi, thanks for your question. The amount of stretch will depend on the yarn you use but yes, it is a stretchy stitch, especially with yarns like the merino that I used.
Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing.❤
Aw, thank you! I’m pleased you like it ☺️❤️
Thanks for the tip about making it thinner. I’m in Australia and it’s never cold so no point crocheting things I can’t wear. Unfortunately finer yarns take longer to make 😩😭😂
You're welcome! I hope it helps but I know what you mean about thin yarns, although often I find it's worth the effort 😊
@@catherinecrochets yes i prefer the look of thinner yarns but i find it harder to find patterns. I usually find patterns for category 4 yarn and then double the pattern for finer yarns. Thanks sgain!
Subscribed and liked. Thank you!
thank you! 💙
Thank you! This is a beautiful technique.
thank you! I'm pleased you liked this 😊 I love this technique too 🩷
Mi piace molto questo pattern , mi puoi dire che numero di ferri hai usato? Quanti punti e la taglia del cappello. Grazie
Hi, I made this with a 3mm crochet hook. The beanie is quite stretchy and will fit an older child or adult. Hope that helps!
This is like overlay mosaic crochet ❤ gonna this striping out thank u ❤
yes, it's very similar! I hope you enjoy trying it out🙂 Thanks for your comment!
Please show how to start 😁 i love how it looks ❤
Thank you! I'm pleased you like it. The instructions for the set-up rounds are in the pattern for the Down the Line beanie (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/down-the-line-beanie). This tutorial is to accompany that pattern and shows how to do the brioche part once you've done the initial few set-up rounds. Best wishes!
Ma come lo inizi il brioche a due colori? Un giro col blu è un giro col rosa ? Grazie
Hi, the set-up rounds are all described in the pattern for the Down the Line Beanie, which you can get here if you like: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/down-the-line-beanie This tutorial is just for the main brioche part.
this is a very pretty stitch. thanks 🌝
You’re welcome 😊 I’m pleased you like it 😊
Beautiful stitch 👏🥰
Thank you! 😊
Back side please!
Hi, I don't have a pic/video of the back for this project. But you can see the back of another similar project in this video: ua-cam.com/video/RuXgluckVR4/v-deo.html (go to around 24 minutes).
Genius!
thanks!
Could this be done with a thicker yarn, e.g 6mm, and if so what size hook would you use? (Very new to crochet).
Hi, thanks for your comment. Yes, this technique could definitely work with a thicker yarn like DK or aran/worsted weight. You’d need a larger hook, eg around 4mm for DK or 5mm for aran/worsted. I’d start by trying the hook size recommended on the yarn label and then adjusting it up or down depending on your own tension and desired drape. Hope that helps! X
