Great breakdown...looks like if Niners stay disciplined and tackle on defense they should be fine...that wildcat play by Chiefs was dangerous along with those stack formations...Kinlaw and Hargrave will have to be huge in run game with AA
Thanks for the content all year Jonny. This season has been emotional. Great start then that 3 game slide, then the run until Christmas. If SF can find the magic it had for most of the year, the game is ours. We can't let the emotion of this final contest of the year overwhelm the play calling. Pound the ball and stopping both Kelce and Pacheco is the recipe I think will prevail. Go Niners.
Thanks for your hard work all year Jonny. You've helped me see the game at a new level, and I really hope your next video is a Super Bowl breakdown on how we BEAT the Cheifs. Go Niners!
Before watching, my 5 keys for the defense: 1. Stop them on 1st down. 2. Stop them on 2nd down. 3. Stop them on 4th down. 4. Stop them on 3rd down. 5. Don't give up any points. Honorable mention: Stop the run, Sack the QB, and take the ball away.
Nice breakdown! Lifelong chiefs fan, I'm rooting for KC, of course, but I have concerns for our offense. I think the SF Def has a bunch of talented players. If they play a 5-man D-front on early downs and bump-and-run man against KC, I think, they virtually stop the chiefs offense. (That's my concern as a KC fan). SF has arguably the best LB duo in the NFL - they have good speed, cover the middle well, and fill run gaps well. KC lacks that deep threat - speed guy to put (or keep) SF in a deep shell. Hardman and MVS can threaten the D deep, here and there, but they are not scaring anyone - consistently. If SF loads the box and plays run-first D, I think they effectively contain Pacheco. T. Kelce and R. Rice are the only two KC ball-catchers that can win against man. SF can (and will) double at least one of them on almost every play. If KC (somehow) wins this game, the credit will go to KC's Def which will have to get takeaways. Best of luck to both teams!
"Last game of the year Brett. Can't hold anything back now" You know Mahomes' hand size is the same as Purdy's 9 1/4" Lol crazy how the media has been using Brock's hand size as a reason he cant do what Mahomes can.
In other words fundamentals: gap integrity, rush discipline, etc. My biggest concern is Chase Young, who gave up way too many edges in the run game. Not 100% sure he gets it yet.
I agree with you, but--since run is such a major factor--why not run 5 and 6 man fronts when they have been so ineffective with 4? Doing this, you can still double Kelce if you want or use Warner or Greenlaw for this role and single everything else. With the caveats being native duress and it would be so much easier to stop any run and those short passes by bearing up! This would simplify everything! WHY NOT? I THINK THEY WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS UNNECESSARILY BY NOT DOING SO WHEN THE FOOTBALL MATH SAYS YOU CAN...THANKS!
Unfortunately our defensive scheme will not work against the Chiefs and that's what I'm afraid of, if and the KEYWORD IS "IF" we play disciplined defense and make tackles, bring key pressure our chances are good. But KC gets major favoritism from refs
Are we concerned about this same referee crew missing holding calls on our pass rush? Also, would you clarify how Baltimore stayed ahead of Reid’s bunch formation?
On defence, Make KC one dimensional by stopping the run game and don’t let Kelce beat out in the passing game and don’t get into a shoot out with Mahomes. On offence, Run the ball at least 20+ times and don’t take Deep shots. KC is a finesse team they are bad at open field tackles especially when it’s someone like Deebo and Kittle, Aiyuk should be the last option in the game, he is just stretching the field. He gets the ball only of he is wide open.
I’m much less confident that our D can get those 5 keys than our offense gets theirs. We could really roll on offense from the start but we’ll probably struggle keeping the chiefs out of it. Probably a close game maybe won on the last drive even the last second
To slow the 49ers pass rush, they will use the crack block-toss for sure, quick short passes, and screens. That's what other teams were doing earlier in the year and killing us. They have seen on film that our pass rushers are not disciplined setting the edge. I hope for once our D-Line plays disciplined.
That’s what KC did Vs the ravens in the first half That’s how KC kept driving the ball Young and bosa gotta make sure they get physical with the smaller wide receivers that KC if they get hit
Love the channel but you never cover the losses since ive kept up with the channel (baltimore) (superbowl) would def support your page more if we got insight on a win or loss
Dude, I covered MIN, CLE and CIN. I've explained at least 10x on either social media or pod episodes why I didn't cover BAL because it was Xmas week and I have kids. SB....I also have addresses that.
@@jonnydel “since i started watching” but a superbowl breakdown wouldve been great. If u were the play caller what would u have done in OT after the missed block on c jones 3rd & goal, go for it or live with the 3 points?
Each of these things seems so do-able...but of course handling them all at once against a great opponent won't be so easy. We've seen times where the 49ers did these things, and times where they didn't...now is the time to put it all together for one more game!
Care to elaborate more about how to “stay ahead” on the bunch formations? Do they have to try and guess/predetermine the routes? Kind of just looks like you are at the mercy of Mahomes and his receivers not being on the same page.
Reid is gonna test early to see how it's matched up. For me, I'm charting what he's presented with and the next time he calls it, in sequence and anticipate how he reacts to what is shown and stay ahead. Don't call the next bunch for what you just got beat by, call it for how he's coming again.
I notice you're emphasizing that embarrassing loss to the Raiders. That was when the Chiefs turned it around. They weren't going to let that happen again. Also, it won't be 3rd-round rookie Wanya Morris (#64) at left tackle in the Super Bowl. I think the kid may be the starter next year, but he's not quite there, yet, and Donovan Smith is a good left tackle, when healthy, and he's been healthy. Morris is a talented rookie who slipped to the 3rd round because he wasn't ready in the 3rd start of his life for what the Vegas edge rush had on tap. If he has a good offseason, he's got the tools to start for a few years on that left side, in my humble opinion. He definitely struggled in that Raiders game! He's still learning, but he's country strong and by next season, he should have better technique, more strength, and better conditioning.
Cant believe we are nearly at the super bowl...been a fun season, thanks for the breakdowns all year. 🤙🤙

IF KC does that stupid spinning formation that they did last superbowl against us...
Just a friendly note to change "defese" in your title to "defense." But great breakdown!
I know Chase gets a lot of the blame for that Gibbs TD run, but blame should fall on Gipson and Kinlaw for whiffing.
The key on defense is " don't bite the cheese". ❤ love it.
