This is such a weird mindset. If two people have a competitive game of something at an even level and with an even playing field, there's some satisfaction in the triumph there - you had no advantages or handicaps, and you came out ahead. This situation, where it's so pay to win that money invested almost certainly dictates the winner, is more akin to a rich person laughing at poor people because they're not as rich as they are - *except* that those 'rich people' act like it's the case of an even playing field. I mean, if I got 44-0 in a game where I know I had invested thousands and my opponents had invested practically nothing, my mindset would be "the money did that" - I wouldn't at all think to be proud of a competitive victory.

The problem is, game won't die because whales keep it afloat. And as long as those games are profitable, they will keep popping up until there's nothing else
What I learned today: 1:Diablo Immortal punishes players who play a lot but spend no money. 2:It rewards people who don’t have much time to play but want to spend tons of money and annihilate all enemies.😂
I can understand a catch up system in game to equalize players and have more people in pvp. But kneecapping xp gains on the people in front makes no sense, the bigger the xp gap the better for people just starting out as it can rocket them up.
It's crazy they literally added a mechanic the prevents you from power farming, just so it is LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE to catch up to people who spend. Not even just whales, even someone who drops a couple hundred has an advantage over you, and you literally cannot grind enough to overcome that. Teaming up to kill a whale in PvP reminds me a lot of teaming up to kill a hacker. You are fighting a losing battle and even a single kill feels like a massive success
I was playing a Roblox game set during the Napoleonic Wars. I was on Russia and there was a hacker on France that would run faster than anyone else, Sonic levels of zooming. He didn’t even shoot, he would just run around with an axe and annihilate people. He’d kill you faster than you’d even be able to react. I was the last Russian alive and he was the last French. We were basically swinging at each other, I was trying desperately to dodge. My musket was out of ammo, I just had the bayonet. But then the hacker was running at me, we both made contact. But he died and I was barely alive, another swing and I would be dead. It easily became one of my favourite gaming experiences. Happened years ago yet I can still remember it. Nothing brings more joy than being able to kill a hacker and having chat blow up with people both in shock and excitement.

That is how real life works man, the sooner more people see this, the better and less damaging as a whole that we can get out of this. Rich and powerful people in real life doesn't even bother you, they won't buy out your food, your cloths, maybe they will buy out your homes, if you live close to town. but if you live far away, most would leave your alone. Imagine there is any crisis of any sort that creates essential item shortage for real. Then those 'whales' would go after your food, your cloths, etc... It isn't that high of a price to pay considering I've gotten close to 1,000 hours out of the game, which is about 9x the length of Elden ring, which is a full priced $60 game, so if you factor in the time, the amount of money I've spent on Apex per hour is actually less than the vast majority of full priced games. @@cafelatte1124 You're absolutely right. Once a company like Blizzard reaches the size that it does, they simply abandon their roots in favor of embracing the lowest common denominator in gaming, and catering to the most casual whale gamers that there are. There will never be another 10/10 game like Starcraft 2 to come from Blizzard ever again. It's all going to be gacha mobile dogshit from here on out. I would say they will then realize they wasted their money when it gets to that point but these people are so gone they wont even think like that. They will just start looking for the next game they can drop more money like that on.
The paragon thingy is there to help stabilize the power level (combat rating) in a server. So "hopefully" everyone is on the same playing field. Because in MMO, being early is very advantageous. The latecomer needed that XP boost to catch up to the early birds.
Even then these games would keep getting developed. they dont care about the guys that spend 30-40 bucks on the game. if theres guys spending 10000's of $ they will happily make a game for like 100 people
I would absolutely love it if under the "recommendations" at 6:07 that shows up after someone defeats you, the game just redirects you into the cash shop with a credit card information section pulled straight up on screen.
Its impressive that they put in this much effort to make being a free to play player a pain in the ass in the end game. Imagine if they put this effort into the gameplay and quest designs.
Because it's more profitable to make a game that only appeals to those who you know are going to drop 10 grand simply to be stronger than everyone else. They gain nothing from appealing to the players that have no intention of spending money. The only reason the game is "free to play" is to pull in a bunch of minnows for the whales to feed on that way they have a reason to actually spend money on the game.
I have been searching your comment, hoping just one person would comment this. I was thinking how this mirrors exactly the Central Banking model. The developers are Central Banks, they setup the 'economic game', it's their rules, they print money out of thin air etc. They then divide the free money amongst their 'whales' who become monopoly players and wrecking everyone's else. The delusion of low spenders i.e, the middle class is that they can somehow win against a whale. But they can't realise is that not only is their labour being siphoned but also they are propped up by a ' 'secret investor', the Central Bank. Not only that you're competing against your employer, actual or potential.

With Diablo 3, all you could spend on the game was 60$ on release, after the AH was removed. In that game, every individual player was worth 60$ to Blizzard. Now, they're in a market where someone can spend 70,000 on a character, and be worth over a 1,000 people who just pay normally. Why would you cater to 1,000 people who don't pay when you can cater to each a-holes who spend out the wazoo?
Precisely the core of the problem. They can continue to exist by trading their credibility for short bursts of massive revenue, but will the consumer base ultimately let it last?
Indeed, and even better, if you get that single 70K whale, that's better than 1150 normal players at 60. If you charge for the base game (*cough* Diablo IV *cough*) AND add in oppressive P2W monetization, you can gouge both groups. We are living in the darkest timeline.

Finally we have the answer to how it feels to be the mobs in a t16 bounty run. Not sure why Blizzard felt we needed to have the answer to that question but now we know
Well like up to 60 dollars and you just "bought" the game. So in that sense I would consider it still free to play. But when you go above a normal game price your starting pay to win. Unless of course the things you buy dont affect the gameplay but are cosmetics, emotes or what ever. Have to remember that every f2p are there to make money. So instead of paying before you are guided to support the game and in worst scenario your lead to p2w and constant money spending. Month after month.
It's to discourage people from playing if they aren't willing to spend $1000s in the game, which most people won't, saves them learning it the hard way by playing.
Watching him laughing like a unhinged maniac because he spent more money than others is actually ridiculously alarming. Now I understand who these games are marketed too
He forgot to mention that set items also are capped per Hell level. You can only get certain set items depending on if you are on H1, H2, H3, H4 etc. So therefore, you need to get to Paragon 100+ to get a full green set.
It's kind of sad because the PVP looks like it would be fun if it was actually eqalized, but Blizzard will never do that as long as people are willing to queue for PVP to get destroyed by whales
That is just how P2W games are. They put in the promise you can eventually become strong too, but fail to show how unlikely it is for even the whales to get as strong as they want. 10k, and that isn't even the best they can be. In games like that it just comes down to who spends more to be stronger. Played a couple games like that and it just ruins what could otherwise be a fun game.

Yeah and thats how the word *loser* got invented. Dont misunderstand these people really dont have rewarding lives thus they live in vr world to make up for it. Plus the other side of the coin for a streamer its really for views and having a laugh with the audience even it the joke is distasteful.

I'm not ashamed to say I've probably spent around 300 dollars on Apex Legends over three years in order to get some really cool legendary skins for my characters, plus the wraith heirloom knife, but none of it affects gameplay at all.
