@@PyroCham yeah I just finished watching them and they are something else entirely. I still really like his ER playthroughs perhaps better overall because they feel like a portal fantasy where our boy gets sent to another world but his DS playthrough is most likely the funniest thing he's ever done.
I think my favorite part was when he decided to play with a M+KB but didn't know where the heal button was so he kept switching between his controller and keyboard for that single reason.

@@grantshearer5615 Think he just meant a lot of Elden Ring "playthroughs" just have people basically doing a speedrun route for a bunch of things instead of just exploring and seeing what they find.

But that makes sense. Yeah it feels like Asmon is approaching this with a sense of "I know what I'm doing, now I'm gonna pay more attention to the world."
Yet there are still people complaining about him not doing that, which would be such boring braindead content

love how you get to choose your own playstyle in this game and the progression is really fun to watch aswell
progression in this game is a double edged sword, because A lot of people feel the game is boring because their's no Actual Clear cut way to figure out wtf you're supposed to be doing. so if you don't know any better you will find yourself just roaming around trying to find literally anything and you'll get bored, which a lot of new players find themselves doing, Myself included. iv never actually beaten Elden ring, and its because I just get bored before i'm barely half way through the game, and I don't even know if the "half way though the game" is true because I never actually found out how far into the game I actually am... because in Elden ring you can kill 30 bosses and not progress in the story at all. Its weird because i have over a thousand hours in Each dark souls game, but i only have like 200 in elden ring, not sure why, the game just doesent feel rewarding as it should.
@@Zesmas i loved exploring the world on my first playthrough. Imo it only really becomes bad on subsequent playthroughs, then it really just becomes a running simulator
@@Zesmas You couldn't figure out what you were doing? Did you not decide to follow the signs of grace at all? They literally point in directions to get through the game.
@@heibk-2019 it's all about perspective. To me new playthroughs are always exciting because I get ideas for new builds to run. It's fun to see how they pan out. Sometimes the build doesn't pan out and I have to restart and alter it a bit but I really don't mind. Almost every playthrough I find something new I haven't seen yet.
@@Zesmas progression in this game is amazing. It can just have a steep learning curve for those who don't play souls games. Once you figure it out though it's awesome. Exploration feels rewarding and you always find new hidden away items and gear and enemies to fight. It's almost infinitely replayable for me.

If you really want the OP shield experience, try the Thumbprint Shield and the Ruins Greatsword. You have to put a crap-load of points into endurance, but you can one-hand the sword, or you can two-hand them interchangeably with Shield Crash on the shield. They both scale well with strength, it gives you a ton of flexibility for close and medium range combat, and you get AOE from the sword's ash which, if you line it up right, will hit big enemies multiple times and can take out groups of smaller mobs with ease, even at end game.

I play my second playthrough as Prisoner. With a thrusting sword and a small 100% physical shield (with parry) and some magic enchantment to increase damage. It is pretty good!
my first playthrough was a pure improvisation and level up based on what it was giving the most at the time. I had to rebirth at some point following a strength/faith build and i became (one of) the Elden Lord :)
In my Demon's Souls playthrough i had heavy shield and a spear (with a bow), man it is strong!
why not use spirit ashes?

Bald Don Frye CAC. I swear, with every RPG, if you're going for max damage build, the stats to pay the most attention to are always strength/dexterity, base defense/heavy armor, passive healing and fastest striking speed weapons.
Was so excited to find this, only to find he's using a bloody halberd again. And a shield without a counter attack is just dumb and boring.

@Radagon I really hope somone trades lvl 1 items for this run like fingerprint shield and some armor so asmon starts build early around for the character

I would say it took less skill in chap 3/4, striker burst/mk7/twin mag/red eye were all low skill weapons you can miss half a clip and still kill your opponent, most my friends stopped playing this season because the weapons are less forgiving

someone suggested a Brass Shield to Asmon early game - and by 1:36:30 YA killed more than half-a-dozen enemies w/ Brass Shields - that "dropped goodies" - but they NEVER got looted........., wonder how many of those 6 already dropped a Brass Shield???
Your fan guy should have mention that no-one sells Brass Shields - ya only get one by killing someone wielding one........., especially since ya now have the Strength to actually use one.
added: the Halbert that a Vagabond starts the game with, has a "special" skill (as most weapons in ER do) - it is very sad to hear any player complain about a weapon that - no.1 he is not even familiar w/ or - no.2 doesn't take the time (a minute or 2) to learn it's "special" skill - Charge Forth is a really good skill - that can literally stun-lock Boss enemies........., even sadder when that player is a supposedly experienced gamer. (and yes) one can simply review the info on the Halbert - or any weapon for that matter as it's in the game, simply by viewing the Menu. You "will" have to unequip the Vagabond shield (which has the Parry skill on it - or simply 2-hand the Halbert) - in order to access the "special" Halbert skill - which is why the Brass Shield noted above is considered a real gem, (it comes w/ the No Skill, on it as well as being the best rated Medium Shields in ER).

You can kinda change the head size, Asmon’s DS3 character had a huge head. You just can’t go overboard with it like you can with some Skyrim character creation mods.

He should really try the Elden Ring Randomizer for Items and Enemies (on Nexus Mods).
In a recent playthrough I had the Tree Sentinel replaced by nothing less than a Black Blade Kindred. It's very fun but brings all sorts of difficulty spikes everywhere it's crazy.

Bruh, it's the second playthrough and he still doens't even test skills of the weapons he gets. That +8 halberd has a really fun skill. There's also R2 and charged R2 to abuse enemies posture with big weapons, the block counter... Can't help but think he misses a big part of the fun just being a fucking thickhead.
