I just found your channel, and I'm beyond excited! Been vegan 5 years now and I'm looking to eat more traditional chinese like my mother cooks, but healthy and vegan! More low oil and veg recipes pls
Chrysanthemum greens (tong ho choy) are my FAVORITE greens for hot pot. They just go so well with everything else. Favorite noodles are potato starch noodles. We eat hot pot basically every week in the winter.
A tip: precook the sweet potato noodles then put them in a bowl of cold water to prevent sticking. All you have to do is take a little bit using tongs preferably and dip the noodles in the stock to bring it back to temperature, and you won't have to deal with timing the noodles or trying to fish for it.
This video is super - thank you so much! I am so sad I never got the chance to try hot-pot due to my being vegan and only knowing meat eaters. Maybe one day :) I would really would love to see you do Chinese greens - I love them! :)
Yes for greens week! I'm actually interested in ordering the seeds online for some some of the Asian greens I can't typically find here so I can grow them in my garden.
I made this tonight for dinner! I thought it was going to be easy and clean but I let my pot boil over a few times -__- The soymilk broth was delicious (and actually way better than I was expecting). Thanks for all the good recipes!
Thanks for the video! I’ve been making a lot of soups lately and trying to come up with new ingredients to try. I would love to hear more about Asian greens!!
I am vegetarian and I am from I do try to covert korean , Chinese foods in veg them I was thinking about this you did it amazing and also there's spices which we loves😋
That green one name is : SWAMP CABAGE. In Philippines it’s called “ KANGKONG”. Thank you so much for sharing your video I love it and absolutely will do the same procedure for my HOT POT party on the 27th of this month.
Indeed, those softer versions running like egg shreds in gingko, barley desserts simply melt in the mouth, scoring high both on taste and texture! Amazing how versatile the humble bean curd skins can be. It's still my favourite dessert. :-) Btw, speaking of water spinach (we call it ong choy or kang kong too), will you be doing recipes using the too salty but yummy fermented tofu 腐乳 ?
Awesome tips and pointers in this video!! I will for sure use your recipe the next time I eat hotpot! My family makes regular meat hotpot, but our hotpot also has that cool divider thing. Last time I was super lazy and just used veggie broth, and it was so unsatisfying, haha. Can't wait to try these out :)
@@EastMeetsKitchen if anyone can veganize shrimp paste, it would be you! Winter time is sooo perfect for these soup bases. Can't wait to make some noodle soups soon 😁
Yum ... never tried a creamy base. On the written part, the font was fine but could you make it a little larger. These old eyes had a hard time reading!
My daughter wants hot pot for her 22nd birthday on Sunday. For her gift, I bought her a divided electric hot pot and extra long chopsticks, so now all I have to do is find ingredients. *sigh* Where I live, getting Asian food is challenging. We'll just do the best we can! Unfortunately, due to COVID, I can't invite anybody outside of our immediate family :(
Hey welcome to come back again, there are more vegan restaurants here now and it’s still growing! I personally would love to learn how to make veganized 糯米腸, 胡椒餅 and 糕渣(it’s a special 小吃in Yilan) Boa must be cool to show your audience how to make it if you didn’t make a video of it :D
Hello I have a concerned I though it was vegan? but there is a dried shrimp in the ingredients of satay sauce hotpot. I want to have a clarification😊 Thanks.
Thank you so so much! I never had hot pot because the broth is normally not vegan and I have been dying to try it :)

I definitely have to give the soy milk version a try. I normally go with Sichuan style but sadly not everyone shares my love for all things spicy.
