Her voice: 1980's nothing like that is used yet. That's her. Damn, this song makes me cry. (I don't know if it is common, but if I see my friends killed I'd get the 1,000 yard stare. Making my eyes well up is difficult.) Been there. If you ever get a Kate Bush... BTW, there are only two reasons to stop halfway on a bridge. He had no fishing pole, so he was thinking about jumping.
Parts of her vocals - the 'Don't give up' bits mainly - have definitely been fiddled about with, overlayered or something. There was plenty of that going on long before the 80s. Queen, Pink Floyd, 10cc etc.
I'd say they probably double tracked Her voice to thicken up the sound. I'm not sure if they modified it, She could be singing a duet against herself kind of thing.
You don't know the context of the video. At the time, there was a severe recession in the UK and many people who had been making ends meet until then lost their jobs, suddenly felt worthless and had to leave their hometowns, only to find no work anywhere else. So of course it was nice to have a partner who helped you not to give up and still feel loved and valuable. That's what this video is about. And yes, Kate Bush has such a great voice, that's what she was known for, and Peter Gabriel was also a constant as the former lead singer of Genesis. You should listen to his album “So”, an absolute masterpiece and one of the best albums of the 80s.
"The number of people unemployed across the UK stood above three million between 1983 and 1986. It reached its peak in 1984, when 11.9% of the UK population aged 16 and over were out of work." This record was released as a single in Oct 1986.
This song has been credited with saving lives of many who have contemplated "self deletion". Kate & Peter are good friends BTW. There are some doubling & overlaying effects being used allowing Kate to harmonize with herself and give background vocal support, but her singing voice is legit. Kate is among the top tier vocalists. She has an incredible range. She is able to combine that range with even more incredible vocal & pitch control to convey the emotions she wishes to express for the song. Both artists are well worth exploring musically. Peter Gabriel has had a brilliant & successful music career. Kate Bush, although far less popular among mainstream, is a pioneering artist who has pushed the experimental limits into genius territory. This is actually the very reason she is less popular. She doesn't break conventional rules because she doesn't even follow them. Adding to that artistry is her use of mime dancing along with her vocals and instrumental compositions to issue "a 3 pronged artistic delivery" to her music videos. NOTE: Among "modern" musical artists (from the 1960's to today) I have only used the term "genius" 3 times to describe talented artists. Kate Bush is one of them. My point is - I don't use the term "genius" lightly.
They had collaborated long before this song, kate was on backing vocals on peter’s games without frontiers……peter also introduced kate to the fairlight synth that kate would use extensively on her material.
This song is about losing job, having no money, leaving the town for work in times of existancial economocal crisis all over the country. And friends who care for you anyways. Beautiful singing, excellent composition, top lyrics. About taking care of friends and society. And you decided to not take any care, with your quick content producing in auto mode.
this song wrecks me every time... for decades, tears and tears. "so many men no one needs" and "we're proud of who you are" are the two lines that gut me every time. and as soon as i hear Tony's bass fade in in the beginning, i know what i'm in for and can feel the tears well up right away. GOLD
"Give Me lyrics." You got it: [Peter Gabriel:] In this proud land we grew up strong We were wanted all along I was taught to fight, taught to win I never thought I could fail No fight left or so it seems I am a man whose dreams have all deserted I've changed my face, I've changed my name But no one wants you when you lose [Kate Bush:] Don't give up 'cause you have friends Don't give up, you're not beaten yet Don't give up, I know you can make it good [Peter Gabriel:] Though I saw it all around Never thought that I could be affected Thought that we'd be last to go It is so strange the way things turn Drove the night toward my home The place that I was born, on the lakeside As daylight broke, I saw the earth The trees had burned down to the ground [Kate Bush:] Don't give up, you still have us Don't give up, we don't need much of anything Don't give up, 'cause somewhere there's a place where we belong Rest your head, you worry too much It's gonna be alright When times get rough, you can fall back on us Don't give up, please don't give up [Peter Gabriel:] Got to walk out of here, I can't take any more Gonna stand on that bridge, keep my eyes down below Whatever may come and whatever may go That river's flowing, that river's flowing Moved on to another town Tried hard to settle down For every job, so many men So many men no-one needs [Kate Bush:] Don't give up 'cause you have friends Don't give up, you're not the only one Don't give up, no reason to be ashamed Don't give up, you still have us Don't give up now, we're proud of who you are Don't give up, you know it's never been easy Don't give up 'cause I believe there's a place There's a place where we belong [Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush:] Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up
The Lyrics in this are very deep a soldier suffering PTSD on the verge of giving up on life & his wife/girlfriend trying to convince him he still has lots to live for . Kate Bush has a unique vocal probably one of the best in Europe & putting her together with this former Genesis frontman was genius .
In terms of Kate Bush's voice, I suggest that you listen to her debut single "Wuthering Heights." her vocal was recorded in one take. Also, try her follow-up single, "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" recorded when she was 16 years old.
This was 1986, Kate's voice doesn't sound to have any of the modern studio trickery which is very common currently. There's a bit of reverb to give the voice space, and at a few points her vocal is recorded twice, singing over some lyrics in unison with herself, this is the most basic and very common of studio techniques to fill out the sound of a voice.
- also THIS song from "Secret World Live". A far more soulful and "real version" - especially when you consider that Paula Cole had only been part of the tour for about a week when it was recorded.
@@markchapel6694 Yes Paula's version is awesome. I never knew she had just joined the tour. Even more impressive! I wonder what Bis would think of "Kiss That Frog!" lol.
This song introduced me to Kate Bush, what a phenomenal talent, and voice. Other great Kate Bush to react to are This Woman's Work, and Wuthering Heights. Again love your reactions.
I think you would like to listen the live version from the concert "Secret World Live", with Paula Cole in place of Kate Bush. It gives me goosebumps every time I play the cd...
(you can look up the lyrics) Kate Bush's voice is like this.....there may be a slight effect and a bit of reverb, but she sings like an angel. Peter Gabriel's voice is amazing even in his early years with Genesis. Her character is supporting her friend as he thinks of suicide, she brings him back from the brink. The eclipse mirrors the emotions they are going through. The song was inspired by seeing black and white photos of the Dust Bowl in the American West during the Great Depression. Apparently many have expressed thanks, avoiding suicide themselves due to this song.
Love Peter Gabriel! He had been the original lead singer of Genesis, and Phil Collins was the drummer who took over as lead singer when he left, although, if I'm being honest, I'm not really familiar with any of the Peter Gabriel Genesis. You have to check out "In Your Eyes". There's a great live version, the Secret World version, that people react to. Then there's "Solsbury Hill" and "Sledgehammer". For "Sledgehammer", you should do the official music video. It's a classic video that's super 80s! I think Harry Styles recently did a good cover of "Sledgehammer". Maybe you've heard that. Oh! While I'm at it, you should also check out the movie "Say Anything"! I don't want to spoil anything, but the song "In Your Eyes" is used in a scene in that movie that's become pretty iconic, and is sometimes referenced. Plus, it's just a good flick. A classic Cameron Crowe film starring my man John Cusak. I don't think you've done either of them yet.
I think this is beautiful. No one sings like Kate Bush, no one. Peter Gabriel is pretty good too. It's a song about supporting each other through hard times. It is not a romantic song. Cheers 🍺
2 of my favorite artists of all time peter's voice is just so powerfull in this song... the song is about the shame a man feels when he is unable to provide for his family and his wife saying to him dont give up..
The live versions from Back to Front and also Secret World are well worth checking out. Also In Your Eyes from either of these concerts is a must. And Blood of Eden from Secret World.
This song always makes me tear up, reminds me of tough times and how i felt .. Peter's whole "SO" album is great. Imagine Peter wanted Dolly Parton to sing this with him at first..would have been a crime to not have had Kate. I think it is a brilliant video and fits the mood of the song perfectly.
Man, I really needed to hear this today. I've been laid off for the past six months, and hope and good humor are running in short supply. Just the idea of an imagined support system fuels me to push just a little more. Thanks for this.
Hang in there! Lean on friends, or on local support services like crisis hotlines. Lot of really really good people around you who sincerely want to help.
Magnificent choice Miss Bisscute i love this song💓💓💓 Kate and Peter are great together. Please please please 🙏🙏🙏 you must react to Peter Gabriel live performances in The Secret World live tour, songs: Shaking the tree (Womans day) and In Your Eyes, you will love it.
Peter Gabriel's live performance of "In Your Eyes" from the Secret World tour is amazing, you'll love it! So many interesting instruments and talented musicians. Haha, your rant about lyrics is hilarious! And I agree! Hell, I'm a native English speaker and there are some songs I have to look up the lyrics. Just bring them up on a second monitor. :p
No, No, No.... that is Kate's voice. So so good! You don't hear voices like this today... it's all auto tuned and cr*p. This was when voices were really voices! Who ripped your heart out and stomped on it... jeez! LOL. Listen to the story, it's very emotional and the video was perfect. The ecplise of the sun, going into darkness when he's feeling hopeless, and when she sings that its going to be alright, and there is a brightness in the piano, the sun starts to reveal itself again. It's perfect. It was a hard time for a lot of people when this song was made.
It sounds like there's double tracking, or chorusing on Kates's voice as well as compression and reverb etc....in other words there is plenty of studio processing on the voices here....Peter Gabriel actually owns a very famous recording studio in the UK, so the answer to your question about Kates voice is "yes" there is something going on with her voice on the recording, but then this is true of nearly all studio-recorded vocals (and instruments), although, Kates voice is very unique and still sounds great without any processing, good spot though Bisscute, it shows you are listening!
There might be some effects or dubbing on her voice but it doesn't take away anything from her amazing sound and vocal range. There are few live recordings of her from back in the 80s and maybe early 90s but you can probably find some. The lyrics are very melancholy and bittersweet but they're worth a read if you want to look them up. It's a song of hope after all.
When they record in the studio, they will often, at certain moments, the chorus for example, do extra takes of kates voice and double or triple her. Often they will layer harmonies with her lead vocals. I think that's what you're hearing when she says the title of the song and in other moments to punctuate the song.
kate bush sings like this i think that maybe nobody more have her voice , have a interesting carrier and she is singing an acting and dance . for me are perfect combination with peter gabriel in the song
Loving the comments of Pitch Correction and Autotune. 🤣🤣🤣 This was October 1986, Even the aincient pitch correction software Celemony Melodyne hadnt been invented, Autotune came out in 1996....Hell!!...we were still using Commodor 64 computers which weren't even powerful enough to play the track in the first place. Peter and Kate's voices, aside from a little studio reverb are as you hear them.....incredible. Artists in those days were 'That Good', modern artists like Taylor Swift and the like wouldn't even have had the talent to chart, going up against the vocal giants then.
I feel like there is a little reverb or post production polish on Kate's vocals, but no auto tune . I like the subtle effect of the passing eclipse.throughout the the story. A beautiful song of support and love.
Du musst die Geschichte, die der Song erzählt, richtig an dich ranlassen. Er, der verzeifelte Mann und sie, die liebevolle Frau, die ihm versucht Kraft zu geben... So viel Emotion vereint in zwei tollen Stimmen! ❤
It's her natural voice but she's double tracked it in places. Kate Bush is a national treasure in the UK. Check out wuthering heights by Kate bush. She wrote it when she was 18 and it's based on the novel by Emily Bronte. So many teenage boys had her poster on their walls in the 80s.
When Kate sings "Don't Give Up", it's doubled - just that phrase. And there's a rather lovely reverb going on. The doubling sounds a bit like a slap echo - and it could be. That fits well with the reverb. Or it could be hard-panned detune.
Kate bush’s Only time song is a beautiful romantic song, and has a lot of master pieces and Peter Gabriel has the perfect live tour in 1993 “secret world” with Paula Cole and a great great band.
Listen to Kate Bush records from the 70's before digital effects existed. Her voice has always been airy. On the "Don't give Up" line her voice is doubled with a second part that is in harmony. Basically she harmonizes with you self on an additional track.
There's some reverb on Kate's voice to give it that slight 'echo' sound to simulate recording in a large space or add some ambience. Reverb is one of the most commonly used effects for voice and instruments and is a stylistic choice, not for masking anything. She is a stellar vocalist, songwriter and musician.
Miss Bisscute, the Peter Gabriel music videos from the 80's and early 90's are considered the most innovative and cool of the time. You should react to the official videos of the songs: Sledgehammer, Shock The Monkey, Big Time, Blood of Eden , Steam and Diggin in the Dirt i think you will like them. And please react to his live performances in the Secret world live tour songs: Shaking The tree and In your eyes.🙏
Turn on captions if you want to understand what they are saying. Also what you are hearing in Kates voice are not vocal processing but overdubs and harmonies and incredible voice and breath control.
In this proud land we grew up strong We were wanted all along I was taught to fight, taught to win I never thought I could fail No fight left or so it seems I am a man whose dreams have all deserted I've changed my face, I've changed my name But no one wants you when you lose Don't give up 'Cause you have friends Don't give up You're not beaten yet Don't give up I know you can make it good Though I saw it all around Never thought I could be affected Thought that we'd be last to go It is so strange the way things turn Drove the night toward my home The place that I was born, on the lakeside As daylight broke, I saw the earth The trees had burned down to the ground Don't give up You still have us Don't give up We don't need much of anything Don't give up 'Cause somewhere there's a place Where we belong Rest your head You worry too much It's going to be alright When times get rough You can fall back on us Don't give up Please don't give up Got to walk out of here I can't take anymore Gonna stand on that bridge Keep my eyes down below Whatever may come And whatever may go That river's flowing That river's flowing Moved on to another town Tried hard to settle down For every job, so many men So many men no-one needs Don't give up 'Cause you have friends Don't give up You're not the only one Don't give up No reason to be ashamed Don't give up You still have us Don't give up now We're proud of who you are Don't give up You know it's never been easy Don't give up 'Cause I believe there's a place There's a place where we belong
The book of love by Peter Gabriel I think is one of the best written songs. And I say that as a metalhead. Its simple. But its just put together just the right way for the lyrics and melody to be a perfect match.
Don't blame you, Biss, what you want is subtitles or captions I think. By the thumbnail I thought it was gonna be a different tune. Music exploration is a journey 👍
Hello Bisscute, with this video I am transported to a time of youthful restlessness, of a university student, of social struggles, of ideals, of rebellion, of nonconformity, which is partly what I interpret this beautiful song by Peter wants to convey to us. Gabriel and how everything is left behind over time. What also made me reflect is that you don't need great paraphernalia, large orchestras and choirs, countless instruments, to make a beautiful song that moves us, you just need sensitivity and talent like Peter Gabriel has enough to create this beauty. For a next reaction I suggest Emmanuel Noir and the band Ke Personajes, performing neither more nor less Bohemian Rhapsody. Greetings and a hug from Mexico City.
Ahh memories... you had to be there... context is everything... you are too young Biss 😁 Peter was the lead singer of Genesis in the early 70's before he left to have a very impressive solo career...
Not the best song of either, I wouldn't even say it's that representative of their classic work. However this was popular in the US so it gets requested a lot. Not sure if you've heard these but they are good entry points.. Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill
Everybody has 'something' on their voice when they record. Compression, EQ, etc. Kate Bush's voice is relatively treatment free I'd say, and certainly no autotune at that time. I think the voices sound unique to you because most modern music is so heavily treated nowadays? So it's probably the opposite, and why her voice sounds 'different'? Same with peter Gabriel, They're technically two of the best singers around.
I suggest listening to Lacrimosa song Fassade (1. Satz or 2. Satz or 3. Satz: better all three; maybe to start with 3. Satz) for reaction. German-Finnish band and you will like it, I quess.
Paula Cole was the original female singer on the earliest live concert version of Don’t Give Up in the 80s. That performance by Gabriel and the band was phenomenal and featured Cole’s pure vocals, as opposed to the wavering you hear on this recording. The original was supremely more emotional from the duet.
Peter Gabriel ist auch einer der Künstler, die live können... schau Dir unbedingt einmal die Live-Version an, z.B. "Peter Gabriel with Paula Cole HD Don t Give Up from Secr" das ganze Konzert - "Secret World Live" ist eigentlich Pflichtprogramm ^^
D'une indescriptible beauté. Et, c'est vrai, même si nous sommes parfois submergés par le doute et le désespoir, nous ne sommes pas seuls et Après les ténèbres la lumière renait.
That's Tony Levin on bass. This song is about emotion, support. Not every hug, look or what not is about sex. That seems to be missing from the millenials. If you want to see boys or girls goofing around, go search for Duran Duran songs of the same era.
It's not a romantic hug, it's about supporting a loved one who's reaching the end of his rope.
Her voice: 1980's nothing like that is used yet. That's her. Damn, this song makes me cry. (I don't know if it is common, but if I see my friends killed I'd get the 1,000 yard stare. They are enhancing both of their voices, but they both sing amazing,Both Peter Gabriel and Kate bush have extraordinary talent!
They're doubling and putting an airy effect on it.
Not enhanced at all listen to any of their live vocals
There are backing vocals added to Kates part (which is all Kate) However I have been to see Kate live in concert and she is an outstanding singer.
I'm jealous you got to see Kate live. She has one of my favorite voices of all time.
"Give Me lyrics."
You got it:
[Peter Gabriel:]
In this proud land we grew up strong
We were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail
No fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I've changed my face, I've changed my name
But no one wants you when you lose
[Kate Bush:]
Don't give up 'cause you have friends
Don't give up, you're not beaten yet
Don't give up, I know you can make it good
[Peter Gabriel:]
Though I saw it all around
Never thought that I could be affected
Thought that we'd be last to go
It is so strange the way things turn
Drove the night toward my home
The place that I was born, on the lakeside
As daylight broke, I saw the earth
The trees had burned down to the ground
[Kate Bush:]
Don't give up, you still have us
Don't give up, we don't need much of anything
Don't give up, 'cause somewhere there's a place where we belong
Rest your head, you worry too much
It's gonna be alright
When times get rough, you can fall back on us
Don't give up, please don't give up
[Peter Gabriel:]
Got to walk out of here, I can't take any more
Gonna stand on that bridge, keep my eyes down below
Whatever may come and whatever may go
That river's flowing, that river's flowing
Moved on to another town
Tried hard to settle down
For every job, so many men
So many men no-one needs
[Kate Bush:]
Don't give up 'cause you have friends
Don't give up, you're not the only one
Don't give up, no reason to be ashamed
Don't give up, you still have us
Don't give up now, we're proud of who you are
Don't give up, you know it's never been easy
Don't give up 'cause I believe there's a place
There's a place where we belong
[Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush:]
Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up
Don't give up, don't give up, don't give up
The Lyrics in this are very deep a soldier suffering PTSD on the verge of giving up on life & his wife/girlfriend trying to convince him he still has lots to live for . Kate Bush has a unique vocal probably one of the best in Europe & putting her together with this former Genesis frontman was genius .
It is not about a soldier, but about an unemployed person at the time of the difficult situation under the then British Prime Minister Thatcher.
@@ThomasPalmen But the point still stands.
It doesn't matter to someone suffering on the edge.
Inspiration to fight on, is inspiration to fight on.
In terms of Kate Bush's voice, I suggest that you listen to her debut single "Wuthering Heights." her vocal was recorded in one take. Also, try her follow-up single, "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" recorded when she was 16 years old.
Kates vocal are all her own, she doesn't need auto-tune.Totally unique & can hit any note on the scale
not what she was sayin though, kate in the chorus has some added reverb or echo added to it
This was 1986, Kate's voice doesn't sound to have any of the modern studio trickery which is very common currently. Correct. No trickery. She double tracks some of it and there is some Reverb.
"Then I am having lyrics for a song that says 'I love corn!'" Genuinely laughed out loud at that. 😂😂

This is a life saver of a song
This is pure Kate Bush natural voice all the way. Awesome beyond words. It is actually complimentry that you think it is synthethic.
Such a beautiful and heart-warming / heart-breaking song by two absolute Legends.
Some reverb and echo is provided to almost every singer. Kate Bush has an amazing voice at this time.
Her voice is really like that. Very other worldly very ethereal. She's in her own league and always will be.

Kate really really really sounds like that although her voice is recorded twice with her singing a higher hsrmony on top in some places.

I believe that life will only let you go so low before lifting you up again. Don't give up...............🤗
Hang in there! Lean on friends, or on local support services like crisis hotlines. Lot of really really good people around you who sincerely want to help.
maybe if you listened instead of reading your messages, you would hear it.
I've heard this song many, many times. in fact, it's one of my all-time favorites. it always seems to surface at certain points in my life, too.
Yes that’s Kate Bush! They are 2 amazing voices! The song is melancholic. But I love to see you getting a bit angry! Love your reaction ❤
I love this song. Love Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel too. Classic.
Gabriel was the original lead vocalist in Genesis.
The sun and moon is an eclipse when things are dark when they should be light.
"I hope her hair smells good" that line is gonna make me smile all day long.
The hug is about support and love here in the video.
Nice bass guitar sound, and yes he does tell a long story and I have never had any idea what he's telling.
Whenever a voice impresses her the cute German shepherd puppy head tilting reaction she has is quite charming.
I feel like there is a little reverb or post production polish on Kate's vocals, but no auto tune . I like the subtle effect of the passing eclipse.throughout the the story. A beautiful song of support and love.
i think Kate added another of her own voice to song at times...twice the beauty
Du musst die Geschichte, die der Song erzählt, richtig an dich ranlassen. Er, der verzeifelte Mann und sie, die liebevolle Frau, die ihm versucht Kraft zu geben... So viel Emotion vereint in zwei tollen Stimmen! ❤
If you have the opportunity to listen to Kate Bush at Hammersmith Odeon you would realize this is her voice.
It`s just magic. Just enjoy it.
Thanks for listening to Peter Gabriel
Turn on captions if you want to understand what they are saying. Also what you are hearing in Kates voice are not vocal processing but overdubs and harmonies and incredible voice and breath control.
As someone who loves corn, I feel very attacked lol! I still love your reactions, Bisscutie! xx
🤣
In this proud land we grew up strong
We were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail
No fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I've changed my face, I've changed my name
But no one wants you when you lose
Don't give up
'Cause you have friends
Don't give up
You're not beaten yet
Don't give up
I know you can make it good
Though I saw it all around
Never thought I could be affected
Thought that we'd be last to go
It is so strange the way things turn
Drove the night toward my home
The place that I was born, on the lakeside
As daylight broke, I saw the earth
The trees had burned down to the ground
Don't give up
You still have us
Don't give up
We don't need much of anything
Don't give up
'Cause somewhere there's a place
Where we belong
Rest your head
You worry too much
It's going to be alright
When times get rough
You can fall back on us
Don't give up
Please don't give up
Got to walk out of here
I can't take anymore
Gonna stand on that bridge
Keep my eyes down below
Whatever may come
And whatever may go
That river's flowing
That river's flowing
Moved on to another town
Tried hard to settle down
For every job, so many men
So many men no-one needs
Don't give up
'Cause you have friends
Don't give up
You're not the only one
Don't give up
No reason to be ashamed
Don't give up
You still have us
Don't give up now
We're proud of who you are
Don't give up
You know it's never been easy
Don't give up
'Cause I believe there's a place
There's a place where we belong
The book of love by Peter Gabriel I think is one of the best written songs.
And I say that as a metalhead.
Its simple. But its just put together just the right way for the lyrics and melody to be a perfect match.
I went to see Peter Gabriel in Dallas, TX last fall.....just incredible...still...even better
From a dark place to the light just don't give up
Yuh, that’s a very long hug😂
No, she sings like that. I mean, reverb? And she may be doubling the voice. But that's her voice.
Lyrics are easy to find. Nothing wrong with stopping the song and looking them up.
Both of them were known for over the top videos. I think the idea of this one was to make people focus on the lyrics instead.
Damn..you tell them Biss 🤣🤣
It's her natural voice
Originally written as a duet with dolly parton ,she turned it down
Yes, there is reverb added to her vocals, but Kate Bush also had a unique voice like Stevie Nicks.
Kate Bush had some huge hits. Listen to Wuthering heights.
Good song, and I've always loved Peter Gabriel's vocals! If you've never listened you should react to his Salisbury Hill. Thank you for the reaction!
Beautiful song, nice reaction
Her voice has an effect on it called “reverb”. Makes it sound like she’s in a hall.
Definitely her own voice .. Wait till you hear Wuthering Heights ..Try Running up the hill . 😀
Don't blame you, Biss, what you want is subtitles or captions I think. By the thumbnail I thought it was gonna be a different tune. Music exploration is a journey 👍
During this time i was married with 3 young kids. Travelled the length and breadth of Scotland looking for work. I know how he felt!
He was an original member of Genesis and his solo career was pretty good Big Time and Shock the Monkey and the video for Sledgehammer was cool
Ahh memories... you had to be there... context is everything... you are too young Biss 😁 Peter was the lead singer of Genesis in the early 70's before he left to have a very impressive solo career...
It's Kate's vocals but it's clearly been doubled as is very common. Some reverb there too.
The whole album is great
Bass performed by the legendary Tony Levin. I believe the instrument is actually a Chapman Stick.
Not the best song of either, I wouldn't even say it's that representative of their classic work. However this was popular in the US so it gets requested a lot.
Not sure if you've heard these but they are good entry points..
Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights
Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill
Hahahahaha, Bissnotsocutetoday.
"Peter Gabriel with Paula Cole HD Don t Give Up from Secr"
das ganze Konzert - "Secret World Live" ist eigentlich Pflichtprogramm ^^
D'une indescriptible beauté. Et, c'est vrai, même si nous sommes parfois submergés par le doute et le désespoir, nous ne sommes pas seuls et Après les ténèbres la lumière renait.
Beautiful
That's Tony Levin on bass.
This song is about emotion, support. Not every hug, look or what not is about sex. That seems to be missing from the millenials.
If you want to see boys or girls goofing around, go search for Duran Duran songs of the same era.
