Billy is a punk Elvis. Billy Idol’s name was inspired by a schoolteacher’s description of him as “idle.” On his school report card, the teacher wrote “Billy is Idle.” He took that as his name but changed it to “Idol”. So, that’s how William Michael Albert Broad became Billy Idol!

Billy Idol was part of the 70's punk scene, when he was the lead singer of the group Generation X, best remembered for their hit "Dancing with myself". In 1981, Idol went solo, starting a very successful career alongside guitarist Steve Stevens. His solo style changed towards hard rock with hints of A.O.R.
The guitarist, Steve Stevens made Billy Idol famous. His guitar virtuosity in the mid 80s surprised many neo-punk fans. Stevens sounded like nobody else and made a big impact.
He definitely took a different approach than most guitarist of that day. Steve created more sonic landscapes and driving chord based solos rather than playing scales a hundred miles an hour. As we found out later through his work with Vince Neil and his own solo work Steve was perfectly capable of ripping it up with the best of 'em. With Billy ge chose what best served the song not what made him look good to other guitar players.

Billy Idol was a bad boy for girls watching MTV in the 80s lol He was super popular. Most of his songs are more hard pop/rock but some are slower like this one and Sweet 16. But in general, his thing was hard rock sexy time music- Hot in the city, Rebel Yell, To Be a Lover, Cradle of Love, Don't need a gun, White wedding, Dancing with myself, Speed...etc. He started in a punk band in mid 70s A lot of kids from London in that era that followed Sex Pistols became famous musicians in the 80s and they all knew each other before becoming famous- Billy Idol, Adam Ant, Siouxsie...He still sounds great live, and dude is pushing 70.
This is Billy playing around with soft rock/balads. He was known mostly for his rock and he had a naughty boy image. His naughtiest song/video was'flesh for fantasy'. That'll blow you away
"I spend so much time believing all the lies, to keep the dream alive." I can't understand how people don't react to this line. Song was made in 1983, I was too young back then to understand it but I heard it one day many years later, and I was in that kind of relationship. This song helped me to open my eyes and move on.
This is my favorite Billy song. It shows his range from the Rebel Yell White Wedding style. The name of the song was taken from a horror film from the 60s in which a man kills young ladies and takes their faces to give to his wife because she’s deformed. Billy can still kill it today!
I think you were kind of impressed with Billy there - 'White Wedding' is a must. such great memories, I think I was probably around your age when this came out in the 80s.

First song I heard on MTV the day I graduated high school. Always loved Billy. Everyone will tell you Rebel Yell, White Wedding etc. But I'd be interested to see something newer like Bitter Taste. Believe it or not, the man is still at it decades later.
Billy Idol(Eye-doll) was a force in the 80's! His song "White Wedding" really sent him into the popular music realm, and is my favorite from him. "Rebel Yell" is excellent, too!
Hi Biss, Great reaction. this song was a big hit, but one of his slower songs. As others suggessted Rebel Yell and White Wedding are 2 of his more well known and iconic works. Also give Dancing with Myself a listen too. thanks for the reaction, take care!
some of the best singers come from london, adele, phil collins, dusty springfield, rod stewart, amy whinehouse, george micheal, david bowie, kate bush, eric clapton, billy idol, plus many more
Now you are ready to rock with Billy Idol. His talent is not a fabrication of an office puke but from his attraction to the ERA he was growing up in and adding to its evolution.
A fun fact about Billy Idol. For the movie T-2 he was the choice for the t 10000 but he got into a terrible motorcycle accident and almost lost his leg. Then Robert Patrick got the role instead because Billy couldn’t move his legs. I love this song. She should react to white wedding, rebel yell, sweet sixteen, cradle of love.
Idol is pronounced just like idle. That was my favorite song from him, but he has a few more hits. "Dancing With Myself," "White Wedding," "Rebel Yell," "Hot in the City," "Mony Mony," "Flesh for Fantasy," and a few more, but I'd say these are probably his best remembered hits.
Greetings Ms. Biss! I am very happy you are delving into the Rock God of my Youth! Billy Idol's music crosses a broad spectrum, and he does ROCK HARD when he chooses! I hope your next taste of him is one of my all time favorites "FLESH FOR FANTASY" by Billy with Steve Stevens SHREDDING for all he's worth on that piece! As always, it is a joy to share your reactions! You have quite a few really cool hits and ballads to sample from him... and we're all here for it! ROCK OUT LUV! 🫶😘
A random fact, the guitarist who appears at the moment of the riffs is Steve Stevens, a guitarist who has collaborated with Michael Jackson on "Dirty Diana" and in the main theme of the movie "Top Gun" he is recognized for using a laser gun. toy between the pickups of the guitar, taking the sound of this toy through the amplifier of his guitar, as in the guitar solo of "Rebel Yell" by Billy Idol and the final guitar solo of "Dirty Diana" by MJ
It's "Idol" like "American Idol" =P Billy started his career in a punk band called Generation X, known for songs like Dancin With Myself (which he sorta remaked on his solo career, I highly recommend both of them honestly. The difference is that on Gen X's version it's more punk sound), Ready Steady Go, Your Generation, One Hundred Punks and Youth, Youth, Youth. Recently him and another member of Generation X teamed up with Steve Jones and Paul Cook from the punk band Sex Pistols and performed each of the two bands's songs and called themselves Generation Sex. They did a gig here in Sweden last year (I think), I would have loved seeing them live! Other Billy Idol songs - like I mentioned, Dancin With Myself, White Wedding, Rebel Yell, Sweet Sixteen, Hot In the City, Flesh for Fantasy, Mony, Mony, Cradle of Love, Catch My Fall and I actually do like his cover of The Doors's song L.A. Woman =)

- Dancing with myself
_ White wedding
- Sweet sixteen
- Cradle of love (my favorite music video from Billy Idol)
Thanks will add on the list right now
Eyes without a face was also a title of a popular book and movie once upon a time. Also.... REBEL YELL!!!!
It's quite cute that you picked up that he was going for the bad boy with the lip thing.
First song I heard on MTV the day I graduated high school. Always loved Billy. Everyone will tell you Rebel Yell, White Wedding etc. But I'd be interested to see something newer like Bitter Taste. Believe it or not, the man is still at it decades later.
I remember Billy Idol from Generation X. Ready, Steady, Go!
Billy Idol(Eye-doll) was a force in the 80's! His song "White Wedding" really sent him into the popular music realm, and is my favorite from him. "Rebel Yell" is excellent, too!

Hi Biss,
Great reaction. this song was a big hit, but one of his slower songs. As others suggessted Rebel Yell and White Wedding are 2 of his more well known and iconic works. Also give Dancing with Myself a listen too. thanks for the reaction, take care!
Thanks will add on the list right now
some of the best singers come from london, adele, phil collins, dusty springfield, rod stewart, amy whinehouse, george micheal, david bowie, kate bush, eric clapton, billy idol, plus many more
Now you are ready to rock with Billy Idol. His talent is not a fabrication of an office puke but from his attraction to the ERA he was growing up in and adding to its evolution.
very talented
эххх, сразу юность вспомнилась)), хорошие времена были в 80-х
Thanks. My favorite B Idol song.😊
Blue Highway is one of my favorites of his
"Rebel Yell", "Rock the Cradle of Love", "White Wedding", "Flesh for Fantasy", and "Dancin' with Myself".
Most of the female teenagers and those in their twenties back in the 80's had a huge crush on him, including my sister.
Thank you so much
bissy you nailed this classic from Billy "American" Idol
Thank you so much
Yep! He’s a rocker alright 🤘🏼
YEP
A random fact, the guitarist who appears at the moment of the riffs is Steve Stevens, a guitarist who has collaborated with Michael Jackson on "Dirty Diana" and in the main theme of the movie "Top Gun" he is recognized for using a laser gun. toy between the pickups of the guitar, taking the sound of this toy through the amplifier of his guitar, as in the guitar solo of "Rebel Yell" by Billy Idol and the final guitar solo of "Dirty Diana" by MJ
Rebel Yell is a MUST!
It's "Idol" like "American Idol" =P
Billy started his career in a punk band called Generation X, known for songs like Dancin With Myself (which he sorta remaked on his solo career, I highly recommend both of them honestly.
Woman =)
You would love love love…rebel yell. It rocks it out much more
