Out of 12 times he has tried to DC fastcharge, only 2 times have worked without issue. Several times have been an absolute fail. And he has never seen anywhere higher than about 180 kW.
@@cooltwittertag Yes that is where I thought the Porsche was winning. When I looked into it even with the higher speed the tesla will still go farther given same time to charge because of the efficiency differences.

True. Am I realistically going to be concerned about only being able to go 250 miles in one day? No. And I don't think taking an electric car on a road trip is a wise idea anyway. AND if you can afford a Taycan, you can probably afford a smaller gas car if you need it too.

Have had Porsches in the past and am super happy to see them putting out a real awesome EV. I have also have had 4 Model Ss (60, P85, P100D and now Plaid). I was leaning Taycan until the Plaid with the new interior. Range / Supercharging were really the major concerns for me. Performance, Interior and fit and finish have really wowed me on the Plaid. Great video Marques as usual, thanks for the content.
I have no reason to watch this video but i thoroughly enjoyed it because mkbhd’s quality is just so out of this world. Big props Marques, if anyone deserves their success it’s you.
That’s the truth, either Ferrari or Lamborghini has anything to come with when it comes to quality! Ferrari is actually a shitty car. I know, I have tried🤓
Are you very sure? there's vids of the taycan with laggy screens and panel gaps . Brands always have their issues but y'all just are pointing at tesla as the unique one come on ,dont think that the fact that its a Porsche doesn't have problemse or quality issues, ignorant.
Living in Switzerland, chargers offering the maximum 270kW charging speed for Taycan are never far away (the facelift does 320kW). I just bought a low mileage Cross Turismo version. The driving experience is fabulous.
yeah, but whereas Porsche is looking to bring the price down each time and sell on the parts to make cheaper cars tesla as selling overpriced cars with major production issues.
@@dar7279 why wouldn't you buy one? they have pretty much sold out in my local garage and now are on the backlog, yet I see at least 8 teslas sitting out the front with there massive pannel gaps and shitty customer service. But hey you know my whole life from a youtube comment clearly.
I test drove a taycan turbo last week and I loved it. I prefer the interior and handling characteristics over my Teslas any day. The Porsche is on a different level. The taycan handles tight turns like a champ. No competition versus any Tesla. You can accelerate through the turn. It is unreal and so much fun. The biggest problem I encountered is that for a custom taycan order from my local Porsche dealership, it takes 4-6 months. Another downside is using the Porsche as a daily driver would be terrifying. It's a beautiful car. I could not leave it in a parking lot alone 😂 The Porsche looks better in person. I wasn't into it until I saw it with my own eyes. It's beautiful. Tesla is great as a daily driver. It's cheap and the super chargers are great. My favorite Tesla is the performance model 3. The model S and X are pretty lame after you drive the taycan or a performance model 3.
I got to drive a bright green one of these. I absolutely fell in love with it. Blows away every other electric car ive driven. Tesla is just a rolling iPhone. This is a real car.
@@TheNonViral Here in the US, only people rich enough to own a fancy VW say it the way you do. Just kidding but it is out of reach for most folk$. I drove one many years ago and it was harder to drive than a big truck with granny gear :)
I would grab the Taycan. Love the Tesla tech, but I would eventually resent the lack of comfort. As a tall person, sitting in a car for more than 30 min necessitates comforts no matter how small.
@@caraperegrine6936 no, didnt you watch the video? porsche interior quality is better than tesla, with also adjustable seat lengths good for taller people
The Porsche without even thinking twice ... That interior is just so beyond next level it's amazing. I'd go white though and yeah, something needs to be done about those tires!! *Reality: owns 2009 Honda Accord and will most likely never own a Porsche ... Or a Tesla!!*
I own Tesla Stocks and a company called Aeva which works with the Porsche group, so theoretically I own a small percentage of a lot of Tesla's and a lot of Porsche's
Given the price difference... The "I can do better but charge disproportionately and exorbitantly more" doesn't say "good engineering." Now, "I can do better for the same price" or "I can do better for a lower price" now that's where the sauce is. That's how Japanese car markers succeeded. That's how Korean car makers are doing now.
Thanks for sharing👍 Your reviews are very balanced and the amount of information you give is just right and very entertaining... Of course Porsche won't disappoint in driving experience. You could have shown a bit more performance, ie acceleration, maybe 😉 I have no driver license but I do have a good selection of Porsche model cars from the petrol age 😉
@@JoshTheFrosch07 well, as Tim said, is available since the 90s in most German cars... even a lower spec BMW or Mercedes has it as an option. The seat length can be adjusted.

Mine had issues with the keyboard, screen backlight, display coating, and don't get me started on macOS which every update makes it worse. Big Sur is just awful to use, it might be cool to have a fresh look and rounded corners, but it's shape (even that is arguable) over function. They have killed 32 bit apps on Catalina, and Big Sur is borked. I used to use the calculator widget on the "Control Center" and since they have removed it I've got frustrated opening the Control Center about 200 times. Force of habit I guess.
I drive a Taycan everyday - best car I have ever owned. So stable, so responsive, a truely elegant car. Love it in every way… just wish it had more range, but its workable. Big ❤ to Porsche for building such a magnificent car.
The Tesla has far better range and charging but less performance on a long strip. But I wouldn't say the Porche is better. I would say they are actually on par with each other. The Porche is great for Porche fans or someone who is looking for a proper luxury electric vehicle. Tesla is the state in the art in the software and technology side of things. If Tesla updated their interior/exterior it would make it a better car by a mile simply because of the better battery and motor architecture.
@@EVPaddy no it doesn't. The reason tesla is so efficient is because of some underlying efficiencies in things like the inverter (the main one), motor and battery. Also, years of tinkering and software updates have increased range
@@danm4320 I am interested in both cars for quite some time, so let me sum up some facts about the taycan which are not in the 'stats'. Comparing the turbo S to the quickest Tesla the Taycan has better performance in 1/4mi. It does not overheat before finishing a track due to the 800v architecture requiring half the amps and their smart cooling ideas. It has better steering and better brakes. It has less hp and 0-60 is slightly slower while past that eg the 0-120 is faster. It has less range, but is able to charge way faster (also due to 800v heat efficiency) so it charges from 20-80% in 21 min. I dont really get the supercharger argument: Youll never need it for daily driving as youll start from 100% at home. For long road trips, youll drive on the highway and past many chargers of both networks. + in and out build quality, but it is ~60k more expensive
Great review. To answer your questions: Taycan. Remember Porsche is about performance and driving, not range. The fact that you can do launch mode (the only feature that you left out of your review) over and over again without the car needing to go into "protection mode" is incredible. The Electrify America network is growing rapidly (backed by the largest car company in the world) and the 800v J1772 is becoming the industry standard. The ability to charge from 0-80% in about 20 minutes (versus maybe 35 with Tesla Supercharger) is the most equivalent to pulling up to the gas pump that exists today.
I got the money, but I felt like all electric cars have firm suspension that hurts my butt. I don't want to pay my money to get my butt kicked on every road bump
Fantastic job as always. I like your comparison of both the models. Looking at vehicles like the Taycan or the Audi eTron… I like those because they look like a Porsche or Audi inside. I have a 2018 Model S that love … but it’s just some of the basic car functionality that I wish was better. Something as simple as my driver profile for my seats seem to lose the memory. Those are some of the reasons that I would look elsewhere.. but like you said until these other car companies can guarantee cross county readily available fast charging… I’m sticking to my Tesla. Absolutely amazing video. Thanks

The taycan handles tight turns like a champ. No competition versus any Tesla. You can accelerate through the turn. It is unreal and so much fun.
The biggest problem I encountered is that for a custom taycan order from my local Porsche dealership, it takes 4-6 months.

Always love the Auto focus car animations in the intro.
Agreed.
By the way, how are you man?
On paper the Tesla has better “stats” but the overall better car... Porsche, by a mile. But it’s way more expensive, so not really an upset.
@@danm4320 just put on similar wheels and the Porsche has a better efficiency than a Model S.
@@EVPaddy no it doesn't. The reason tesla is so efficient is because of some underlying efficiencies in things like the inverter (the main one), motor and battery. Also, years of tinkering and software updates have increased range
@@danm4320 yes it does. It's been tested. And even with the normal wheels it's more efficient at high speeds than a Tesla.
11:54 "kinda like a spaceship", Marquez next reviewing NASA rockets "awesome thrust to weight ratio, let's test the sound" 😅
