With this being the second official model year for the Porsche Taycan there is quite a few changes coming to beautiful piece of machinery! A lot of new functions are being released (still unsure which items will be available for MY20 Taycan's). With Model year 2021 comes a lot of new interior and exterior colors as well! Porsche is going to have to up their game in regards to battery performance. Range is going to be inadequate compared to Tesla plaid and Lucid with ranges over 500 miles. Having a 6k battery upgrade that is still far below your competitors just doesn’t cut it even for a Porsche. Being able to travel to some nearby cities without having to find a charging stop is a huge plus for me. Love the Porsche design and style otherwise.
Thanks for the video. Just wanted to make a correction you should mention. FoD options that require special hardware may not be available on all cars. Things like Porsche InnoDrive 3:25 can only be added after the fact if you originally configured Adaptive Cruise Control for instance. I was reading the fine print quite carefully.
BTW I do really enjoy you know drive and think it is worth the $1,000 over the ACC.

Actually it is the performance spec I would love som real World test on. How does it feel regarding to steering feel with or without PTV and rear axle steering. I would like the steering as direct and sharp as possible gonna use it on track.

Thank you Adolfo! Yes the MY20 have OTA and will also have the ability to do FoD but it is still uncertain as to what extent the MY20 will be able to adopt as far as software features that the MY21 cars will have! I will make a video covering this in the future once this has be determined!

Thank you for the video! I'm currently looking for a 2020 Taycan Turbo at a steep discount and am considering perhaps spending a bit more and getting a 2021 instead. However, I've found a 2020 MY one with the thing I may want FoD (that specific Taycan has the innodrive with adaptive cruise) on a 2021. Is the "innodrive with adaptive cruise" the same as "innodrive with adaptive lane keep"? Is it worth getting the 2021 because Porsche may come out with newer FoD things in a few years? I'd hate to not spend just a bit more money to get a car that can be updated with the greatest and latest that Porsche has to offer, rather than save a few thousand dollars. Cheers for the content
Hi Ahsan thank you for the support! Thats awesome you will love it 😀 Great question for the MY 2020 the option of "Porsche Innodrive including Adaptive Cruise Control" is slightly different on the MY 2021 as now this option is now "Porsche Innodrive including Adaptive Cruise Control and Active Lane Keeping" the option is the same price as MY 2020 but have added the active lane keeping part for MY 21. Porsche Innodrive with Adaptive Cruise control will use the radar and video sensors in the car to control the speed of the car while driving taking into account cars in front as well as speed signs, different topography with control of the acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle for 3 kilometers ahead! For MY 2021 Active Lane keeping has been added to this feature where is scans the lines on either side of the road to keep the car in the middle of the lane! Here in the US the active lane keeping cannot be added after the fact currently through FoD only MY 2021 vehicles are eligible (see link below) if you don't mind me asking which country are you in as it may differ? Based on the unknown of which features the MY 20's will be able to receive via FoD I would go with a 2021! Both great cars but currently the 21 is more future proof! Hope this helps! 👍🏼

Great video and I love my 2020 Taycan. Coming from a Tesla I can’t figure out the Porsche logic of the backup camera. I found the Tesla camera way better to use when parking. Do you think there will be any software updates to the camera system?

My understanding that some of the FoD will only work if the correct baseline hardware was optioned. E.g. innodrive without adaptive cruise control would not be accessible. Is this your understanding too?
Hey Rob! Yes this is my understanding, if the car does not have the hardware (ACC in this case) the option will not work through downloading the feature!
EPA range always understimate the range of the Taycan. Why still use it ? WLTP is more accurate. The 4S is WLTP rated at 335 - 408 km for the performance battery and 389 - 464 km for performance battery plus.

Porsche just released a software update for 2020 Taycan models so they will have the same functionality as the 2021 Taycans even with the car play function!

I have a Turbo and wish they did more videos on this model but it appears the Turbo S gets the most coverage and I don’t understand why especially it having such a high price tag! You have driven both could you tell me how they differ?

Thanks Ronnie! Great question... I believe it would be the option of Thermally and Noise insulated glass! Thermally insulated glass has thin metal foil integrated into the glass to reflect UV light in turn charging the color of the glass in certain light 👍🏼

I will do one. 👍🏼 It shows telephone data, voice control, distance bar (if equipped with adaptive cruise control), turning maneuvers when navigation is active, sports chrono, launch control. These items are in the temporary content on the far left. The navigation and speed with power meter are always present! I will make a video on it 👍🏼

Don`t you need any hardware for OTA updates such as InnoDirve. If you bought the car without ACC will the updates still work?
Koka, my apologies for not stating this in the video... yes some of the vehicles will be hardware restricted from adding certain features after the fact exactly like you stated! To be able to add InnoDrive and Active Lane Keeping assist the car will need to already have Adaptive Cruise Control!👍
Do you think the Macan EV will have as many options as the Taycan? I especially would like the rear wheel steering option.
Hey Anthony! Initially I don't believe it will have as many trim levels but will be rolled out I would expect similar to the Taycan! Rear Wheel steering would be awesome on a Macan..unfortunately it is not currently offered in the Macan 😞
How do you program the 2021 Taycan to change height of the chassis as you approach home? I don't see any obvious menu in the settings to program it to do this
Great question! It it is done via the Instrument Cluster "Lift" Button and Center Display! I will make a video this 👍🏼
I would like to be able to control temperature with a dial & control air vent directly. Is Porsche Taycan making those changes???

Great video. Thanks. I am confused. I just configured my Taycan yesterday. My salesman called me back to say new in 2021 is I have to order that charger and the free charger no longer comes with the car. Seems like the opposite of what you said. Can you clarify? Also , how does it auto park?
Thanks Bari appreciate the support! For the model year 2020 the "Mobile Charger Connect" was a forced option because we did not have the "Mobile Charger Plus" available so that may be what he means by "free" it was still added to the price of the car you just could not unselect that option.. The car for 2021 comes standard with the "Mobile Charger Plus" which has a 9.6kW charger capabale just does not have smart charging features so you can see the charging stats from the "Porsche connect" app. The optional "Mobile Charger Connect" comes with a 5 inch LCD display with the ability to work with something called the home energy manager (a box installed at home) so you can have intelligent charging at specific times depending on total home energy output. 👍🏼 Great question about the Active Parking support, I have not had the chance yet to use it first hand but it will use the ultrasonic sensors in the car to park in parallel or perpendicular spots. You will be able to fit a function ket in the PCM (main display) and it will actively park by turning the wheel and maneuvering the park into the spot. This option goes hand in hand with Surround view camera as well! Hope this helps! Once I have had a chance to play with the active parking support I will let you know and do a video! Somewhere next week we will get our 2021 Taycan 4S Cherry Red. We've ordered a lot of options except for the active parking option. Congrats Ronny! That is awesome, would love to see a picture when it arrives! 😀 It is possible it may be able to be added in the future but unfortunately no word yet. Two options the car must have prior and installed at the factory are Park assist with Surround view and Comfort Access. Did you option your new Taycan with these options? Some of these upgrades sound like they could be software only. Do you think us owners of MY2020 are also going to get them? That would be a nice reward for early adopters. As an ex-Model S owner I’m used to getting significant upgrades during the lifetime of the vehicle (and OTA too - one day you wake up and find your car with new features).
Yes most of the updates are coming to the software, I do believe most of the software functions will come to the MY 2020 vehicles! Exactly, very cool how Tesla brings new features to current users, I am sure we will be seeing the same from Porsche very soon!

What’s happening to the new Taycan ..by Porscher..Is the Taycon a new model.
Mason there has been a fair amount of talk on the Taycan Forum about 12V battery issue, Battery dies overnight in several cases. Many people attribute this to the Porsche Connect app. Have you heard of this? And is there a fix in 2021 models?
Yes I have heard of this issue happening! Great question! Unfortunately this issue is still out there and is caused by repeated use of the Porsche Connect App exactly as stated! Porsche has recognized this as an issue as is currently gathering data from each vehicle and case to determine the cause of the issue that is affecting both 2020 and 2021 model years. Hopefully once the issue is determined in the near future there will be a software update to correct this issue! Thank you for pointing this glitch out!

What's the difference in headroom between the glass roof and the steel roof?
Great question Jim! The headroom in the rear is just about 1 inch less with the Aluminum roof compared to the Fixed Panoramic Roof.
Rear Headroom-
Aluminum Roof - 36.7 inches (93.2 cm)
Fixed Pano Roof- 37.6 inches (95.5 cm)

Hey Gordan! Awesome! Great question no Android Auto announced for the Taycan yet but was recently released for the 2022 911. Wouldn't be surprised if it comes to the 2022 Taycan and may be available as update to 21 and 20 models in the future! 👍🏼

Any idea when we in the USA can do a paint to spec. I also love blue Porsches and always wanted a blue car of my own but never custom ordered a car before, either was new on lot or used, this time it’s different. I find the gentian blue only beautiful under bright light as it’s too dark of a color in cloudy weather or just at nighttime, then the Neptune blue is a nice color but I’m not a fan of flat colors, I prefer metallic colors. Have no problem paying Porsche the cost of paint to spec but I know the pandemic delayed that option for Taycans. I want something similar to the mexico blues, cobalt blue, and other more racing and vibrant blues especially in a metallic paint coat.
Not at this moment! I am with you I would love to see PTS come to the Taycan! I agree the Gentian Blue is very dark unless under very bright sunlight! A Mexico Blue Taycan would be unreal, one of my all time favorites! Let me do some research and see there is a timeline for PTS! Great question!
