Great video describing the problems and some practical solutions to some of the biggest frustrations I’ve had in the shop.
Years ago I ended up making my first (and fateful😂) decision which was to buy a cyclone and a Home Depot bucket to separate the chips. Unfortunately the cyclone is a cheap foreign knock off which came with a metric connection 🤦‍♂️.
Just like you, I ended up spending time in the plumbing section of the local hardware store to find a flexible adapter to plug my shop vac hose into the cyclone. I too ended up buying the same Rockler hose and fittings kit but finally have almost all the tools I have to the shop vac. I gave up on a solution for the miter saw so I ended up buying a portable miter stand and putting it right in front of the shop door in an attempt to get at least some of the sawdust out of the shop. Basically I have the the same solution for the planer. It produces too much sawdust for the setup I have and clogs up so I am currently connecting the shop vac hose and it blows the sawdust outside. Fortunately it has a blower on it. I’m thinking about building a separate solution for it.
Anyway, thanks for the video! Ok sure this will help a lot of woodworkers! 👍🏻✅
