That cello-man did a great job, that solo dude...
Yeah man that cello adds so much to the song. It's my new favorite version if this song. Chris' voice is just superb in this video. Alice Cooper and other rock musicians would call him "The Voice."
Agreed. Chris always seems to have been playing with the very best of musicians
Bryan Gibson is the talented cellist.
Chel-O!
Already, words can hardly Express. So bad ass
I was fortunate enough to meet Chris about 10 years ago at the music studio I was interning at. He was performing a solo show in Cleveland that night so he came to record a podcast for AP Magazine that was upstairs from the studio. He was very friendly. I shook his hand and told him I love everything he's done. I sat and listened intently as he spoke about his life and the history of grunge/his entire career. It was magical. He was a magical person. Such a goddamn shame we lost him. RIP to one of the greatest voices/artists music has ever known.
I was SO sad when I heard of his passing, right in my home state too. It was my plan to see him that year.
Nail Why does this comment not have 10 million likes?!!? Thank you so much for sharing, i love to hear things like this. He was gone way too soon. You’re very lucky to have met him before his soul departed this plane. Maybe we will see him again on the other side.
Anthony Sullivan like a punch in the gut.
He might of been a victim of Arkanside
Without a doubt the purest artist who has ever stepped on the planet, RIP Chris
The sheer control over the power in his voice resonates with me.
Gift, is all. Pure gift. Simply astonishing and wonderful to listen to. One of the greatest artists that will ever walk this Earth. Period.
Why chris
The republic has fallen and Chris Cornell is gone. Help, God.

Wow!!!!
@@johnfredricks3329 mindbending
I love how he sits there looking all California casual and just belts out something so powerful and heart wrenchingly beautiful. No one sings like you anymore.
Love how thats his album name now too lol
And never will
Looking California, feeling Minnesota. The Cornell motto.
Never will
@@alexcunningham4847 the comment i was gonna make. Glad to see it already there.
It's 2023. Who's still in awe of this voice from the heavens?
Giving goosebumps in 2023. RIP legend.
This song spoke to me in some pretty low times. RIP Chris :/
Me too especially with my struggle with h addiction.
Me too and still does. I think it always will.
Oh Chris 💔 I miss you.
This song came to me in the throes ofn
a deep depression. It literally kept me from the brink. Forever grateful.
Just like it is for me tonight. 😔 He is so missed!
if 3:31 doesn't give you chills, I don't know what will.
IntrovertedLoner; totally!! 💞💞💞
That’s amazing. How many octaves did he run through there. Wow, what a fucking loss.
Without even looking I know exactly what part you are talking about. Badass.
MustObeyTheRules I always got the chills every time I heard this song. Throughout many parts
I know exactly what part you're talking about without even going to it? Just as someone else already mentioned. I think I counted five octaves there but at least 4?!! Chris Cornell you could have put a freaking tuxedo on them and threw him in an opera and he would Blow high-society Away! Actually Chris dressing just how he liked and how he was comfortable Screw The Tuxedo throw him in an opera and let the High Society cringe and maestros kissing his ass! You'll be remembered Chris as long as any other great voice musician artist throughout our history has or at least you deserve to be
What a privilege to be in a room with the great Chris. Love him so so so much!! Miss him badly
Who's here in 2020 listening to this legend?!
I'm still sitting Right Here. 😎💯
GETCHA PULL!!! 🤘😬🤘
🤘
Always...dudes a beast
nce5688 Feb 25th , 2020 10:48 pm- Missing , Chris 💔
Holy crap, I almost started crying. How it is possible to miss someone so much that you've never met?
I'm so grateful that Chris' voice will always have a place in my heart. He touched me so deeply, and I'll always carry his memory with me. I wish I could have helped him somehow to pay him back.
We can pay him back by supporting Human Trafficking Awareness. Let his death not be in vain.
I'm with ya. I love all of the major grunge bands, and I almost cry every time I listen to them. But I listen all the way through. Plus, i like to learn and play their songs. Gotta keep em "alive" as best we can
Loved this song since heard it in 1994 and was there for a BDO acoustic set the same year, I remember everyone not liking the acoustic soundgarden but I loved it. Looking back this song is a cry out for help and I feel privileged to have heard him do a full acoustic set so long ago.
With out a fucking doubt the greatest voice ever .
I'm with u
Hell yeah
Him and Freddie
@@rescuerhonda0164 exactly what I came to comment
No doubt
Chris Cornell is a poet that happens to have a great voice. "what you wanted to be yours, has made you mine".
Great comment, brilliant. I wish I had written that!
jojodice7
Thank you for the kind words jojodice7.
He is my favorite lyricist/vocalist.
: )
MyworstEnemy I can't believe he's gone.... nooooo.... Tears fell from my eyes today, when I heard the news... I hope he has found some peace... I know I haven't found any...
me too jojo. lot of people lost a hero today
MyworstEnemy correct lyrics are "what you wanted to be yours, has made it mine"
How is this video only got 4 million views? this shit's a treasure
A fucking legend. It’s a shame that we will never hear more. What he left us is priceless.
This man had one of the greatest voices to ever grace the stage.
im still sad, feel like we have been robbed
Sierra Farrell is here to soothe us. She needs to do alternative one day
*The Universe
Powerful and full of emotion, he can scream or sing softly and sings harmonies very well. Can hear the pain coming from his soul when he sings.. Very few singers have all those abilities, Not to mention he writes his own lyrics and music and plays guitar while he sings, which is much harder than doing either of them alone
*has
the unison with the cello, then the harmony, then the ending/dynamic at 2:42 ... great!
nice
nice
teared up watching this. rip chris
cm/1977productions me too
R.I.P Chris. I would listen to this version of the song everyday. It's fucking beautiful. Now he's gone. I can't believe it. The greatest rock vocalist imo.
I think I have listened to this everyday since I discovered it.
Lol, I’m going on like 8 month everyday since discovering it
Yup, the fuggin' greatest ever.
Definitely the GREATEST!
No doubt! Such a Massive Loss words can't explain
This is one of Chris's most memorable performance's as far as I'm concerned.
This touches my heart every moment when I listen to it ... Forever Chris!
Stunning, shattering. Thank you for the music, Chris. Hope you are at rest now.
This brought me to tears. What a beautiful and great performance. R.I.P. Chris! We all miss you!
One of the greatest vocalists that's walked this earth. His voice had everything. RIP Mr Cornell.
The man was nothing less than a musical prodigy... 3:35, mad vocal. It's not shocking, yet it IS, in a way because we know Chris was NOT a show off, he didn't always throw his amazing range around. When he did, absolute chills... every damn time.
So true man. And well spotted!
Subtlety
Although I did love him cause nuclear winter with his voice in his early days 😂
Absolutely ❤️🎼💔🙏🏽
Absolutely no words.❤️💙💔
It's 2023, still listening to this legend. R. I. P Chris Cornell
Just saw Cornell last night, on his Higher Truth acoustic tour- this song was particularly brilliant, but the whole show was breathtaking. Cornell's incredible live, with just him and a guitar. Best concert I've ever been to.
RR Taylor last night was pretty good too until afterward
I am deeply saddened by this.....don't know what to say.....
Consider yourself very Blessed
Chris Cornell you are the angel on Earth with that voice! So sweet!
Simply brilliant he's my favourite vocalist ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one of my favorite acoustic songs ever. Nobody quite sings like Cornell
No more black days Chris. Rest well !
JmmmyTool sweet Jesus .. his pain were all over his lyrics. Rest In Peace. CC
JmmmyTool your comment actually made me cry bro. :'( R.I.P Chris
Amazing beautiful man
@@franciscooc6265 he was an angel amongst us
@@Pereke123 good day
I listened to this song with my son Sam and Liked it very much. My son took his life about 5 years ago and
now this song is my life. Please all of you who are deep down the rabbit hole, know the pain felt by the ones left behind. I love you Sam and Chris…RIP
I used to sit and play Audioslave Like A Stone on repeat along with the rest of the CD from beginning to end daily. Now I'm watching videos of him and seeing him perform it's so surreal. He had a voice unlike any other...it was mesmerizing. RIP Mr. Cornell may you sing with the angels now...
That yell at 3:30. Haunting! One of the best, man
His voice always gives me chills in this song. Especially when he holds the long note.
Man, this performance shows just how incredibly talented Chris was. It`s flawless, perfect. Not many could match this. R.I.P.
Cornell is a beast, his voice is back too which is a gift to humanity. He missed almost every second note on his last audioslave tour, but he's killing it again. Living legend!
Kaiser Schwarz his acoustic stuff has been great but every live performance that's not acoustic seems to be crap :/ it sucks cause he's a legend and my favorite voice but he's lost it when it comes to power
It was mostly the more screamy stuff that gave him trouble...his natural singing voice was still in great shape. But, then again, none of that really matters now... :(
in my 58 years I've had the privilege to listen to most of the true rock, blues, grunge singers. The great ones music lives forever and I have no doubt that Chris Cornell's voice will be heard long after I'm gone. Great performance
Living legend?? :(
Think he had quit smoking during his audioslave days. He had that raspyness when he hit his top range.
I'm not going to get tired of listening to this song, it may be one, 10, 20 years, but I'm going to keep shivering when I hear this song.
Forever Chris Cornell.
Forever we will love you, we will never forget you, your songs, Soundgarden.
Amen
OMG..... He just gets better!
Shannon Hutcherson Shannon's Rock!
Eloquent and haunting. I've been taking a musical journey through Chris' work today to make the 6-year anniversary of his death. This song resonates so deeply. Stripped with an eeriness that makes it feel like he is truly singing from beyond the grave. Rest with angels, another rare voice gone too soon.
My absolute favorite rendition of Fell on black days ❣️🥲 NOBODY sings like you anymore . This song has been carrying me from age 13 to me now at 29 and beyond...You are more than missed!
Damn I just burst out crying, I cannot believe he's gone. RIP You were amazing!!
Flawless performance, what a sad day😢 #RIPChrisCornell
Chris singed from the heart, and he was serious pain! R I P Chris!
this voice...RIP Chris...words escape me about how much we have lost..
I seen Chris Cornell live twice, on his solo tour ''Songbook'' He interacts with the audience, jokes and requests. He is unmissable, if you ever get the chance to see him live and acoustic don't miss out.
Brad Hartford wish I'd of gotten the chance.
I am from India, and had a dream to see him live. (Which was never gonna happen in India anyway) So, I did a plan how I was gonna save money and move to abroad just to see him. When he died I got numb for like 4-5 days till I realised he actually died. I still couldn't believe it. Thanks to UA-cam, I can see some of his unseen lives and uplugs.. You were lucky enough to see him in person. Man, Do I sound depressing? I'm actually fine.
@@outshined33 you're a lyin ass dude
Sadly in never had the chance to hear him here in Costa Rica...
The unison of the guitar and cello lines at 2:19 is such an interesting instrumental break.
Damn what a legend RIP ♥
No one will ever have that same beautiful warm tone and amazing voice that he had. Thank you Chris for what you have given us.
Goosebumps...and then overwhelming sadness, such a tragic loss of life and talent, I will NEVER get over his passing. #ChrisCornellForever
I honestly have never seen an artist covering himself...
John Fogerty went to court for doing just that!
Exact example came to my mind as well
Threw me off too! Dumb description.
Imagine if he was covering his own cover of himself.
type in aaron lewis he covers staind all the time
"Chris cornell covers soundgarden" he... he was in soundgarden...
and was the main songwriter... lol "Bono covers U2"
Chris solo is not Soundgarden.
still weird to call it a cover. if you wrote the song I don't think it should be considered a cover. not that it matters anyway but
A cover is making a song with your own style. Sure, the voice is the same cause is Cornell singing but Soundgarden gives it a tone that Chris Cornell (as a solo artist) can't.
This is not Chris doing a cover. lol
Chris Cornell saved my life with his music. ❤
Everything happening here is.pure magical bliss. So good
His voice is absolutely amazing and it aged perfectly.
Like a fine wine and with the looks too
One of the most beautiful things I’ve heard lately ❤
Chris forever.
Rest in peace, master.
A golden voice is gone! RIP Chris
2023 and I'm still listening to this piece of art
haunting emotion escaping through the hallows of Chris cornells mind body and driven vocals
Those black Days. Gone however he is with me always with his music
Still one of the greatest acoustic performances ever, imo
this is my stuffffffffff chris you will always be in our hearts and be remebered as the musician you were YOU ARE A LEGEND
Master Chris Cornell,We are so Fortunate to be blessed by your LOVE And LIGHT Thank You For Sharing Your Inner Most Parts with The World............Mmmmmm so wonderful ...your voice....WoW...
Breaks my heart that he's gone.. Wow what an Artist..
it still feels like he's still here and never went away
That voice man, that god damn beautiful, chilling, raspy, twangy, almost southern feel with the vocal belting that never fails to surprise or impress. Perhaps my all-time fav vocalist, but at the very least up there with them. Mercury, Cornell, Vedder and Dion.
I'm speechless. Where is music today..
Jake Jacobs in a fucking gutter!!!
Everywhere. Just open your goddamn eyes and stop being an old grumpy geezer just cause you couldn't be arsed to dig beyond the surface level of radio pop.
Gone!
This Is one of the best performance I have ever heard, such a quality..
I think back ,94 , stationed in Great Lakes seen Soundgarden, rest is history!
the only song I want to hear in quarantine
Sun spots only get brighter for Chris Cornell the most prolific song writer of our time
.
He is the voice of us all
Chris cornell 😢🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Forever unrivalled. Such a sad loss.
His lyrics always haunted me but now more then ever, God rest your beautiful soul Chris!
that voice soothes my soul every time especially that stretch in the chorus gives me shivers
Just discovering this artist. Love what I'm hearing.
Chris Cornell is absolutely amazing. If you want to discover more, check out Soundgarden & Temple of the Dog. Amazing stuff...
if you havent already, check out his song seasons
He left us too soon. Rest easy Chris!
Untouchable.
Always return to this. What a voice!!!
This is the best version of the song ever. Fkng love the cello
Chris, your voice will echo for eternity. There will be civilizations listening to your art in the year 4949.
Who’s listening 🎧 in 2024
2024. All in. Masterpiece……… touching my soul
Appreciating Chris more and more, this music will be powerful forever
I miss him
I started listening in 1989, and have been every year since. I still struggle with the fact that I won’t be able to see him live ever again, and outside of the new Soundgarden material that the band was working prior to his death, we will never have the privilege of hearing new music from him or Soundgarden again. Just doesn’t make any sense at all. Zero sense……
Me I am, 24 7 100% try to take it I DARE YOU 😜
We lost a living LEGEND, & the most dnamic songwriters/ vocalist R&R ever had!
This performance is magical. Perfect and amazing. Every note. Every vocal. Today 3 years ago, cheers Chris
3:30 brought a tear to my eye
Anyone notice Chester listening in the background? Gonna miss them both... thanks for inspiring me to start singing. Much love.
It's not Chester. Maybe he kind of resembles him, but he's got no tattoos on his arms. Definitely not him
That is not Chester
Seen this amazing display on his last Birthday, fox theaters Spokane Wa. The whole theater roared!!!
He was an awesome, handsome, incredible man!!! His voice makes me feel chills
so Sad your going to be Missing from US Chris R.I.P. Singing with the Angels 💕
Chris is one of the absolute BEST at his craft. Gone too early😢
CHEERS to ALL
The shame of it all is that he was as good as he'd ever been after 30 years and still evolving as an artist.
BKLNHobo True. When you fight inner turmoil it can be by-passed here or there through distraction. Perhaps reaching the apex of his career and having all the control and power one could have in that industry lessened the distraction.
God I miss him and his genius. But I can understand the demons and in the throes of it all, sometimes the pain can be overpowering.
I agree, while he did slower stuff more now, the songs on Higher Truth are very good for a 50 year old man. At some point the well usually runs dry, but he could spin a melody out of anything. I think King Animal is as good as Down on the Upside also.
The sad thing is he died alone
R.I.P brother. its too early!! still can't believe that you are gone :'(
Again only for you Chris....July 2024.
Amazing performance after of my comment in 2020.
The voice of an angel
Normal musicians: voice fades with age
Chris: voice got even better as time passed
I miss him more and more...it will never fade.
Same, I'm listening to chester too , and especially them together..I'm stuck on he's not here anymore, but we can still sing with him,/them! 🥳🤘🌹
5 year gone today I listen to this everyday !!!!🕊🥀🌹🌹🦋
Rock in peace Chris
Kurt was the drive.
Eddie was the perfect fit.
Layne was the power.
Chris was the beating heart.

I heard on 98 rock the day he passed away. I could not stop playing his music for 3 months straight. Every song had me in tears.
