Recently got an Xbox Series X "Broken, no power". It did turn on but the HDMI port was broken, I replaced and now I got a working Xbox. The repair was a pain but I managed.
Your knowledge on these systems is outstanding. still you have more donor boards which is good. buy yourself a corded blower and lose the expensive canned air
you should try reflowing the APUs once in awhile shince they're already Blue Lighting or faulty in a similar way, I fixed a 11 Year Old laptop last December by reflowing it's GPU. It's still working and I just watched this video on it.
Diodes are designed to flow in one direction and has a voltage drop of approx 0.7V. In order to test this properly, you must unplug the power cord and drain all the current (possibly holding down the power button). Otherwise, you're measuring the input voltage minus the voltage drop. When the probes are reversed, it should read overload. Meaning there isn't any current flow. If this doesn't occur then the diode is mostly likely bad.
@TronicsFix, Sir I just want to say, These days you are imitated but NEVER duplicated. The quality of work you do, and the workmanship for each fix is BAR NONE!! 👏👏👍
I put all the plastic pieces in a dish washer and put on a low setting. My friend watched me clean and repair his PS3 Super Slim. You do not need to slam the door closed on the Super Slim. The trigger pin can be knocked loose. (I don't know what else to call it).
Hey steve, love the videos! May be worth investing in an electronics vacuum for all that dust and hair you deal with. I work as a biomedical Technologist in a hospital (fixing medical devices) and we use it all the time on the floors. Helps when you dont have room or dont want noise from a shop vac. Keep up the great work!
@@REALfreaky i use the SCS 497AJN. Esd safe. Great little tool for portability too. Slightly expensive for personal use but when its a hospital they would rather expensive and quality than cheap and poorly built
FYI, on your microscope (it looks like the one i have), I was able to mount it to the stand much closer to the lens, while still allowing the focus to spin. This gave me a wider view, as well as more room for my soldering iron under the scope
man that is some good work! Love watching your diagnostics and trouble shooting. Gives me confidence with other electronics when they don't work. I sit and think okay what could be causing this, like there has to be a reason it doesn't want to work, lots of times its something simple! you got mad skills man love your content!
Steve my man great work as always i just want to say that for the ps4 number 2 try to replace the HDD maybe that's the issue because it dose work but it get stuck i think it's the hard drive not sure though
Hello I have subscribed to you for a long time I am French and you have taught me so many things about the repair of PS4 that I today I can diagnose and repair myself Thank you :) But I have always wondered given your knowledge especially on the PS4 if it will be possible that you try to create a House Box for PS4 With Integrated Screen or not, no matter Ready to take up the challenge? :)
I do small solder work on FPV drones, I wonder if this is something that would come naturally seeing as how the stuff I work on is 30x30mm in size or less.
You might add in the "couldn't fix it" remarks is what it would take to actually make the device work. IF the drive on the "blue light of death" device had a faulty drive then is that all that would make it work? And is it a cost effective or practical fix? AND on the #2 unit that loaded the game but didn't play it, you said the APU needed replacing. They look cheap on line ($12 from Sony) but I also read that the originals were having a problem due to being not soldered on correctly by the factory. Wouldn't a removal of it, clean up and reballing be a good next step short of replacement?
He does not have the equipment for reballing, also he will not get the equipment as he does not see it cost effective as even if he reballs it, it might have other problems that are irreparable
if you are interested I have probably 30 console boards and tons of other stuff for ps3/4 and various xbox model ( no series x or s ) 40 lbs worth.. I can pack it all in a box ....
To be honest it seems like you've been scammed here Steve. The seller if they repair consoles would've known about the BLOD and crashing issues. My opinion of course 😌
I think the seller was just getting into it as a hobby. I’m guessing they didn’t know about it or I have also seen the blod happen just in shipping. It’s crazy how fragile some of these are
i had a ps4 that had a black screen all i had to do was boot it into safemode and rebuild the database/install the system and it worked fine after that
Does the reballing works on the apu chips? Have you tried? I think is a good invest for reballing tools based on so many consoles that have apu issues.

Now that I'm streaming off a fire tv instead of my ps4, I should take my ps4 apart and clean the blu-ray. I hate using it because it doesn't grip the disk very well when loading. And if I break it, it's not the end of the world. I was only using the PS4 for streaming anyway. But anytime I think about a blu-ray movie I'm like....uggg I'll just buy it on amazon so I don't have to deal with that dirty drive.
Hey is there somewhere I can send my ps5 remotes because I play with 1 hand and my remotes are not the biggest fans and some don’t work in different ways and I don’t know how to fix them.💚
I have a friend who has a Ps4 that keeps freezing and disconnecting the controller when he downloads stuff on his external memory. He can put it in rest mode then turn it on but the controller still won't connect untill it is shut down or reset. I have cleaned the inside that had a lot of dust but it still freezes. Do you have any tips that might fix it?
Who knows what they were thinking. Presumably they didn't want a big block and the curves break that up a bit. But the PS5 has more serious issues than that, don't move a PS5 when hot as the liquid metal thermal compound can leak out onto the PCB.
Generally speaking HDDs always spin up when a computer/console is powered up. If it doesn't it's either a bad drive or issues with the power lines. Some drives have fluid bearings to reduce vibration and those can seize up. But the HDD PCB can be bad as well.
Bro I tried to fix stick drift on my controller by replacing the sensor and recalibrating it but I think I need to replace the whole part tbh and soldering is kinda too advance for me 💀💀
Random question unrelated to this video, can you swap motherboards on Xbox one S's? HDMI port broken, no one wants to fix it, could I just order a new motherboard to replace the bad hdmi one and reassemble?
I'm kinda wondering if the second ps4 might have a faulty hard drive. I've had a few give me blod symptoms but were chocked up to dying hard drives. Might still be salvageable.
Question. I've never opened a console before to do a full cleaning like a heat sink cleaning. If I were to, would I need to replace the thermal paste? Or am I ok to do it without it? If not, I need to find some first.
I literally put windows 10 onto an old chromebook and i fix laptops and nintendo consoles, all the way up from the ds lite to the new 3ds xl. i also do motherboard replacements as well for desktop pcs and different kinds of repairs.

Does the fibers on the probes bother anyone else?
That is a lot of work. No wonder the seller got rid of them.
Ha, ha, yes, no wonder!
Especially given the PS4 is common and doesn't fetch a lot used. Although the shortage of the PS5 is keeping the PS4 slightly more relevant.
