Im so in love, I used to only do variations of two stitches. I have recently added two new ones.... so excited. You are an excellent teacher, I didn't even have to slow down the video!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I've been going insane trying to master it! I think it was your explanation of the stitch above the front post that sealed the deal! 🎉
I’ve always love the waffle stitch but I thought it alternated front AND back post dc! So your video and explanation made it soooo clear and I’m now going to do a scarf with my first waffle - ty so much for an explanation video!
Great tutorial! I was finally able to understand exactly how to do this beautiful stitch. I tried a couple of times, but it was a bust! You explained it so well, and your instructions were easy to follow. Thanks so very much for sharing your talent and expertise with us😊.
Thankyou so much for your tutorial, I looked at some others and really struggled then I found you you explained it so well and I didn't make any mistakes 💗
I know this video is old, but I had to say thank you because this was so simple and easy to follow as a relative beginner. I can't wait to use this for all kinds of projects!
Thanks, I’m trying to find videos of various stitches. I’m just learning and am currently working on SC (U.S.). I’m doing well with it and have a blanket started with SC (about 60”x15) so far. When I get back from vacation, I’ll start learning a new stitch. I’m thinking either the DC or the Tunisian Crochet. Eventually I’ll know several stitches to make neat patterns.
I'm making a waffle bag, with a tiny dollop of butter, but I couldn't seem to understand this stitch and you helped so much!!! the written and other interpretations were so weird, but you made it make so much sense, and a good quality video!!❤
it could be your gauge? hook size and the yarn weight? if you're using worsted I'd recommend 4.5 or 5! :) hope you figured it out, I know this is 3 weeks late haha
You have to make sure you’re going underneath the top stitch, not into it. I had the exact same problem when I was doing my basketweave granny squares. Try doing it around the actual post instead of into the gap above it :) hope this helps and I’m happy to answer any questions you have if you need!
I tried following a waffle stitch baby blanket pattern from the Micheals website, they didn't explain how to do the front DC and I was so confused. I'm so glad you explained it. I would've given up if I didn't find your video! 😅
Thank you so much for posting this Waffle Stitch tutorial. I love this stitch and I want to make a whole blanket with just this pattern. I don't even care if it is a yarn hog, I think it's worth the extra yarn. 🙂❤❤
Hello I’m new to your channel I like Your video on the crochet in the Waffle stitch I have looked at some other videos but I didn’t like them way they did theirs Videos .you do it better and explain it better so now I learn how to do the waffle stitch thank you very much
It would totally depend on the yarn and hook being used and what your gauge is. I do have a pattern for a Waffle stitch blanket here that you could use for reference: hearthookhome.com/waffle-crochet-free-blanket-pattern/
In the 1st row after doing fpdc there was that stitch that you explained that it was still being used even if we didn't go into it. Is it the same thought process for the row after that. Because that's where i keep messing up
Great video! You mentioned this one is a yarn hog. Does it take a bit longer too? I'm just wondering if I have time to make a lapghan with this before Christmas. 🤣
pro tip - when edging your piece, on the wobbly sides, evenly place three edging stitches (I used single crochet) for every two rows. each little box is technically 3 double crochet wide (the raised fpdc, plus the two regular dc that make the waffle box indent), so if you are crocheting down the wobbly edge and you stitch 2 single crochet for every row of double crochet, your edge will be slightly too many stitches for the actual length of the piece, and will turn out bulky and rippley. I learned this the hard way. 3 edge stitches (sc in my case) per every two rows (one waffle box is formed vertically every two rows) is not only proportional to the amount of stitches that forms a waffle box horizontally, but lays nice and flat and looks very pretty. I’m not sure exactly how to explain this, so if you have a question, feel free to respond to this comment. but honestly I’m just leaving this here as a note to myself for the future. and I thought it could be helpful for anyone else. btw, lovely video, wonderful tutorial, very pretty end product. thanks sm!!
You’re the best! I was wondering why my edges were so funky and how I was going to clean them up. I figured 3 would do it and your comment was what I needed to see.
Loved this video! We have very similar crochet techniques. I currently have an injury in my left index finger (not caused by, but exacerbated by crocheting). Have you ever had an injury to that finger, and if so, how did you heal it?
OH, I have the same injury >:0! I got myself a trigger finger brace on Amazon to keep it from moving. Its been like 3 weeks since mine started hurting and idk I think we just gotta get used to crotchet.
You explained this waffle stitch well and easy to understand! Thank you for sharing, I’ve learned so much from you.
I'm so glad!
This crocheter has a magical teaching way. TY

Glad it was helpful!
thank you - great photography = clear, in focus, and your hook speed is slow enough for a viewer to follow what you are doing.
I’ve always love the waffle stitch but I thought it alternated front AND back post dc! So your video and explanation made it soooo clear and I’m now going to do a scarf with my first waffle - ty so much for an explanation video!
No but you did do another cool stitch called a basketweave stitch which is what I’m using for my baby blanket!
Soooo helpful, thanks! Now I can crochet pillow covers with this stich!
Thank you so much! This was so helpful, followed along and got the scarf done within two hours!! Lol some trial and error but I got there ❤

Been trying to figure this out but for some reason my FPDC stitches aren't popping out, I'm only getting the 3D detail with the horizontal lines

Welcome Brenda! I am so glad you liked the video and found it helpful!
Yep, also gonna make this as a dish rag for my momma (and probably myself!!)
I want to use the waffle stitch to make a couch cover blanket . How long would the chain need to be for 68"?
It would totally depend on the yarn and hook being used and what your gauge is. I do have a pattern for a Waffle stitch blanket here that you could use for reference: hearthookhome.com/waffle-crochet-free-blanket-pattern/
Thanks so much for the knowledge.

I wish I understood what you are talking about here. What is a wobbly side?
The edge ends up looking scalloped instead of straight@juliepoulos83
You’re the best! I was wondering why my edges were so funky and how I was going to clean them up. I figured 3 would do it and your comment was what I needed to see.
Could you post a video on this. I’m a visual learner and it would be so helpful for me.
Such a great video!!!!! Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Can I decrease and increase with waffle stitch?
Thank you so much ❤. This was so helpful
How would I go about inceasing while doing the waffle stitch? I've spend 30 mins googling and can't find an answer anywhere.
When you’re left handed, does it make the pattern different?
idk for this specifically, but for use of item there is no difference. the loops do go the opposite way though
This is awesome ❤
Thanks alot
Ty I can Totally do this💕
Great tutorial to follow!! You really explained it so well, the first time it actually clicked for me. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Love this video 💕👏👏👏
Is there a reason you only go into the back loops and not the whole stitch? I normally do amigurumi so not used to chains lol
Beautiful 😍 thank you 😊 🙏 ❤️
If you’re making small waffle squares, are they easy to sew together?
I think so! This video will help: ua-cam.com/video/FRSaTCFludY/v-deo.html
❤Thank you for sharing ❤
hi! i have a request fora tutorial pls - can u make avudeo on how to crochet a heart in the waffle stich? xx
Thank you! I believe I can do it without watching it again!

I'm going to give your tutorial a try.
And come back to let you know....
So helpful!
I feel like this stitch would be good for a scarf
It would be fabulous for a squishy scarf!
A blanket out of this would be so cozy, but I would never finish it and I would go broke buying the yarn it would require 😅
Thank you!
I'm just learning will re-watch until I get it. Also looking for pattern
