I'm a beginner does it matter if u place the double crochet in the big part of the stitch or does it have to go in smaller top part of the stitch?? Just wondering what difference is...
These patterns are easy to understand. I. Was watching another crochet video and the author said she couldn't count her stitches for fear of getting the video pulled. I think is a bunch of rubbish.roin you are a great teacher and you make the patterns simple. Keep on trucking.
Without a doubt, you are the first person that I have watched that was completely understandable!! Thanks for that. I’ve been crocheting for years and wanted to add some new fresh stitches to my brain file!! You got a 10+ for clarity! I have watched a bazillion and none were as good at explaining as you are!
I agree. Great instructions. I'm a former knitter. Would like to learn simple crochet stitches to make baby blankets to donate. Thank you so much.. Now just need to pick a pattern. From northern NY
I am going to try this stitch when I get home. I love all your videos. You go slow so I can see how to stitch step by step. You have the best crochet channel on UA-cam.
Thank you so much for breaking things down so exactly. I just started crocheting. I learned the basics as a little girl from my great-grandmother. I remember just being absolutely mesmerized watching her little hands work furiously on projects, being amazed as the yarn became something beautiful and intricate. I never thought I could do what she did. But here I am, watching your tutorials and actually connecting with her even though she's been gone for 30 years. Thank you for giving me this wonderful gift. I'm sharing this with my family in the form of blankets and they love them. I'm physically chained to my bed as I am unwell and have been feeling depressed and useless, you've brought me back to life in a way and I couldn't be more grateful. Keep the tutorials coming they're fantastic!! Take care of you♡
After learning the basic stitches this was the first project I took on as a new comer to crochet. I had a easy time following the directions and ended up with a beautiful blanket. I get compliments on it all the time! Thank you again!
I love your videos and how clear the instructions are. I also appreciate when you leave in the oops moments we all have no matter how experienced we are.
I don't know why I ever watch anyone else's tutorials! I've seen this stitch shown a few times and thought it's just above me still. Once again, I see you explain and show it and I'm ready to rock and roll!!💜💜💜
Thank you so much for explaining the process so clearly. You are the first person that I have understood and have actually had a piece of work that looks like a piece of work not a great ball of knotted wool😊

Have seen the waffle stitch before and it was with FPDC and BPDC. That was too much for my old brain. Love this and your tutorials are so wonderful!!! Thank you so much!

Thank you for this waffle stitch. I am a beginner crocheter, and this seems to be a stitch I could handle. Also, I am left handed, watching videos helps me to reverse the process. So good of you to offer left hand videos too!
I have made several afghans with the waffle stitch & I prewash them before I gift them so they are extra cuddly. I have done so many since I needed a refresher course! I seriously forget some stitches/patterns. You do a great job at showing how to do all your vids & yours are easier to pick up on than many others. I am well into the next project following your tutorial for it, it's a bigger yarn eater than this one is so I went back to the store & bought the last 4 skeins of yarn they had in my soft white!

I love watching your videos because you go slow enough to where I can see and hear how to do each step. Your the only one I could follow to make a waffle pattern. Thank you so much. I know how to make one now.

So thank you for your easy instructions and beautiful work. I'm going to try your version. Wish I had found this about 20 years ago. 😂

What a fun stitch! Super easy to follow along with you. I have plans to incorporate as many of my partial skeins as I can with this stitch for a nice little throw. 💞
Thank you Robin lovely texture I did this stitch years ago but have forgotten so I was delighted to see you had this tutorial. Lovely a great teacher so clear.. 💛💚💜

Robin, I absolutely love how you instruct the different stitches and slowly and carefully demonstrate how to achieve them. Your pointers are absolutely right on. I have been able to “teach myself” how to create many beautiful projects. Thank you for helping me to LOVE crochet! Kathy
This is the third tutorial of the waffle stitch that I have watched and the first one that makes sense! Thank you so much, I feel like even I can do this now! ❤
This is such a nice stitch. I love how it looks when you’ve got several rows done. And your tutorial is so easy to understand. You are so precise in which stitches to crochet in. I love it. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I’ve seen so many tutorials on the waffle stitch and attempted doing it so many times but i didn’t understand it at all and ended up with a mess of yarn everywhere! Your explanations are detailed and clear. I had tried this pattern before with another video and it did not work. Yours is so much simpler to follow. Thanks a lot.
I absolutely LOVE waffle style blankets, been wanting to try my hand at something like this but it always seemed so complicated. Your explanations are clear and concise, excited to start trying samples!
Really a fabulous stitch. I made myself a small blanket with waffle stitch a few years ago. I love listening to your tutorials. Beautiful yarn you're using. ❤
OMG. I love this stitch. I watched someone else’s video on it and got totally confused. You made it so easy! I can’t wait to use this on my next afghan.
Thank you again Robin for another excellent video. You are slow and consice in all your videos and that is why they are so easy to follow. I am fairly certain that if you posted a video on how to build the Space Shuttle I would watch it and sure enough I would build that shuttle! Not sure if NASA would concur....
Thank you, Robin! You are by far the best teacher for all the new stitches I've been leaning by watching you! I'm having so much fun making blankets! :)
@Shawna Mayle if a J hook is working out for you then that's fine! If it's a bit tight and stiff, you can go up a hook size (or the reverse if it's too loose) x
@Shawna Mayle I have! (But not for the waffle stitch - for my scrap blankets I tend to double up the strands to make really quick thick blankets that eat my stash 😂)
I kept seeing this stitch on afghans on a fb crochet group I'm in. I'm, I guess, an advanced beginner, and I thought it would be difficult. You explained it perfectly, and I'm no longer intimidated by this stitch. I can't wait to finish my current project so I can give this a go with some of my leftover yarn! Thanks!
@HookedbyRobin I made a waffle stitch afghan for my adult son, one for me, currently making one for husband. Next, I'm making a small cotton one for my dog. It's become my favorite stitch!
I love this stitch. I’m so happy I found your channel tonight. I have been down with Covid since the beginning of Nov and I love to craft but don’t have the energy right now. I have watched a few of your videos and you gave me the renewed confidence that I CAN do these. I learned to crochet a very long time ago but never accomplished anything. For some reason this is all falling into place. Thanks so much for your tutorials and calming sweet voice. ❤Gayle.
I hope you feel better soon Gayle, covid has knocked so many people off their feet. Rest up and crochet when you feel able to, even 5 minutes can give some much needed happiness.😃🧶
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. Working the too rows again cleared up a little uncertainity about the front post dc. Using your pattern for a pillow.😊 Plan to watch more of your tutorials. Youre a very good teacher.😊
This was the most helpful tutorial I have found for doing this stitch. I just finished a blanket and am about to start a new one so I reviewed the video again. I think there might be a slight discrepancy or I may be misunderstanding. At the end of the first row 2, your last stitch is in the DC below but you don’t DC in the chain; but when you do the subsequent “row 2” you do DC in the chain below as the last stitch.
I was confused about that too- I think it may be because the first Row 2 had the DC-all the way across-set up row under it, and the subsequent Row 2’s have the Row 3’s under it which leaves only the chain 3 to DC in, if that makes any sense at all lol
If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! See this video on exactly how: ua-cam.com/video/LIRYwkkI_4Y/v-deo.html 😀
Could you tell me, please, if doing this with 2 ply baby wool which size hook would you use? I absolutely love this.
That wool you're using is gorgeous!

You hold your yarn and your work exactly as is most comfortable for me yet so many have told me I am doing it "wrong" which drives me crazy !!
There is definitely no right or wrong I think, whatever is most comfy Shelly! 😃
Robin you are so great at this hobby. I love following your patterns ❤❤❤
Thank you Kathleen! 🤗
OMG. I love this stitch. I watched someone else’s video on it and got totally confused. You made it so easy! I can’t wait to use this on my next afghan.
I’m glad the video helped Sally!😃 Enjoy making your Afghan.
Very pretty stitch! I agree, very simple! Thanks Robin!
Thank you so much Sally! 🥰
Thank you again Robin for another excellent video. You are slow and consice in all your videos and that is why they are so easy to follow. I am fairly certain that if you posted a video on how to build the Space Shuttle I would watch it and sure enough I would build that shuttle! Not sure if NASA would concur....
😅 Thank you so much Kathryn, I love this comment!x
The waffle pattern is such a beautiful pattern thankyou for sharing 😊😊❤❤❤
You're welcome Tracey, I am glad you like it.😀
Thank you, Robin! You are by far the best teacher for all the new stitches I've been leaning by watching you! I'm having so much fun making blankets! :)
Thank you so much for your support Shawna, it is so appreciated.🥰🧶
I doubled my yarn on my waffle pattern. What size hook would be best? I've been using a size J
@Shawna Mayle if a J hook is working out for you then that's fine! If it's a bit tight and stiff, you can go up a hook size (or the reverse if it's too loose) x
Have you ever doubled your yarn strands? Or am I just a bit wonky? Haha
Thanks!
Ah, I’m so glad my video will help.😃 Do let me know how you find it Sandy.x
@HookedbyRobin I made a waffle stitch afghan for my adult son, one for me, currently making one for husband. Next, I'm making a small cotton one for my dog. It's become my favorite stitch!
I love that, especially making one for your dog.😍😍
thank you Robin, for this amazing stitch 💘🤧
Wow! Really effective and as you say once you get going and into a routine it’s becomes quite simple, beautiful thank you Robin 😘🙏🏻
Initially it's a bit of a head scratcher but yeah, once you get the rythmn and can spot those stitches it's plain sailing! Xx
@@HookedbyRobin I think your demonstration of this stitch is like Savlon, it stops the scratching 😂😂😂
@@barbsdee3831 😂😂😂😂
Precise, crystal clear instructions and beautiful outcome. Thanks for the guidance
Thank you so much Maryam!🥰🤗
@@HookedbyRobin Bless you ☺. Do keep guiding us by sharing your beautiful skill with us 💖🤗

Thankyou Robin for sharing these amazing tutorials. I am learning so much from you. Loads of love !!
I am so pleased to read that Richa, thank you! 🥰
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. Working the too rows again cleared up a little uncertainity about the front post dc. Using your pattern for a pillow.😊 Plan to watch more of your tutorials. Youre a very good teacher.😊
Thank you so much Camilla, I hope you enjoy the rest of the videos.😃🧶
This is the best tutorial I’ve seen so far

This is a cool stitch! Thank you for the great tutorial! Take care and stay safe!
Thank you. Loved learning the stitch! Working on a baby blanket for a friend using this pattern!
You’re welcome Cassie, lovely blanket idea!🥰
This was the most helpful tutorial I have found for doing this stitch. I just finished a blanket and am about to start a new one so I reviewed the video again. I think there might be a slight discrepancy or I may be misunderstanding. At the end of the first row 2, your last stitch is in the DC below but you don’t DC in the chain; but when you do the subsequent “row 2” you do DC in the chain below as the last stitch.
I was confused about that too- I think it may be because the first Row 2 had the DC-all the way across-set up row under it, and the subsequent Row 2’s have the Row 3’s under it which leaves only the chain 3 to DC in, if that makes any sense at all lol
yes thank youu for showing us this stitch
