      Do you have that? Most T2D's have adequate pancreatic function.

      @@drekberg i am T2D but controled with LCHF diet. I was reading a article that every T2D have beta cell dysfunction, ratio may vary patient to patient and also it is progressive it BG is not controled. If you share knowledge with us on this topic it is highly appriciated. Thanks

    • @drekberg
      @drekberg  5 років тому +11

      That has not been my experience. Some T2D's can develop antibodies to pancreas over time and become what is sometimes called Type 1.5. Sometimes the pancreas can just wear out from overwork and malnutrition, but fortunately the pancreas is rarely the problem in T2D in my experience. Sometimes people say stupid things like "The pancreas is not making enough insulin to keep blood sugar down", and they are assuming that there is pancreatic dysfunction, but the insulin is only insufficient because of massive IR and tons of carbs.

    I am 30 year old guy.. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in Dec 2022.. when the first time I got tested my A1C was 11.5.. I was put on Metformin first 2 months and then on Janumet 1000 mg daily dose, three months later my A1C is 5.9!!! This is due to combination of exercise (only walking 20 mins avg daily), healthy diet (watching my Carbs intake), more fibers and green veggies. My point is.. if we know the mechanism behind these diseases, which is lucidly and interestingly explained by Dr. Sten(thanks to him), helps control your blood sugar and keep things in check.. My goal is to get off medication and to be able to balance demand and supply of blood sugar and the insulin... cheers!!!!

    By speaking slowly and clearly, and using figurative language effectively here, you are able to simplify this topic. Your method aids not only in the understanding of insulin resistance, but also in remembering the details of what is actually going on between the cells and insulin. I will always remember the frustrated cells and the annoying salesman!!

      Never a doctor has made it so simple for me to understand what diabetic is and how it works. Thank you so much for this video. I am a diabetic for 21+ years and have to use Metformine and insuline. Afther a year of eating vegetarian, i did not lose weight and did not gain any weight, but i had to use more and more insuline... 18 months ago i started to eat meat again and surprizingly i loosed weight... 13 kilo's in 5 months and then it stopt. Slowly i have loosed 5 more kilo's in the last year, so now i found the Keto way of eating and hope to lose weight again, in the first place to get and stay healthy so i get rid of the diabetes and all the medication i must use.
      Thanks again for this video.

    I'm a retired RN. I was diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy(MMD) 7 years ago. MMD causes severe insulin resistance. My doctors just want me to take insulin or some other super expensive drugs. Finally I stopped the insulin and glimepiride. Now I only take 2 grams of Metformin and Invokana. My last A1C was 8.1, down from 11. I've started Keto with IF and trying for OMAD with occasional 2-3 day fasts. My blood sugar is now pretty much normal. My highest postprandial(after eating) blood sugar has been 137. My fasting blood sugar has varied between 63 and 108. I thought Keto and IF were just a fad, but they have really worked for me. I worked in surgery my entire career, so diabetes was not an area of specialty for me. You have confirmed many of the ideas I've had about my "diabetes" for quite some time. Thank you so much for your videos. They have been very helpful.

    I'm pretty sure blood pressure drugs increased my insulin resistance and made me diabetic; ironically, driving me to LCHF/IF, in which I reversed the diabetes, and am still working on lowering my insulin resistance, with a fasting insulin around 8.5.
    If the doctor had tested my fasting insulin when I was diagnosed with a hypertensive crisis and educated me in what it meant, I would have had a three-year head start over my current situation, and probably never would have experienced the same level of neuropathy and other symptoms.

    Thank you for the excellent video. I have been T2D for over a decade. I have been on an essentially keto diet (intermittent fasting 16/8) for 18 months and had stalled after losing 30 kg from a start of 130. Since commencing ACV before each of my 2 meals a day my appetite has reduced so much that I have been able to halve my intake and drop a further 8 kg (in about a month). You don't mention it's appetite suppressant action in any of the videos I've seen and I wondered if you or others were aware of it?

    This is a wonderful description on how Insulin Resistence works. Gosh why can't our doctors do this instead of presribing $$$ drugs, also why are so many people totally accepting their diabetes 2 and not run to the library to start learning... I went to Costco the other day and one big lane of parking was dedicated tohandicapped parking. Used to be elderly frail people now you see most people parking there extremely obese then usung the handicapped shopping carts that the store also has many of, at 10 that I counted. Diabetes T2 is a epidemic in America equal to the opioid addiction.

    The biggest thing I found with apple cider vinegar is the fact and I mean fact that it does lower blood pressure. I've gone to my doctor recently with some of the lowest blood pressure readings that I've ever had. For years I've had problems with keeping my blood pressure down even with medication. I started taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar just for the fun of it and quickly realized that it was doing amazing things.

The thing is that once I stopped taking the ACV my blood pressure shot right back up again pretty quickly. Anyone on bp meds needs to monitor their pressure when adding ACV as it Can, and probably Will, lower it!😉

  • @daudariehbenisrael12

    Great explanation of Insulin Resistance. What I learned:
    1) the cause of insulin resistance is INSULIN
    2) in treating insulin resistance, it is optimal when we are on a low-carb diet (like Keto), intermittent fasting and physical exercise (specifically HIIT). This creates a homeostasis (balance) for the body and improves the cell’s insulin intake (supply and demand)
    3) taking any supplement, ie ACV, doesn’t help or hurt when you aren’t actively reducing your carb intake using methods such as intermittent fasting, keto dieting, etc). Doing so and still taking in large amounts of carbs just increases insulin and does nothing to solve or treat the metabolic syndrome. All it does then is slow the blood glucose rise but the underlying issue is still persistent and remains untreated. It’s simply deception and a slower death and will have the same outcome eventually as if you didn’t take any natural supplement at all!
    4) taking a supplement such as ACV while continuing to reduce the carbohydrates is GOOD in treating the insulin resistance
    My only questions are:
    1. can the insulin resistance be cured eventually by doing the intermittent fasting, low carb dieting, HIIT exercise? Does the cell’s IR improve to where one can eat a high carb meal, say once every other day, and their body’s ability to lower their blood glucose is as efficient as someone without any insulin resistance? Can a type 2 diabetic be “completely” cured? By “completely” I mean no more meditation but most importantly a normal A1C regardless of what they eat. I personally think not but by managing it via the means which were mentioned (Intermittent fasting, eating low carb and exercising), one can lead a normal life without any complications. What do you say?
    Great, great video!

      You are playing with fire if your goal is to kick IR out of your life then plan on going back to eating the same junk that got you into this mess in the first place. It was an unhealthy diet from the start the way you used to eat and you want to play with it again. Keto is the new way to stay healthy for life. Best thing to do is when you eat a high carb take your glucometer and check. To me that is playing with fire.

    • @Silentpartner2176
      @Silentpartner2176 3 роки тому +4

      I have the same questions. It seems had we never damaged our bodies in the first place we could still enjoy healthy carbs in moderation. Afterall nature makes carbs too and many cultures live on them without problems.

    • @ShyLewis101
      @ShyLewis101 3 роки тому +13

      @@bibsann861 I totally understand that question. It’s not necessarily about going back to junk but having a bowl of pasta every so often or even a pizza is what I really miss. Keto is not easy for everyone, I do it only for my health but do I enjoy it? No. Not at all. Even though I see the benefits sometimes I just want to chow down on a burger and have a chocolate.

    • @Silentpartner2176
      @Silentpartner2176 3 роки тому +4

      @@ShyLewis101 I’m with you. I think we were designed to eat carbs as a human species, at least in moderation. There is a reason permanent keto diets are difficult, it’s because they go against our nature. I really think there are better ways to heal. Fasting is looking very promising to be able to reverse disease.
