Sir, unrelated to your video but is there a difference between chewing your food from just making it into a drinkable one. Let’s say blueberries, I mix it with kefir or yoghurt blend it then drink. I’m wondering if saliva has anything to do with it. I’m not a health expert, just a normal person who lost weight thanks to your fasting videos.

All I hear in my diabetes group is you should eat 4 - 6 small meals and eat to keep your blood sugar level. Which of course keeps insulin active in the body. I managed to reverse mine in three months completely doing one meal a day. It's crazy what these doctors, dietitians and quite frankly the American Diabetes Association is telling Type 2 diabetics.

The 6 small meals philosophy was what I was told back in the 80’s. It’s what was believed to be best. The great thing about fasting, especially one meal a day, is that it basically doesn’t matter what you eat for that meal. You don’t have to worry about what you can and can’t have. Give yourself a time limit, usually 1 to 2 hours, to eat what you want then shut off the intake until 22 or so hours later. This is literally life changing.

A 59-year-old man with type 2 diabetes who needed multiple insulin injections daily was given an innovative cell transplant
He has now been insulin-free for 33 months and is not on any other medication, giving hope to other diabetes sufferers
For patients battling diabetes, a group of Chinese scientists and clinicians may offer a glimmer of hope. For the first time in the world, a patient’s diabetes has reportedly been cured using cell therapy.
The patient, a 59-year-old man who had been living with type 2 diabetes for 25 years, was at serious risk of complications from the disease. He had a kidney transplant in 2017, but had lost most of his pancreatic islet function which controls blood glucose levels, and relied on multiple insulin injections every day.

Sounds to me like what really happened was you hadn't listened to your medical specialists, then lost weight while fasting, reducing your adipose tissue and thus insulin resistance. Nicola Guess and Nutrition Made Simple are better than Fung. I don't listen to anybody else their information isn't good enough. For example, Dr. Stanfield says there's no benefit to IF beyond caloric restriction. But, if this method works for you, that's all that matters

The key to permanently lower blood sugar is weight loss: I've previously done "The Newcastle Diet" - 8 weeks of severely calorie restricted eating, after which I was about 10kg lighter, and - for a while - was technically back to being pre-diabetic. However, unfortunately I let the good work go to waste (waist?) and put the lbs back on, and here we are. I listened to Dr. Fung's books "The Obesity Code" and "The Diabetic Code" several times when commuting to and from work about 5 years ago and implemented his recommendations into my life. I was 195 pounds six years ago. I'm retired now and will be 70 years old in three months, and currently weigh around 165 pounds, fifteen pounds over my weight of 150 when I was 18 years old. I swim daily now for an hour and walk and hike frequently. I occasionally do a 48 or 72 hour fast, but now, my primary fasting routine is to skip breakfast, except for coffee and water and try to limit myself to just one nutritious midday meal of whole, natural home cooked meals. I am not always successful and occasional will fall off the wagon and eat something during the early evening, but I hold to the routine more often than not. I've eliminated almost all added sugar by avoiding processed food from the grocery store as much as possible, and absolutely avoid all the fast food hamburger and ice cream based fast food establishments you see alone the road everywhere. Sugar is so insidious, but it is true that you will learn to live without it the longer you stick to not eating it.
I don't want to sound like a fanatic, but you really do have to go "cold turkey" with the sugar. The reality is that after a month or more of total avoidance of sucrose, a taste of the stuff in a soft drink, or other concentrated sucrose delivery system will actually be slightly nauseous. When you get to this point, it is a cakewalk to continue to eschew it.
I do not eat snacks, but I do sip on black coffee or coffee with a tablespoon of heavy whipping cream throughout the day, in addition to a tall glass of water every couple of hours.
Now, I was never diagnosed with diabetes, or severe obesity for that matter, but I was severely overweight. Trying to jog or eat less was not resulting in any success as I got older, and this is why I made these changes. I do feel very good physically now, and am glad I started this lifestyle before I became severely obese.

After reading most (all) of your books, and more, I started fasting 36 hours every other day, beginning 2023 September 01. A bit later, I started 60 hour fasts every 3 days. I'm currently on a 6 day fast, ending tomorrow. As of this morning (2023 November 03, 2 months later), I've lost 32 lbs from 250, my body fat went from just under 30% to just over 25%, and my waist went from49.5" to 40.5". My A1C came down (before I started) from 8 to 6.5 (for most of this year), while taking 2.5 (max dose) Ozempic weekly, Forxiga, and 20-25 units of fast acting insulin 3x/day. I cut the Ozempic and Forxiga cold turkey, and weaned the insulin within a few weeks. At first, I would spike and drastically drop (crash) with even 10 units of insulin for one or two meals (2 meals a day for eating days), so I stopped insulin completely. This is the first time I was able to stay within range (3.9-10) blood glucose 100% of the time for many days at a time. However, lately (even day 5 of 6 day fast), it's been very difficult to keep blood glucose within range. Also, I occasionally use keto strips to monitor ketosis, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Granted, my fasting is not perfect (I eat a few nuts or chips once a day of fasting to to take with a couple meds. I expected to be in ketosis by day 2 of fasting easily, but it's not happening. Why might that be? Despite these 2 concerns (blood glucose levels, ketosis), I'm very happy with what I'm seeing and feeling.

Sounds great. Congratulations! What are you esting on your eating days? May be the reson you´re not in ketosis. Are you keeping your meals keto? It´s totally worth it. Even going carnivore coupled with fasting would help reverse diabetes even quicker.

@@_Pat_1111 Until now, eating days included bacon and eggs, protein drink, amino acid drink, maybe a salad, a "super foods" veggie powder drink, and high fat bran muffins. Starting tomorrow, I plan on temporarily ditching the salad and bacon and eggs. I'm hoping to be consistent in what I eat so I can better predict my weight loss. I do fasted workouts almost daily. Fluids include coffee/tea (no sweeteners), a trace mineral drink with a bit of flavoring from one of those tiny squeeze bottles. It seems to me that, even with the small amount of nuts/chips/crackers (just enough to swallow a few pills - I can't drink them down) would not be enough to maintain high blood glucose, especially on the 2nd day of a fast.

Also because of Dr Fung I started with intermittent fasting.. as a result it kept me away from junk food during the fast. Then I eliminated sugar and carbs in addition to intermittent fasting. fasting got easier. finally I went meat based and it made fasting very easy.. I'm doing one full meal in a day or OMAD. And sometimes I do 3day fasting
I don't schedule when to fast or when to break the fast. I use a stop watch to check how many hours since I had a meal.
A stopwatch is very useful for me because when the cravings hit, the stopwatch tells me it is just a fake hunger. I also use a ketone breath meter it shows whether I'm fat burning or not.

My doctor was so surprised to see that I was completely out of diabetes. I lost 7 kg. She did not prescribe any more medicine. I used to take 3 tablets everyday. I did not consider myself to have a terrible diet until actually learning and realizing what the things they put in our food does to us I am a single mother with two young children. I honestly thought I was dying. I was so sick and could not get over it and was watching my body right in front of my eyes. I am so glad I found your channel. When I was younger (late teens/early 20's) I ate 1 meal a day because I wasn't hungry - I had insulin resistance but my weight although too heavy was stable and I had no other medical problems. Got married in my early 20's and ate 3 meals a day as that's what my husband did - then high bp, high cholesterol, PCOS was "discovered". Late 20's had my baby and again eat 3 meals a day as breast feeding - more weight piled on (it's postpartum weight don't worry about it). Then came metformin - higher and higher doses but not diabetic as fasting blood sugars were 5.8. Still piling on the weight despite calorie controlled diet - then I discovered Keto - amazing weight came off so easily but had a t-wave inversion - it's Keto that's done that I was told, so back to low fat and still the weight came on - fast forward to my late 30's - 1st attack of psoriatic arthritis, 1st attack of gallbladder problems, mental & physical breakdown in 2004 - 16 weeks on the nut ward - never really recovered so couldn't go back to work. 40's - you're diabetic and insulin resistant so upped the metformin - higher and higher doses of insulin (long term and short acting as well as Liraglutide). Emergency removal of gallbladder, 4 days in ITU. Early 50's emergency admission to hospital December - February of 2023 - put on a DNR and my daughter told to prepare to say goodbye to me. COVID, flu, pneumonia, COPD, AF, basically very sick lady. By the time I left hospital I had got the Drs to reverse my DNR, worked really hard with therapists and left hospital fairly well and convalesced at home - took me 6 months but back to my pre hospital fitness but I did it. Beginning of October 2023 there is a nationwide (England) shortage of liraglutide and that family of drugs - basically been told tough just put up with it. Blood sugars are regularly 20 - 25 overnight and during the day - blurred vision, fatigue just feeling not well. Up popped one of your lectures on UA-cam - well what can I say. Started my fasting journey about 2 weeks ago - just 2 x days of OMAD initially and blood sugars are OK sitting about 9 on OMAD days but still about 15 on 3 meals a day - still really good from where I was - no blurred vision and although still tired - feeling better. This week I am doing 3 days of OMAD and 4 days of 3 meals a day - blood sugars on OMAD days average about 8, 3 meals a day they are sitting at about 10 - much much better. Next week will be 4 OMAD days until I reach 7 days - that's my goal anyway. I would like to do this with my Endocrinologist's support (I am getting blood work done next week) but not sure how to introduce the subject - do I just write to him and just give him your channel and say go watch ? Do I just wait until I see him in December and say - hey see what I've managed to do ? Any help or guidance you could give me would be greatly appreciated. So, so glad I found your channel, it really is changing my health. Not weighed yet as that's not a priority for me (although important) - I will weigh after 4 weeks and then every 4 weeks afterwards.

My ex has T2D and her doctor gives her insulin. I often wonder why her medication is increasing every visit to the doctor. She's a nurse and just follows the doctors instructions even though she is aware of her insulin resistance.

Had a lap band, had to have it out, complications. 3 small 1 cup size meals a day. 6 years of hell. Sick all the time. Nausea every second of the day. GERD so bad that a specialist told me I was going to get throat cancer if I didn't have it out. IF OMD. Losing weight. Bipolar, Fybromyalga, Thyroid problems so much better I'm enjoying life again. All these studies that say it's bad for you are paid by companies that produce food for excessive consumption. I wish I knew about Intermittent Fasting back in 2012 before I had the Laproscopic Band and had to have it out 2018. I cant believe I feel so good even with my mental and health issues. Thanks Dr Fung for improving my life. Keep spreading the science and message

I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t come across the 2 Keto Dudes podcast, which led me to Dr Fung, Dr Berg and others. What a relief to be told, with research and experience to back it up, that you don’t HAVE to have type 2 diabetes. That perhaps you can prevent horrific diseases like Alzheimers and cancer. These lectures and videos fill me with hope. Thank you thank you Dr Fung 🙏 🙏

As a kid, I found eating a chore. As an adult, I ate healthy but sparingly. Now I am learning that without knowing I was intermitting fasting. No wonder I have always maintained a healthy weight and body.

Jason once told us that a 7 or 8 year old kid told him when asked “ How would you do it to lose weight?” the kid replied “ just don’t eat!” And that’s when he realized that fasting is simply not eating!

I'm a 72 year old woman and not diabetic, but I was wondering what the daily macros should be when intermittent fasting? Right now I'm following 40-30-30 macros and 1100 calories a day. I'm also weight training. People think I'm in my fifties. I've just started fasting. 5pm-12pm
