Jeff Beck, is one of the most difficult guys to copy. The relationship he has with the instrument is visceral. Listening to him makes you realise he’s invented an entirely unique musical vocabulary.
Don Harrold I’ve been a huge fan of Jeff Beck when Rod Stewart was the singer in his band. Have you heard John McLaughlin’s guitar playing from the early 70’s when he had his band Mahavishnu Orchestra or John McLaughlin with Carlos Santana “Love Devotion Surender” album from 1973. His guitar playing is very similar to Jeff Beck’s guitar playing. My favorite Jeff Beck albums are Blow by Blow and Wired.
Rip Jeff. He played music till the end. Saw him in May at the Albert Hall. Thank God he left behind his sound. Nobody completely dies, something of them will always live with us.
You are quite correct, sir. Something he's developed more and more over the years is [what we would have called a shaker bar] his tremolo and volume control stuff that makes his already masterful guitar work quite unique. and he gets better (doesn't seem possible) and better as the years go by. Sadly, i've only seen him once, with Tim Bogart and Carmine Appice at the Civic in Akron.

I also appreciate Doyle being here .. with that lefty upside down guitar he brings the spirit of my other favorite guitarist , Mr Jimi 🙏🏾 Long live Clapton
This from from the debut Crossroads Guitar Festival. The Festival was filled with legends. But only Jeff was Godlike. And this performance filled the heart and soul of everyone in that football stadium. I remember knowing that at the time. All these years later it's power remains undiminished.
Absolutely. As a drummer myself, let's not forget the likes of Ginger Baker, Carmine Appice, Don Brewer, and Billy Cobham., These guys for me was the way to play a kit. And so I did.
All I can say is ME ALSO. I grew up in the 60's and I wouldn't change it if I could. Best of everything occurred during this era. Back when the only thing burning at a protest was someones Draft Card. I practically lived at the State Capitol. Ive seen everything from Ceasar Chavez to the Black Panther party rallies. It's not gonna ever be like that again. Sure we were maced, civil rights violations were rampant. Cal Expo was just finished being constructed. Making the old State fairgrounds the poorest neighborhood in the city and us poorer people could afford to live there. Of course minimum wage was 190 an hour. But a pound of burger was only 89 to 90 cents a pound and a loaf of bread was only 50 to 60 cents. Ahhhhhh the good old days when loving living with poor people like myself and there was a place called the Rib shack. Half a chicken all cooked up and ready to take home and eat right away. Ribs were 1.60 a pound cooked and ready to go. Half rack was just perfect for a one man dinner with rice or baked beans was a very good inexpensive dish just add some veggies and you had a full meal. Never in my wildest dreams is life ever gonna be like this ever again. A little added bonus to getting older.

One in a zillion! He's got everything a guitar player could dream of; tone, volume control, vibrato, speed & tricks when he wants, and can bring it down like no one else.
My favourite piece of guitar, all time, that cut. On Blow By Blow, Jeffie phoned producer George Martin one night and said "George, I've gotta go back in and overdub some parts..." George said "Jeff, sorry, but it's out in stores..."
And did you know that Beck had chucked the tapes away, he thought it was crap but George Martin rescued them and mixed them, the result was Blow By Blow.

I am overwhelmed by Jeff’s musicality. He makes that guitar SPEAK. First saw Jeff when he replaced Eric in the Yardbirds. Hated him for that but soon as he started playing, realised his playing was magic. Saw him many times in the 60’s. Was so lucky to see and hear such masterpieces. Jeff you will never be forgotten. RIP buddy. Se you up there.
It's so extraordinary how Jeff Beck manipulates the whammy bar and the volume knob on his guitar to create and change the sound on the musical notes of the guitar!!!! He's so damn melodic!!!!! He's also using his fingers!!!! NO guitar picks!!!! 😀😁😀😁😀😄. I will miss him!🥲 I heard he passed away today!!! I had the privilege of seeing Jeff perform live in 2019!!! RIP Jeff!!!! Your music will live on!!!! I will always cherish the music you played!!!! 🙂🙂🙂🥲🥲🥲🥲
Jeff Beck, is one of the most difficult guys to copy. The relationship he has with the instrument is visceral. Listening to him makes you realise he’s invented an entirely unique musical vocabulary.
Don Harrold
I’ve been a huge fan of Jeff Beck when Rod Stewart was the singer in his band.
There aren't any Jeff Beck cover bands.
Impossible
Got a language all his own. Taken from GOOD BYE PORK PIE HAT.
Nobody covers Jeff Beck
Rip Jeff. He played music till the end. Saw him in May at the Albert Hall. Thank God he left behind his sound. Nobody completely dies, something of them will always live with us.
His spirit will never die !!! 💔🎸🎶🥀🙏
impersonated but never duplicated. Jeff Beck is a true guitar legend. RIP...
Absolutely love this song. What a masterpiece of guitar playing. No words are needed to tell the story. RIP Jeff Beck.
RIP Jeff Beck...What a shock...Condolenses to your family, friends and fans...
There are good guitarists. There are great guitarists. And then there's Jeff Beck. Guy's simply on (from?!?) another planet.
but Beck does not have the same flow.
but Beck does not have the same flow.
Beck is far more versatile than Clapton
I was thinking.... trying to find words for my comment... but I am too drunk and tired. Then I came to your comment.
Your comment... it will do. That is what I want to say, at the core.
WONDERFUL LIFE OF A FANTASTIC GUITAR MAN.LES PAUL,ERIC CLAPTON ,WILLIE NELSON AND JEFF BECK CONTRIBUTION TO MUSIC IS A TREMENDOUS GIFT TO ALL OF US THAT HAVE ENJOYED THE SINGING GUITARS.REST IN PEACEFUL SLEEP, JEFF BECK. GOD BLESS HIS WIFE AND FAMILY DURING THEIR GRIEF AND ALSO TO HIS CLOSE FRIENDS.
Jeff Beck isn't dead , he will always stay alive in our hearts and souls forever !!!
Clapton rarely played raunchy solos like this one since the end of Cream. He clearly had a point to make after the wonderful Jeff's part. Two Greats at their best.
he was on fire here!!!!
I was thinking the same thing. Nice to hear Clapton turn loose here.
He sure did.
Was thinking EC jumped around & was actually moving as he was having to try to equal JB, which he cannot do!!
@Frankie Butler Clapton was not trying to equal Beck. He was playing in a contrasting style as a tribute to him.
Rest In Peace Jeff Beck one of my biggest inspirations to pick up the guitar 🎸. You will be missed 🎶
WOW! OMG!, WOW! Jeff pulled the best out of his old pal Eric too but then blew everyone away with the whammy, volume, pulling trill-notes out of nowhere....truly amazing and he was one of the best guitarist but THE BEST at how he did mastered his own art.... thank you Jeff and RIP...
i was lucky enough to be there;)
Jeff RIP you fabulous person.Blow by Blow album will always be etched in my consciousness.xxxx
Clapton and Beck are my two favorites and biggest influences on the guitar. I love the contrast here and just seeing them play together. So different but still part of a single thread.
We used to get so high to this album back in the 70's!
Seamless return from Doyle back to Jeff, really nicely done.
Wow, just wow!
He'll be truly missed.
Truly wonderful guitar mastery. I am SO damn proud to have lived through the sixties. Such a remarkable stable of gifted performers.
There will never be a time or genius like theirs again. I am so blessed to have lived and loved in their times.
Jeff was one of The most representative modern guitarrist with fusion all rithmies Rock progressive Blue music ever heard
He makes and each moment elastic and different soundies by your magic fingers sky skills mint imagination.
Great Jeff
Rest in peace!
The other player is good but when Jeff takes over man the tone is nuts!!! No one. No one ever sounded like him. No one even can imitate him
Beck was 1 of a kind. That said, 1 of others is Clapton, who is no slouch; & 3rd guy good, too..
My all time favorite Beck song. RIP Mr Beck.
Love it...and let's credit Stevie Wonder too
All this talk of being one of the greatest IMO he is the GREATEST GUITARIST EVER PERIOD. Miss you man RIP JEFF BECK
Rest in Peace Jeff. You’re a lengend
Jeff is the master, the first of the so called fusion players I heard of anyway and i was simply blown away by Blow By Blow. If you dont own it, your missing out.
Pure Genius , talent , and
Passion.......RIP MAESTRO !!
RIP Jeff you were the greatest
The Yardbirds were a experimental training ground for 3 of the best guitar players in history !
Beck and Page were teenagers together
This is the first song 🎵my brother turned me on to Jeff Beck!! We were 3yrs apart in the 70s!! I fell in 😍🥰💘. I miss that man. He passed away last year from Cancer!! My best friend ❤
Jeff brings the music into your soul. I can't explain it.
My son called and give me the news that Jeff had crossed over to the other side. Damn! Thanks for the memories Jeff! You are now jamming with other guitar greats....say hello to Jimi for me. RIP
Jeff Beck THANK YOU
Legends are born once in centuries, he was a legend. RIP Beck.
There are at least ten from his generation!
Beck is in a league of his own. Does that make him great!!!! Hell Yeah. He is amazing.
For sure 👍 no other player is like Jeff Beck 🎸🎶🎵
What a lovely performance. Jeff Beck is superb. His guitar speaks. Thank you for sharing beautiful music. 🙏
A true rock Titan. Jeff Beck 🙏🎶✨️
Unbelievable, brilliant Beck, makes the guitar do things nobody else knows how to. Hats off to Steve Gadd the most intuitive drummer I have ever seen, God bless you Eric.x
Just unbelievable, Beck puts me in awe, and Clapton really stepped up with such a bright sounding solo
2 of my favorite guitarists of all time! Beck is the innovator and Clapton is amazing at what he does! A real treat!
I’ve always said.....great musicians have reinforced my belief in God on many levels....they connect with the universe and maximize that Godly connection by allowing the spirit to flow through them!
Ohh... RIP Jeff Beck. 🙏 you will always be one of my favs. Thank you for playing your soul...
Probably THE most underrated guitar player ever. Love you Jeff.🙏♥️
"...the most underrated guitar player ever" was he?
Jeff Beck was nominated for *seventeen* Grammy awards, and won eight of them - ranging from 'Best Rock Instrumental Performance' in 1986, to 'Best Rock Instrumental Performance' in 2011.
Jeff is in a class all by himself !!....He re-invents the guitar every time he takes the stage !
He always does the same quirky shit...That is not reinvention !
Correct.
@@toobmaniac He's one of the best guitar players for sure and that's a fact.
@@Decimator-jh4gu
Absolutely not a fact , it's an opinion ..Jeff Beck quote : "theres a best guitar player in the world in every crowd "
Bloody brilliant just amazing the❤️ best 🍀😘😍🍀🇮🇪🍀🍀🍀💋💜
4 seconds of Beck's playing was all I could take. 4 seconds was all that my broken heart could take.
One in a zillion! He's got everything a guitar player could dream of; tone, volume control, vibrato, speed & tricks when he wants, and can bring it down like no one else.
Listen to the studio version on Blow by Blow.....It is one of the best recorded instrumentals of all time !
and it is still "timeless" !
joe shmoe Produced by the legendary late George Martin.
Alongside any instrumental in the world. Including classical symphony.
My favourite piece of guitar, all time, that cut.
On Blow By Blow, Jeffie phoned producer George Martin one night and said "George, I've gotta go back in and overdub some parts..."
George said "Jeff, sorry, but it's out in stores..."
And did you know that Beck had chucked the tapes away, he thought it was crap but George Martin rescued them and mixed them, the result was Blow By Blow.
no one makes the guitar sing like Jeff Beck, what a genius
Rest In Peace.
I love his guitar style…
Jeff Beck .
The most under appreciated guitarist.
His technique and technical skill is unrivalled.
He's the most expressive guitarist
His intimate experience with his guitar is so reflective of the unique sounds ONLY he can produce.
What on earth do you mean by "under appreciated"
@@davidwatkins204 Exactly what the expression means.
Under appreciated!= not valued .
He is a supreme technician and stylist of the electric guitar.
Jeff does not care for ego nor public attention, just his passionate expression and exploration of the limits of his Stratacaster.
@@kimbarling4213 well he's extremely appreciated and most highly valued, I don't get your meaning "under appreciated" everyone who takes notice of these things is aware of who he is and is aware of his body of work.
@@davidwatkins204
Your not interpreting my meaning as its directed at this exceptional talented guitarist.
You're harping in 2 words that are applicable to the mass imusically ignorant public.
Only fans ,enthusiasts and fellow guitarists would truly appreciate all of what Jeff Becks has offered in his talent & body of work & collaboration s.
@@kimbarling4213 yeah, Ok man, whatever.
And do not forget Nathan East on BASS equally as good as both of his colleagues
Wish they would have given Nate some solo time like Tal Wilkenfeld got on the Live At Ronnie Scott's video!
By far my favorite Jeff Beck song. RIP to one of the most ingenious musicians in my life.
Giving away one's gifts of Life to others, that's Love. R.I.P wonderful Jeff Beck. Your spirit remains with us in your music.
Stunner. It's not just all the notes and sounds that Jeff used, but the way he could play a song differently each time. He seemed to have an endless range and imagination. No wonder other musicians.couldn't keep up with him! What an immense talent to have lost. People were right when they said he doesn't just play music, he IS music. Eric and Doyle were no slouches here, either!
Give Jimi a couple minutes to puzzle out the whammy magic and Jeff would've trashed his guitar and bowed.
Jeff Beck passed away, and a big chunk of the music universe simultaneously imploded.
So unbelievably sad to think about this genius having left us but he really hasn't because for all of us that love him and his superb playing he will always be here! R.I.P great one .
I am a Eric Clapton Fan ,yes, but Jeff Beck is Wonderful . You can learn from him, your whole Life.
RIP Jeff Beck 💔 your spirit will never die 🎸😩🥀🙏
Any good soul doubting the merits of humanity can be completely cured of that in 6 minutes and 21 seconds.
Perfection as man's quest can never be reached. But you sure can come close to it.
The good of Humanity - while onstage.
Off-stage - Beck was a radical Leftist buttwipe and Clapton sues little old ladies with bootlegs to sell for a buck on Ebay.
There are many virtuoso of guitar, but very very few can touch your heart so deeply. Jeff is one of them.
The master of the electric guitar-Jeff Beck! I followed his beginnings with the Yardbirds in the 60's up until now! He is a legend.
Rest in Peace Jeff Beck , you will be missed ,but not forgotten by his family and many fans. was just listening to Jeff's collaboration with Ozzy when I heard the news
Anyone listening to This at any givin.. moment . I think we can all say ( as I breath deeply) He just takes you there.. every single time and as many times as you like!!
Thanking my friend JOHN T. Segretto.
RIP 🙏 Jeff Beck. My condolences to his family and friends. Jeff did everything his way.
It appeared he never craved the limelight. Was happy just to be around other musicians, helping them with their projects. He left us with a great legacy. RIP
