How do I replace the shock cords in the tent poles included with my Kelty Tanglewood 2? The rubber caps at the end of the poles don’t seem to want to come off ☹️
2 sections shorter? How can you pull the cord thru the last 2 sections if its that short? In the video, it looks like you cut it about half of the last section of pole.
Hi Mike, Thanks for your question. This is one way to do it but you do risk leaving yourself short of cord at the end as you suggest. Another way would be to cut the shock cord to the length of your entire pole and then shorten it once you have threaded it, applied tension and knotted. This way you can guarantee you will have enough cord without copious unnecessary threading. Good point well raised. Thanks for watching the channel. Sam
Hi Louise, Alpine Dan's method of cutting the cord shorter than the pole is risky in case you cut the cord too short. We recommend cutting the cord to the same length of the pole, applying tension, tying off and cutting excess. Hope this is not too late! Thanks, Sam @Blacks
If the elastic band breaks while camping and no repair kit available: Crush a small piece of (toilet) paper or leaves (something comparably soft) between the separate parts. They won’t slip while mounting the tent - and can easily be disassembled when moving to a new location.

because then you'd be like "why can't you just tell us how to re-cord our old tent poles so I don't have to buy new ones??!??!!!? AAAAAAAHHHHH!"
4:59 seconds of complete waste of time....
The music makes this unwatchable.
Downvote for wrong/misleading title. It says repair, what I wanted to do. Actually, it is a video about *replacing* the cord.
Rahul Sharma That's how you *repair* a tent pole.

RahulDoes You cant repair elastic. When its gone, its gone.
Thanks, I didn't think it would be this easy! The extra pole supplies weren't used, so now I have backups for later.
