I'm reminded of an episode of Yu-Gi-Oh Arc V. In one of the episodes, Yuya (the main character) faces against a guy named Edo. Towards the end of the duel, Yuya tries to grab an Action Card, but Edo makes him miss and gets the card instead. Edo uses it and is about to win the duel. Yuya is frantically running, looking for another Action Card. As he's running, he trips, but manages to turn the fall into a roll while simultaneously finding the Action Card he needs to win.

@@Begeru I was surprised to see that the Poison type and the advantages it brought to the table (Agility is super-effective, folks!) and access to Mega Drain and Confuse Ray outweighed the otherwise terrible movepool, mostly worse stats (even by a small margin) and the utter lack of a good STAB move (Pidgey at least had stab Double-Edge and Agility without Mimic). I mean, they are both terrible but still, I would have thought Zubat would do worse than Pidgey.
@@werisekk3 Going back to the Pidgey video, the main reason that Pidgey did worse was because it got absolutely stonewalled (icewalled?) at Lorelei, and needed to grind to Lv. 88 for that fight alone. Outside of that fight, Pidgey didn't really struggle nearly as much with the rest of the game (in part because so much level grinding was needed for Lorelei alone that the rest of the League was much easier). In contrast, while Zubat had some advantages against Lorelei, it definitely struggled a lot more with the rest of the game. So one could argue that Zubat is "worse" in some ways than Pidgey.
33:02 I'm actually pretty happy to see you reset, since I appreciate seeing whether or not the battle was a consistent win, which you've always said is the point of these runs; with average luck, what is the best consistent strategy, and how difficult are most battles going to be?

Amazing video as always. I indeed watched this in one go and had a blast. Really loved the Castlevania theme to it as well. Fantastic commentary too, the fast narration round was fun. I love how Surge is now down to cashier rank now. Can't wait for the next run! Keep it up Jrose!
I was originally going to say "the end of the Rival Fival fight was was probably my favorite thing in the video," and then.... the end of the Champion Fight happened. Would love to see an artists take of that final moment hahaha.
I just wanna say that I love Pokemon and I love watching my favorite UA-camrs play video games on UA-cam but I didn't think I would enjoy watching gen 1 solo runs until I found your channel. I've easily been binging all your runs. You are awesome man! I might have to catch you on twitch one of these days
Dude you are literally crazy, I honestly wasn’t sure if this was possible.. Props to you for doing this!
Edit and spoilers****:
After finally listening through the whole video… the fact you ended this run with HORN DRILL of all things… wow

"Assistant gift shop manager Surge"
This doesn't mean that Surge is the assistant manager to a gift shop, but rather that he manages an assistant gift shop. I guess it's where you go to buy a present for your assistant.
After this u clearly earned your self a starmie run 😂👌
Your first encounter with Agatha is the single most Zubat thing that has ever zubatted
Hey, look, it's Pidgey but worse. Can't wait to see how you handle this one!
Edit: the successful battle against the champ is the perfect example of "task failed successfully" meme
Megadrain and Poison AI abuse make it Pidgey but Slightly Better
It actually did better than Pidgey lol
@@Begeru I was surprised to see that the Poison type and the advantages it brought to the table (Agility is super-effective, folks!) and access to Mega Drain and Confuse Ray outweighed the otherwise terrible movepool, mostly worse stats (even by a small margin) and the utter lack of a good STAB move (Pidgey at least had stab Double-Edge and Agility without Mimic).
I mean, they are both terrible but still, I would have thought Zubat would do worse than Pidgey.
I knew zubat couldn't do worse. Gotta love gen 1 ai.

The rapid-fire commentary was amazing! I got so hyped up hahaha
33:02 I'm actually pretty happy to see you reset, since I appreciate seeing whether or not the battle was a consistent win, which you've always said is the point of these runs; with average luck, what is the best consistent strategy, and how difficult are most battles going to be?
Amazing color scheme again! Keep up the great work Jrose
Always great to see your vids :D
Can't wait for the scyther vs pinser rivalry to be settled 👌
Let's go team scyther :)
Keep up the great work 👌
Haa!
Of the two i'm a Scyther fan aswell.
😄👍
Oh man, that ending! lol, high drama. Great stuff Jrose, you did not disappoint when you promised something big.
Let's gooo. Jrose posting good content like usual. I'm wondering if mimic is the only way past Agatha lottery
the house always wins - the only way to beat the lottery is to be the lottery
If it's super high level, eventually Double Edge and Wing Attack will do the job.
@@randomname285 very true, I'm dumb thought your comment said something else lol
@@samperez1727 double edge being normal would not help against Agatha. She's very cheesy with her Gengar and especially the first one she sends out lol.
Honestly I can't stop watching these they are oddly addictive! Thanks for all the hard work!
Dang, this will be extremely tough. I can hardly wait.
Thanks for doing these. I find myself watching them all back again and again. Love it. Looking forward to catching your streams as well.
J, thank you so much for your constant uploads. between you and Scott, its been perfect
Loving the work JRose, especially the seamless transition of phasing out the Count Von Count jokes and phasing in the Surge can’t keep a rank jokes
That horn drill win had me dying of laughter!! Great video as always
After doing a Solo Run in Yellow with Weedle recently, those Rock Tunnel challenges felt all too real! Awesome run and looking forward to more!
Very happy to see the uploads have increased sir. Thank you for keeping me, along with several others I'm sure, entertained. Always happy to see a new Jrose video in my feed perfect thing to vibe to as I fall asleep after a LONG night at work. Thank you sir 🙏
Patience of a Saint! Really appreciate how you're churning the great content out. :)
Ah man it's 1:30am, but I need to know if Zubat can do it!
Almost 3AM for me lol
Little past three for me, but it's on me for finding it an hour late at this point lmao
Started it up 2:30 my time. I’m watching the whole thing.
The rapidfire commentary at the Agatha fight was one of the best parts of the video! Great work, another amazing video! :D
Oh good lord I can’t wait to see how this goes
You probably get a lot of these comments but thanks for keeping this series consistent. Going through a bit of a stressful time at work and somehow coming home and watching you struggle with these challenges makes me feel a little better about my own worries.
This was incredible to watch. I do wonder how much easier it might be as a Golbat.
I love these longer videos! Especially when it's a struggle every step of the way. Your pain Jrose is the best entertainment ever!
I thought the 4 mid-battle switches from the the first Agatha battle was wild, but that Horn Drill at the end was unbelievable
I love these videos, your commentary is so on point that I listen to the videos while I'm at work and I can follow exactly what is going on during your runs without ever seeing the screen. After watching your videos I was inspired to try these myself. I decided to randomly roll 1-151 to determine which pokemon I run, and for my 5th playthrough... I got Ditto... lol.
Had a kinda bleh day, just seeing this in my feed perked me right up. Thanks for creating so much content Jrose :^)
Don't you mean... Blah...? Sorry
@@Dan-bz2nh 🦇
Woke up this morning wishing I had another video to watch...thanks for knocking so many out so fast.
I literally just watched this whole series you have and was wondering when your next will come lol
Bro I’m heat for the whole ride. I have a season pass at this point. Thanks for the consistent top tier content. That last move was a beautiful way to end this mess of a run :)
Loving all the episodes of this lately!
I love these runs so much! This is by far the most surprising and I was invested so much
I'm so glad I caught this right away!
That was an epic conclusion! Your new rapid-fire release schedule makes me happy, thank you.
seeing this video is an hour and 10 mins long, I can already see where this is going
Thank you for a great video as always! Lance's overworld sprite really fits to this theme with that Dracula cape :D
I’d love to see you do a first gen run with a full team caught in game, just to see how you’d approach it after all this experience
I'm really happy to see Jrose putting even more effort in his videos - it's good to see him engaged with pokémon.
I'd love to see another BW challenge. I remember with Delibird you shared interest in the BW2 Challenge Mode. I would love to see an attempt on that. (Whether or not you use Zubat solo in that, that depends how masochistic you are lol)
I absolutely love ur vids man!!! ❤️❤️
Been subscribed for about 3-4 months and am always psyched when I see new Jrose in my feed. Keep it up man.
P.S.
For me the worst the Pokémon the better the video.
Oh man….honestly weird you didn’t get to this one before.
Zubat is kind a special Pokémon for me. It is one I found annoying from the beginning, but at this point it is kind of a fun Gen 1 Pokémon that fits in the same space as old commercials in my brain. I’m just happy when I remember it exists even if I don’t really care about it in a meaningful way.
I think this is the 3rd time I've watch this run. Just wanted to say I did enjoy that speed commentary. And it's always ridiculous when moves like that work when they shouldn't. Everything going against it and it still being what clutched it. Still enjoybrewatching these, so keep up the entertaining work and as always looking forward to the next.
I wonder what Surge's final rank will be after all the runs are complete?
Junior Assistant to the Intern Surge :)
Grocery bagger, he is now Bagger Surge.
@@die-Bienen-des-Dunkelheit As a cashier, Cashier < Bagger. I would be fucking sunk without my baggers.
I watched all the way to the end, just letting you know. I personally like longer videos, so thank you, this was a treat.
Trying this with Zubat is bound to drive anyone batty
Nice
airhorn😅
Just a comment to say it may take time to get through but there are plenty of us out here who will watch every video you post all the way through. Thank you for the great entertainment & the hard work you put in!
Oh my gosh that freaking horn drill. I do hope you keep having fun with these runs because I throughly enjoy them each time they come out
watch/listen while i fold laundry. So thanks for being more entertaining than folding pants
Im still waiting for EXEGUTTOR.
I was really afraid Surge would get promoted. Glad you made sure that wouldn't happen.
More like ZuBAD. I’m surprised that Zubat had some okay parts in the beginning, and it’s definitely nice to have Mega Drain at times where Pidgey really struggled (of course it doesn’t help that it came AFTER the hiker). Fantastic video yet again!
