Thanks man. I sure learned a lot. I’m going on GTB tomorrow and going to try these tricks!!! Keep up the good work brother
Awesome video!
Thank you :)
Great information Ethan. I plan to spend more time this year targeting Lake Trout in East Bay when the SMB bite is slow. Thanks for sharing this valuable information, I realize how much time and effort has went into determining this info! I am 2 years into figuring out SMB on East Bay and still dialing it in.
I appreciate that a lot Rob. We’ll have to get out and do a split day fishing for both. I’m sure I’ll see you around lots!
Beautiful explaining buddy!
Thank you very much!!
Trolling with leadcore is my go to tactic when I’m exploring a new area or looking for fish. Also helps figure out if there’s some more active fish higher up in the water. Once I find them it’s jigging time tho! I often wind up 3/4 to all the way to the surface then let it fall back down.
Awesome. I’ve never done much trolling but it’s definitely a good strategy to cover water!
Fine line between reeling a deep fish up too fast and playing a fish too long because of using too light of tackle and drag. Both cause fatalities after release and initial swim away. Also true of how you toss a fish back into the water (head first linker plunge or belly/side flop them). Sticking your fingers in the gills also has high mortality rates.
Agreed. We do our best to take good care of them.
Thanks for the comment and for watching!
That is the coolest thumbnail!
Thanks Peter! It was fun to make :)
also how do i play Raze on new lotus map? :P
What type of rod action/speed would you use for heavy tube jigs (2-4oz) up to 120' and why?
The same rod we used in the video works great for heavy tubes. MH or H Fast action Shimano Teramar in that 7’-7’6” range.
They load up really well with big fish so you don’t lose many from head shakes etc.. but they also have enough backbone to get them to the surface easily.
What's your rod and reel size ?
7’4” medium heavy with a 3000 size reel is preferred!
is that braid you're fishing with ? if not .what pound test ?thank, great video
Hi James! We do run braid as our mainline. 20 lb power pro or Suffix 832 tied into a 10-12 lb fluorocarbon leader with a double uni knot! Thanks for watching!
how do I take fish off hook? its kinda scary and I get nervous that I hurt fish in process, any tips 2 help out?
