    thats information Ive seen fishing and fish caught but here you learn how to fish how someone successful catches, useses his equipment and where and why. you learn more in 20 min than you will in a year on the water. As always thank you very much for quality content.

    Fantastic tutorial!! I'm going lake trout with my brother next weekend, but I'm not expert. I don't have a livescope, but I have the deeper sonar that might be able to see a trout follow my lure. Great tips, and great video!! 👍

    exactly what i teach my clients on our charters. sometimes the mood of our fish can vary and necessitate a really slow movement with the trolling motor…like .4 mph so the bait is just creeping along horizontal when they don’t want to chase.

    Here in NY on days that the fish wont commit, we actually do catch them pounding the mud. We also do that ice fishing. Turn off the sonar and just fish the bottom blindly.
    I remember when I first discovered the cadence, I caught 12 trout in a 30 minute span that my buddies in my group caught 0.
    Its not something that most anglers want to hear, but fishing bottom without sonar does definitely produce as long as you mix the cadence constantly and dont repeat motions.

    • @BendItFishing
      @BendItFishing  Рік тому

      Makes sense, it's what people have been doing for years. I also feel like Lakers can get weary around sonar noise.

    I’ve tried jigging for lake trout a couple times from a kayak with no luck. I don’t have any kind of sonar. Is it worthwhile to keep trying that or do I really need sonar to go for them when they are that deep?

    • @BendItFishing
      @BendItFishing  Рік тому +1

      I you can without a sonar but try this trick. Use a heavy lure pound it on bottom a few times then slowly reel it to the surface. What that is is starting a chase and you should get hit on the way up. Both Garmin and Deeper make cheap sonars that attach to you phone for like 130$ they are worth it

    • @TwoStageTrigger
      @TwoStageTrigger Рік тому

      You can catch them without sonar, but it makes finding them so easy.
      You don't need a 400-1200 sonar.
      You can get something like a garmin striker 4 for like $150 and set it up. (I used a pvc pipe to attach the transducer through a supper hole in the back) I fish from a lifetime kayak and my sonar let's me catch kokanee salmon. It can see fish as deep as 150 feet too.

    Great video!
    When I am jigging the bottom, I am of the mindset of a crawfish, not a bait fish. I agree that making long sweeping jigging motions aren't natural. But making small taps in the mud are more in tune to what a crawdad might do(in my mind). While I do catch a lot of fish doing the 'dump and chase', more fish seem to come from doing the 'mud cloud'. Obviously, there are a ton of variables and from day to day.
    Love jigging for Lakers and have zero interest in any other types of fishing (from a boat)
    Great channel! I just subbed.

      Love your comment there. At times when they require a more finesse way to be caught I def do light taps and 99% of the time I will get a hit, but man fishing June, July and then fall again. A baitcast reel is superior to a spinning reel for vertical jigging all sizes of lake trout. To take it one step further, a baitcast reel with a "flippin' switch"(FS) is the best. With the FS engaged you don't have to turn the reel handle to engage the reel from freespool, just let go of the thumb bar. This allows you to effectively drop down with one hand, a huge advantage if you are using a hand-held remote to control the bow mount trolling motor. When dropping with a spinning reel, the line comes off the reel in coils, much like a very elongated spring. Lines comes off a casting reel perfectly straight. Straight line is a direct connection to your jig. Lower the jig with the rod right at the water's surface, when the spool stops turning IMMEDIATELY engage the reel and set the hook. If it was bottom, no harm no foul. If it was a fish hitting on the way down, you got 'em. The line coils from a spinning reel gives the much more time to spit the lure.

    What technique would you suggest to someone who doesn't use a fish finder? I was planning on using navionics for the depht chart and try my best to find them but if I can't see anything like you are on your "I don't know how much K$$$" fish finder you use, what can I do? Thanks

    • @BendItFishing
      @BendItFishing  Рік тому +1

      I would find humps on navionics and cast off the top and let it hit bottom. Jig it vertical a few times and reel it to the surface and repeat
