    Nice catches, I’m heading up there next week and I really wanna get a laker, how deep were those fish? And were they on any sort of structure or anything like that?

      Thanks Kevin!
      I found these guys in 70-ish feet of water, which is around the thermocline depth in this lake (Cayuga). During summer I've found the greatest numbers of them around that depth in general, although it seems to vary a little day by day. They were on open flats.
      Good luck out there!

      @@rem_fishing thanks, I’m going to lake George which is close by so I’m hoping it’s the same situation there. So basically I should fish around flats that are around that depth?

    Nice lakers man! What brand jigheads do you use?

    • @rem_fishing
      @rem_fishing  Рік тому

      Thanks!! Here I'm using Cabela's 1 oz jig heads. Honestly they aren't the greatest bc they do tend to bend after a big fish. But its bc they are a fairly light wire which I think pierces through a Lakers bony mouth more easily since they're thinner diameter. They are super cheap too, so it's like if you bend one out, no big deal just tie on a fresh one.

    Any tips for getting into lake trout? I have a couple nearby lakes that have em, but not quite sure of the technique or where to find em. I catch the bows and browns all the time, but always miss on the lakers. Except for Spring when the ice melts I can find smaller ones shallower. Thanks and enjoyed the video!

    • @rem_fishing
      @rem_fishing  9 місяців тому

      A fish finder is fairly crucial. I'm actually posting a new video today and about half way through it I talk a bit more about the technique I like to use. I'd say check that out then let me know if you have any specific questions still. Happy to answer if I know!

    If anyone doesn't mind can you share the recipe you would recommend for throwing lake trout this size on a pellet grill. Gave it a shot with one I caught last weekend that was 26in and it turned out not bad but I'm curious what people would recommend.

    Hi man, new here to the kayak world and planning a trip to Lake Superior in August. Where did you launch from?

    • @rem_fishing
      @rem_fishing  Місяць тому

      This is in the Finger Lakes, which is somewhat near the Great Lakes, but I don't think my launch location would be terribly helpful for you. The technique may still work though. I hope you have a good trip and catch a ton!
      *EDIT - And congrats on the kayak!!

    Just rigged my first Buzzbomb (all the way from British Columbia). My 1st Fish Finder arrived also = Lowrance Hook Reveal 7 TS. Hope to jig up a Laker, Brown, Rainbow, Striper, Hybrid here in NE Tennessee. How fast do you go in your kayak while using your Lowrance ? Video i viewed today stated ya need to do 3mph or more for better clarity.

    I find the fish that are suspended are actively feeding.

    • @rem_fishing
      @rem_fishing  Рік тому

      I agree. They prefer the bottom so if they're expending energy to leave their comfort zone, chasing food would likely be the motivation.

    • @rem_fishing
      @rem_fishing  Рік тому +1

      @@rainbow-troutfisher9005 Sure you can use a medium power rod for a fish that size. Rod selection often has more to do with the lure you're using. Dial your drag in properly though! If you're targeting big browns from shore or wading, I'd go with a longer rod than what I use on the kayak. And obviously you can use something cheaper, I just like those. Hope that helps.
