Hello sir, I'm an owner of a r2000db system and just purchased the T5 subwoofer. As you know the r2000db's does not have the sw output.. On the T5 manual they write to connect via RCA s the audio source to the RCA input on SW and then from the output to the speakers input.by the way on the edifiers site,in the FAQ section I found an another solution, use of 2 RCA Y splitters. What is the difference?
Any edifier speaker with a sub out has a low pass filter, it doesnt play that lower frequency anymore when you plug a sub in according to the set crossover point. If you use a y-splitter and all that on an edifier speaker that doesnt have a sub out, the speaker will continue to play down till its lowest frequency, making it sound muddy.
@@AbsoluteFidelity i connected it as written on the subwoofer's manual: from the audio source to the RCA input and the from the sub output to the speaker's input,it seems to work pretty fine
That would entirely depend on your turntable. If your turntable has a pre Amp then another one isn't necessary. If your turntable doesn't have one, then you would need a standalone pre Amp.
Hi Sir, Are you using the sub-out cable between the speakers and the subwoofer ? The Y cable ? I have the R1280DBs, using sub-out it seems when connect the bass decreases into almost nothing and all the bass is in the sub-woofer, unlike your video where we can see the bass on both speakers and the subwoofer, what am I doing wrong ? or is this expected ?
I just bought S2000MKIII. It doesn't have a sub out. You can't hook it directly. My initial research tells me that you need to buy other equipment (Pre-amp that can split signal to speaker and sub) to use with a sub. You will need to look at other models if you want to easily add a sub. Like for Edifier models such as1280DBs and R1700BTs, the "s" should mean it has sub out. Don't get the wrong model.
Hi DS.audio. i wanted to ask you something i have r1855db and t5 sub, when i turn off the speaker by its remote control there is loud "pop" sound from the t5 sub. Is it normal or my sub is faulty? Please kindly answer the question
Great vdo as usual! I see the T5 subwoofer costs another whooping 150 bucks. Is it worth investing this money? How much would that create a difference to the actual experience?
Bought the R1700bts because I wanted the T5 to be a part of the setup. And it's such an improvement to the experience. Mostly cause it lets the R1700BTs relax and not worry about hitting the deeper bass notes, it can focus on the mids and higher mids giving it more clarity. Would say the T5 really adds life to the music you listen to or movie!
Is there a sense to buy the subwoofer T5? Currently Have Edifier R1700 but additional bass would be perfect. Price is cheap and it cost around 150$ for now.
R1700BTs seems more to Low and Hi frequency instead of Mid frequency been minimally delivered. R1280DBs deliver Flat range of the Low and Mid frequency instead of Hi frequency been minimally delivered. For me, these 2 model is quite equal to T5 but for me who love to watch action sci fi movies and also with Jazz or electronic music, i rather choose R1700BTs because it seems can deliver like crystal clean sound from the Lo + Hi frequency that equally to make the Mid frequency in the middle range..
Regradless how it sounds in this vid, the 1700 is superior in every way. In real life, the 1280 sounds thin and rolls off at the higher end of the spectrum much earlier than the 1700. 1700 has so much more headroom too.
3 роки тому+2
That's probably the R1280DB, which is the regular version without the sub-out and some lacking specs, also the older one. R1280T and the newer R1280DBs sounds better and goes deeper, in real life even the 1280T which is a cheaper and more simple version, goes deeper than the 1280DB, this channel also has that comparison. But the newer R1280DBs has probably a different DSP or something, they can go down to 51 Hz and sound is rich unlike the regular DB ones (55 Hz says Edifier web page). Btw strangely the 1700BT also sounds richer than the 1700BTs version. Most likely a DSP issue like I said, since they have sub-outs, things get complicated there.
@ R1280T, R1280DB, R1280DBS, they do have a slight variation among them but none of them come close to the 1700, 1850 and 1855. All 1280s sound rolled off compared to its bigger brothers and will distort way quicker at same higher volumes. Headroom difference is huge, you just have to listen to it in real life. Just bought the 1855 after listening to the 1280 (DB and DBS), 1700 (BT and BTS), 1850, 1855 and 2000 side by side. Anyone that says there is no difference between the 1700 and 1855 or 1850 and 1855 have not truly heard them in real life. I wanted a speaker with sub out, so I tested all the speakers above and threw in the R2000DB just for fun. The 1855 was clearly the winner, and it sounded even better to my ears when compared to the R2000DB, besides the bass. That wasnt a problem as I intend to add a sub to it. Now Im waiting for my sub to arrive, but the 1855 is doing a pretty good job of covering my 6 x 7 meters living room.

@@AbsoluteFidelity R1855DB also does not exist here, we have R1850DB but damn it it's 280 USD here. We have some serious tax issues when it comes to imported electronics, that makes the so-called budget products like the Edifier speakers hugely expensive here :( Even the R1280DBs is 210 USD here but they are slightly cheaper compared to their brothers. 70 USD seems a tiny price difference but that's not, because 1 USD equals to 8 Turkish Liras which is our currency unit. I mean u get the point :D I'm planning to add a sub later, that's why I want 1280DBs, at least they should be better than my 10 year old Logitech X230 :D
@ if adding an sub is in your future plans, go for the best speaker you can afford, which is the 1280DBs. Just dont get the T5, its a below avergae souding sub when I went to hear it. And the dealer told me at higher volumes the t5 has a rattling sound coming from the center cone. Save up and get a better sub like the Elac, polk or klipsch. I bought the Elac after listening to all, it was just way cleaner and musical. Any of the above is fine, just try to stay away from the T5. Any edifier speaker with a good sub will sound better than any logitech, even the z623, z625, z906, z2300 and z5500. Logitech is all about loud bass (not deep, they are crazy boosted at 60hz to give an impression that they are stronger than they are) and non existant mids and highs.
3 роки тому
@@AbsoluteFidelity Yep, that's why I wanna buy a new speaker set, the highs and the mids are not enough and the bass is there but like you said, boomy and too much. Also that bass is unusable at nights because u can't turn it all the way down, also makes the whole system unusable because of that bass, if you lower the volume that basically makes it inaudible. I was looking for the Elac Sub1010 after I heard T5 has an aggressive auto turn-off feature and u can't switch that off. But then again, Elac is ridiculously expensive here, strangely though u can buy an SVS sub for it's price here :D So, I'm thinking about an SVS PB-1000 which is a very high-end powerful sub-woofer as u know.
@@DSAUDIOreview what sub would you recommend me getting with my R1855DBs besides the T5? Within £200 budget. Been thinking Dayton Sub 1000 or Mackie CR8S
@@SaxeLAD I've had a Dayton Audio Sub 1000 for a while now and just got the R1700BTs speakers. I am in a very small space and unfortunately I'm unable to reference R1855DBs speakers. That said, I like the combo that I have. Some info (if you're interested): If I'm correct in assuming that a flat sound means barely any bass, then The Sub 1000 has more than enough output for the R1700BTs. Tuning for a bass-boosted sound, the Sub 1000 does well when matching it with the R1700BTs at max volume. If you want the bass to be significantly louder than the rest of the frequency range, I personally think that the Sub 1000 would be at its limit or not strong enough to match the R1700BTs at max volume. If my tools are accurate (I measured roughly 4ft away from it), it can do 80/60hz at just below 105 dB. It rolls off though. 40hz goes down to 90 dB with 30hz being lower than that. Trying to go louder with 80/60hz sine waves causes a strange effect that I'm not fully sure how to describe. It's like it hangs up then pulses instead of correctly replicating the sine wave.
The timing of the bass sounds out with both speakers using the sub. Like the bass is lazy and half a step behind the rest of the music. It's really apparent with "The making of Thumbs Up".
Hello. Thank you for your spectacular video. I want to ask you how it is possible to connect the edifier R1280dbs to this subwoofer??. I just bought them and I'm thinking about adding the subwoofer. From before Best regards from Chile 🇨🇱
R1855DB for sure. The 1280 is just thin and doesnt get as loud as the 1855. And the 1855 has a wider soundstage than the 1700, without the harsh treble of the 1700. 1855 is the best choice here.

Hi, how do I connect my Yamaha 8 inch (NS-SW050BL)
To my edifier R1280dbs?
How does t5 sub perform low frequency and bass? Does it shake small room? Does it worth to buy? Any alternative at same budget?
those t5 subwoofer is compatible to the other device or sound bar?
Hi DS.audio. i wanted to ask you something i have r1855db and t5 sub, when i turn off the speaker by its remote control there is loud "pop" sound from the t5 sub. Is it normal or my sub is faulty? Please kindly answer the question
Подскажите пожалуйста, в паре с Edifier r1280dbs до скольки саб порезали? На сколько часов крутилку крутили

hola, puede ser que el Edifier r1280 dbs tenga un sonido mas profundo?
Great vdo as usual! I see the T5 subwoofer costs another whooping 150 bucks. Is it worth investing this money? How much would that create a difference to the actual experience?
Bought the R1700bts because I wanted the T5 to be a part of the setup. And it's such an improvement to the experience. Mostly cause it lets the R1700BTs relax and not worry about hitting the deeper bass notes, it can focus on the mids and higher mids giving it more clarity.
Would say the T5 really adds life to the music you listen to or movie!
@@dale_andre1221is that so

Is there a sense to buy the subwoofer T5? Currently Have Edifier R1700 but additional bass would be perfect. Price is cheap and it cost around 150$ for now.
jak masz tam wyjscie na suba to wg mnie warto. Ja dokupiłem tego suba do r1280dbs.
R1700BTs seems more to Low and Hi frequency instead of Mid frequency been minimally delivered.
R1280DBs deliver Flat range of the Low and Mid frequency instead of Hi frequency been minimally delivered.
For me, these 2 model is quite equal to T5 but for me who love to watch action sci fi movies and also with Jazz or electronic music, i rather choose R1700BTs because it seems can deliver like crystal clean sound from the Lo + Hi frequency that equally to make the Mid frequency in the middle range..
which amplifier you used to connect T5 sub with 1280Db? I have 1280DB and wants to buy this sub but don't know which Amp would be best.
T5 is a powered sub, it doesn't need any external amplifier. It has it's own.
are they better than S351db?
Can't tell from the video but how deep does the t5 sub go?
R1280DBS + T5 🤩❤

Regradless how it sounds in this vid, the 1700 is superior in every way. In real life, the 1280 sounds thin and rolls off at the higher end of the spectrum much earlier than the 1700. 1700 has so much more headroom too.
Which is better for rock music
Which set in Your opinion is better?
Is autosleep on T5 too aggressive? I've heard they turn off often
Yes, it is quite annoying
@@DSAUDIOreview what sub would you recommend me getting with my R1855DBs besides the T5? Within £200 budget. Been thinking Dayton Sub 1000 or Mackie CR8S
@@SaxeLAD I've heard the Polk PSW10E is good.
@@SaxeLAD I've had a Dayton Audio Sub 1000 for a while now and just got the R1700BTs speakers. I am in a very small space and unfortunately I'm unable to reference R1855DBs speakers. That said, I like the combo that I have.
Some info (if you're interested):
If I'm correct in assuming that a flat sound means barely any bass, then The Sub 1000 has more than enough output for the R1700BTs.
@@luchvk Thanks!
U recommend adding a t5 to some krk 5 inches?
Nope. Look for something better if you want it to match the sound quality of your KRK monitors
Can you please show how to hook up the 1280DB to a Sub?
It needs to be the DBs. Those have a sub-out port.
what do DB, DBs, BT etc stand for
DB - digital inputs (coax, optical, bluetooth), DBs - same plus sub out, BT - Bluetooth only
Can you actually hear the cut of frecuency when you plug the sub??
on r1280dbs, yes
How did you connect the t5 to the 1280? Planning to buy a T5 hehe

how to conbine r1700bt and T5 subwoofer
how can i connect T5 with my 1280DB?
The timing of the bass sounds out with both speakers using the sub. Like the bass is lazy and half a step behind the rest of the music. It's really apparent with "The making of Thumbs Up".
what is your setup on these ? how do u connect the sub and the R1280DBs / R100BTs? and how to connect DAC / AMP / Receiver to these speakers
They are active speakers.
You can not connect them to an Amp.
They have their own Amp inside.
where the best position in T5 (bass volume & Freq), and where in r1280dbs (treble & bass) please....thx

r1700bt is better, a lot of bass and good souns performance. and dont need subwoofer.

for small parties at home with electronic music, pop and hip hop, which is the best? r1280bts, r1700bts or r1855? I have a sub pioneer 8 inchs
R1855DB for sure. The 1280 is just thin and doesnt get as loud as the 1855. And the 1855 has a wider soundstage than the 1700, without the harsh treble of the 1700. 1855 is the best choice here.

Edifiers are too expensive in the US. In China, r1700bt is less than $70 and r1280 is only $40.
Import taxes

Damn it, I'm planning to buy a pair of 1280DBs soon but T5 doesn't exist here in my country, I don't know why, the closest budget sub-woofer for this set-up which I can find is only the Sony Sa-CS9 which is a 10 inch 70 watt rms sub-woofer and I have no idea how it sounds...Oh and also the Sub itself is almost twice as big compared to the T5. Well, it's Sony after all, but just like the other companies they stopped making good ''Japanese'' products, they are practically Chinese now. If anyone here uses that sub, please let me know.
R1280DBs...
Both speakers are way undersized to be used with a subwoofer. At this price point, they sound better standalone.
Not with a good budget sub. Any speaker will benefit from a sub unless it can already play down to 20hz.
