Now I will have to verify if I have the right understanding of my mistakes :P Hopefully I will soon be able to finish my friend's SIG 550 furniture!

      You should make your own activator mate. It's just xylene and thinner. 70/30 mix. People are making this and calling it activator. placing it in blank jugs and putting their own label and a 50 dollar price tag on it. Notice that none of them put the ingredients on the jug? Xylene 12 bucks. Thinner 7 bucks

I would really love to make something special for my beautiful granddaughter & I know she would love to have a go too! I want to thank you for your very informative videos my friend & I truly hope I can get up & running without too many issues etc? Wish you lived by me,as I'd be picking your very knowledgeable brain constantly! Lol. • @AllThingsFunHydrographics
      @AllThingsFunHydrographics  4 роки тому

      Price depends on what film you buy and where you buy it from. I always order a minimum of 3 meters for all projects so I know I have enough for re-dos if needed. 90-92 degrees at the surface of the water... we just did a video on water temps if you want to check it out.

    So I have a question if you could help. I print my own designs on hydro film. And alot of the time the picture spreads too much and doesn't come back to original size when in water and after adding activator. Also is their a way I have to prep what I'm dipping. For example I'm trying to make my own design on my ps5 controller but when I dip the color sometimes slides off like it's running and not sticking to the surface it especially comes off when I'm trying to rinse off what's left over of the film. Please help I hate wasting so much time and money. Thank you

      Thats easy.. lick your finger and stick it on the film... which ever side sticks to your finger, thats the side that goes on the water. I know it sounds crazy but it is the easiest method and I do it every time I cut a piece of film. Just becomes habit after a while.

    I’m having issues where my film is wrinkling, not when placed or activated but around the item I am dipping during the dip, then drying with raised creases or ripples on the item. Any idea what is causing this or how to fix it?

    • @AllThingsFunHydrographics
      @AllThingsFunHydrographics  3 роки тому +1

      If the film in wrinkling as your dipping then you either have bad film or you are not activated enough. Film can go bad if it is not stored properly. It needs 40-50% humidity and 70 degrees.

    I got questions first let me say this was so helpful a cd I know I'm all late but 1st question do you need to use activator if you are just working spray paint not the film and other question is in working with tumblers and would like to know how to cover the whole cup in 1 take. Thank you in advance

      I am not familiar with the spray paint method very much but I do know they don't use activator.

    • @addie7846
      @addie7846 3 роки тому

      No you don't need activator. Just oil based paints. Just do the whole cup in one take.

    • @kaywoodparsons1874
      @kaywoodparsons1874 3 роки тому

    Hi! Great series of tips! I have a question: can hydrodipping be done on a textured surface? I have a plastic engine cover I'd like to do, but it has a textured finish that would be difficult to sand smooth.

    • @shawnbillingsley1688
      @shawnbillingsley1688 Рік тому

      The texture will mute the detail of the film. It will work but look “fuzzy”

    I am new to hydro dipping can I use just spray paint and a tub and spray my paint in the water then just dip it or do I have to use a activator. If it just spray paint.

    • @AllThingsFunHydrographics
      @AllThingsFunHydrographics  3 роки тому

      I do not do the spray paint dipping so I am not an expert in that area. I know that the people who use the spray paint do not use activator they just spray the paint on top of the water.

    Hey I would like to be able to print out my own designs to make my own dips? do you have a video with what paper and how to print on it?

    • @AllThingsFunHydrographics
      @AllThingsFunHydrographics  4 роки тому

      I do not make films, I buy them from companies already printed. Good luck finding out how to do it yourself, from what I hear it is insanely expensive and the companies that print it do not give up the info on how they do it. Not worth the headache or expense in my opinion.

      Scuff, paint, dip. It will be fine but it has to be painted so it will cover your epoxy. The dip wont stick without paint.
