Lmaooo, "super easy", you just need a giant dipping tank, spray booth, air compressor and spray gun. Oh don't forget the chemical mask.😁 awesome pattern though..
Correct. Been there. Tried it. Not as easy as it looks. I could have used cheap materials? Everything looked like ass. Materials came from liquid concepts. I purchased digital thermometer for water temp at wal mart.
5:45 i've been painting things like this for a while and I'm sure you find it easy - you're skilled at this and clearly done it. but i've learned over the years this is not as easy as you make it look. like any artists, it comes a lot more natural through practice but you have far molre skill than most. ppl shouldn't expect to be able to even do the splotching part this well. not even close.
I was able to follow your tutorial at home and did this pattern on one of my AR-9s. Everyone loves the look! I wish I could post a pic of it. I did all the prep, paint, and hydro dip at home. It was a fun project!!! Thank you for this video.
Hey this looks ahsome,. I have a Ruger synthetic stock in drab olive green. I would like this for the back ground color. Do I still need primer or just clean it well
When he said, "Now I'm gonna go ahead and spray my activator." I had a flashback to the days of the Jerry Curl. Glad to see it was just something used within the world of hydro-dipping. LOL
Looks great - thinking of doing my spare set of Accuracy International chassis skins. Genuine question though, do you not need to wear a respirator for the activator? I thought it was pretty toxic, and there's a whole mist of it you're standing in at about 08:38.
Super video! May have to do this on a demo stock and hang it in the office. You really made this look fun and easy. It was good to get a close up and explanation to your ghost seam. This will change things in our shop. My boss is old school and hates the visible seam.
I only mix up enough clear coat to do each project. A gallon goes a long way when mixed properly and they come with instructions for mixing on the side of the can. activators do not get mixed, just pour in your gun and spray.

that turned out insane! ngl I was more than a little skeptical at first, I was quick to say why that "black marble" ? overkill pffft... man was I wrong that absolutely was what tied everything together! you have a subscriber, and I saved the video for when I'm ready to do mine. thank you
You can, but just because you can does not mean it will work the greatest. Not all patterns and films will do very good with spray can activators. I always suggest a spray gun over spray cans for repeatable consistent results.
I seen that look in your eyes in the bloopers. I know you wanted to throw something in the paint booth lol. Get you a teleprompter lol. The pew pew came out great.
I do not do RC bodies because they are a pain in the butt, and some idiot on UA-cam has convinced everyone that they have to be dipped from the inside... which is incorrect.
So I've done a lot of hydra dipping spray can stuff so to get that pattern basically I would mix black and clear for some cool looking stripes I'll be honest there's no way I would pay someone to make my gun cheaper so I might as well take a dump on it and spray paint over the dump it's still camo and I didn't have to pay you
How do you get the gear mechanism and motor out the handle grip? I basically stripped my whole airsoft rifle, but couldn't find out how to get them pieces out.
Help, I painted one of my ARs like your's with OHW paint and when I dipped it in the Black marble and went to rinse it, the black just washed off. not sure what is going one. I had the water set at about 92 degrees sprayed activator like I always have. Any ideas? I know its not much info but any help would be appreciated.
Hooked on your channel as I want to do this to my airspft rifle. Question, I want to do a camo, gun mostly candy red and then camo sponges of white and black. How would you do this? Base coat silver as i learned in your candy red video... but what would be next? 2 coats the candy red? what about adding the white and black camo spots Then I would finish with hydro dip and then semi gloss? Thanks bro keep up the awsome vids Just noticed you did candy red at end... sounds like my idea isn't doable... I woukdnjust do red base and white and black camo like this then probably do gloss finisher
In your business, you dip so many different pews, each of which must be disassembled down to its component parts. I am familiar with my own pews, but where do you learn/refresh your memory on breaking down evverryyy make and model? Is there an online resource? Or have you simply taken prior exp and built on it over the years?
That looks badass great job and u make it sound so easy lol it would take me 3 or 4 times to get it right and it probably still wouldn't be right lol u do dam good work thanks for sharing and keep on dipping the freedom machines
All Things Fun Hydrographics I never heard of this stuff. I stumbled across this by chance. About the FILM. It appears that the FILM dissolves, did I get that right? If so, then every time you dip, you need new film, right?
I watched a show on Netflix called making fun and these guys were creating a tennis shoe car and they sprayed spray paint on the surface of a kiddie pool and then they took sheets of vinyl and dip them into the pool and it came out with these amazing hydro dipped paint jobs. I'm wondering if that can be done with an AR-15 and if I would have to use automotive paint or if I could just use regular spray paint? I understand I'll probably need to spray a primer down on the gun with a spray paint primer and then hopefully from that point I can put a bunch of random colors on the surface of the water wait for a few minutes and then lay the rifle all important parts removed of course down into the pool pull it up and hang it
I get that you're a hydrodipping channel, but I feel like the dip was completely unnecessary in this case hahaha. You could have gotten a very similar outcome if you just used the sponge for the black paint as well
Have a question. I understand how and why you only dip one side of a gun at a time, makes sense....until....I watch other and see them dip the entire thing and both side get done and come out excellent.....so why the extra work dipping and tapping twice?
Where do you get your films. And how does the paint you use with clear coat compare to cerekote. Also, your bloopers makes me feel less crazy. Making things never goes how it does in my head. All these videos of makers make it look perfect when in reality it looks like this

You still need to paint it or else the dip will not stick. OHW has an bunch of colors similar to olive.

I wouldn't exactly call his setup "DIY" 😂. He's probably got over $10K worth of hydrodip equipment.

Does the hydro dipping fade or peel, when cleaning your riffle with foul out or break cleaner?
How does it hold up to the heat of the gun after two or three fast 30rnd mag dumps? How much does it cost? Looks killer! Nice job.
I'm assuming the hydro covers in the clear sections too? How well does the hydro hold up to abuse?
If i dipp some things should i put lack after? Thanks
