    "Dragons, skulls, flames."
    Only reason why I'm kinda iffy on hydro dipping. All the film's you can buy are all kinda the same. Don't get me wrong, if you like that kinda stuff, have at it. This just makes me wanna look into printing my own films if I had the money. Haha

    • @Jimmy2Tech
      @Jimmy2Tech  6 років тому +4

      Sorry for the late reply, been working a lot of hours! You should take a little deeper look at films, because there are many more then the typical flames and skulls. It really depends on what you are looking for. Personally a lot of the time for test dip purposes we use flames or skulls because you can usually find the film cheaper and at a plethora of places. We prefer dips with flags, colored carbon fibered looks, and camo patterns more particularly. So try not to let the skulls discourage you, because there are many other choices with a little searching. Regarding to making your own film patterns, my father and I both wish we had the means to make our own, maybe sometime in the near future? Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. :)

    You moved one side faster than the other. That's why the dragons came out spaced weird. Also, the tape is to keep it from spreading out. It doesn't act as a float.

    Good DIY video but one one major thing you guys failed to mention is that this process only works on Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) plastics. If you follow this same process on a parts made of polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PET), or Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) plastics, I can guarantee that the person following the process will have problems. The reason the process will not work on the other plastics is because every plastic except ABS needs to be "FLAME TREATED" to "out-gas" the release agents stuck in the plastics during the molding process. You need to identify the type of plastic you are working on First. All molded plastics have one identifiers mentioned above on the backside of the part. If you follow the instructions in this video and you are working with anything but ABS, you will get lifting during the painting process, separation during the dipping process and lifting at some point after the process......guaranteed! If you don't know what type of plastic you have "flame treat" the part to be safe.

      Does you replying to Hemaang make you a "free speech nut". Exercising a right does not make one a "nut". Mindlessly dropping SJW passive aggressive judgements about someone you know nothing about is a whole lot nuttier than wearing a t-shirt. Try questioning your programming, free thought is amazing and fun. Give it a chance.

    where can I find films? I love the Kryptek Highlander and the only size I can find is 18" x 6.6'?

    • @Jimmy2Tech
      @Jimmy2Tech  6 років тому +1

      Thank you so much! Hope it was helpful to you. Films can be found on ebay and a bunch of other places. Finding the size you need may be the challenge. I found the pattern you said on ebay with dimensions of 18" x 6.6'. Film usually comes in a larger roll like that, but if you're looking for something wider to do a bigger object for example you may have to search more, if you don't come up with any luck, feel free to DM me on my facebook page and I'll be more than happy to help you out the best I can! Thanks for watching, be sure to like, comment and subscribe.
