Thank you so much! I was getting frustrated over deleting EFI and recovery partitions off an old HDD (upgraded my laptop to SSD). This video helped me a lot!
To everyone out there, this is the video you’ve been looking for. A simple “clean” in cmd wipes the whole USB along with all it’s problems (including those irremovable write protections). Can’t believe these other UA-camrs have wasted so much time beating around the bush with their 10 minutes “solutions”, when in reality this takes less than a minute. Thank you sir.
Just what I needed friend, I just updates my son and daughters laptop to SSD. I was able to salvage a TB of storage for my video editing system thanks to you! SUBED.
Thank you so much. I have been fighting to remove the partitions from a disk for a while, including various partition programs without success. You fixed it for me.
Thanks Mike, actually really thanks, I literally just got a new/old laptop today with 3 partitions on the storage HDD that wouldn't go away, googled what to do and there you were, literally yesterday, its almost like you knew!!
Red Acted Thanks for the feedback! Please consider sharing the video and information on your social media, it really helps to get the message out there.
Thanks for this video - fixed an EFI error I had on my Samsung T7 which was previously used as a win boot drive on Mac that I was reformatting to use as a media drive on my Xbox Series S console. The Xbox would keep throwing the 0x80bd003c error when being selected as the capture point deepite being formatted correctly as NTFS. This solved it - awesome - Thankyou Mike!
Brilliant, hats off to you sir. That begs the question why does disk management in command prompt have this incredibly basic function but it doesn't in ACTUAL disk management -_-
from yesterday i am locking for my hard disk solution your video is the last one I decided if there is no solution i will loss my all hope but you saved my 1tb hard disk thank you so much from bottom of my heart
thanks for the info! other videos wanted to point me towards a 3rd party disk management software package... i knew this couldn't possibly be necessary. much appreciated! thumbs up!
Wow, thanks man! I'm intimidated every time a YT video has "open up the command prompt window" involved in the instructions, as I'm 99.9% sure I'm going to cause my laptop to blow up or something. But, your instructions worked perfectly! Much appreciated!
Fantastic, I forgot this simple method from years ago. Open command prompt as an Administrator, easiest way typically is by pressing Windows key and typing in "CMD" and hold down CTRL and Shift while you hit Enter Type "diskpart" then hit Enter Type "list disk" and hit Enter Note which disk is the target Type "select disk #" and hit Enter, # is the number of the disk you found from list disk, make sure it's not your C drive. Type "clean" and hit Enter. It should show that it was successfully cleaned and now you may proceed with using the disk how you see fit.
OMFG! I was searching on google from 2 freaking days and considered buying some 3rd party tool but then i found this vid and it is so helpful! Thank you so much!
thanks Mike-- after formatting my 450Gig SSD this way-- I still don't see the SSD on my PC list of SSD drives, I thought after formatting is ready to use.

Nimrod Quimbus Thanks for the feedback! Please consider sharing the video and information on your social media, it really helps to get the message out there.
@Nimrod Actually you can achieve the same result in Disk Management by simply rightclicking the allocated partitions and delete. If you have many partitions, you can do it all at once with CMD.
Thanks! I just installed memtest86 on my usb drive which has an EFI partition that I can't delete now that I want to use the drive for another purpose.
Thanks Mike, I have a flash drive for Memtest86 that I use for BIOS updates as well, this really helped. Really nice manner on your delivery of this video, cheers.

It is a file system register type of thing so when the pc boots from it it looks at that part of the drive so it knows which sections contain things like the OS and data or recovery partitions
LORD GENESIS Thanks for the feedback! Please consider sharing the video and information on your social media, it really helps to get the message out there.
thank you!! previously I take out the internal hardisk and use it as external hardisk, and found in the disk management that there's a lot of unnecessariy partition (at least for me) such as EFI and recovery.. I keep searching with all kind of keywords on search engine about how to erase those and make this like the default external hardisk, yet come up with nothing. And try youtube, stumbling on your video, and viola, my problem's solved!! much appreciated!! :D
not sure if it only applies to hard drives or flash drives as well, but I just finished recovering data from a mac formatted external hard drive that was listed under disk manager but windows wouldn't give it a letter or open it at all, and after performing the "clean" command to also get rid of a residual EFI partition that it had I also had to select "power up this drive" or something like that as well as select between MBR or GPT on the right click menu of the full unallocated space where you just selected to create a new partition. i'm assuming it's because it was a big 2TB external hard drive and this probably doesn't apply to small flash drives, as it didn't on the video

Healthy (efi system partition) is displaying on "This PC" and it can't be deleted, is there a way to hide it?
is it on the main drive or a secondary one? maybe look at this if it is the latter ua-cam.com/video/Tnbbjql0V30/v-deo.html
