How to Delete the Undeletable using Diskpart (Disk Partition) in Windows 10
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- In this video, I show you how to use a built-in Windows utility called Diskpart to delete protected partitions on a hard disk - partitions that cannot be deleted from Windows' own Disk Management utility. I use Windows 10 in this video, but Diskpart has been available in previous versions as well. If you have multiple disks in your computer, make absolutely certain that you select the correct disk before you start deleting partitions!
If you simply want to clear the entire disk at once (including the partition style of GPT/MBR), you can use the command "clean" at the 2:27 mark. Otherwise, follow the video to delete individual partitions.

u made me feel like hackerman, ty x a million
Sadly after doing everything exactly as in the video after initialization of the drive all the partitions are back...
I've tried to delete these partitions (as they're from a broken OS) and copy a healthy OS on this drive. Macrium gave me "Error 8"
When I put delete part 5 override it responds with the argument specified for this command are not valid for more information on the command type help delete partition.

Help
This video is an example of what a UA-cam tutorial should be. The title is short, voice is clear, information is accurate and fast. Thank you, sir.
You're welcome, and thank you - much appreciated.
@Daniel Michael Sounds like you got a serious viral disease.
This video was posted almost 2 years ago. I've been searching for this solution for over a month and this is the clearest tutorial that I've watched. Thank you very much!
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏. Glad you were able to find my video.
When the world needed him most, he was there... Strangely already there for a long time
The year is 2020. A pandemic ravages the globe as social unrest brings about protests and the economy teeters on the brink. But it the middle of it all, this video saved my day. Thank you.
The year is now 2024. The world is on the precipice and the planet is burning, yet this video still saves.
Thanks. Was very helpful and to the point. (unlike other vids where this could take 2 hrs)
Thank you - I was going to have a 1 hour and 55 minute intro, but decided against it :)
It says diskpart cannot delete volumes on removable media
YOU ARE THE BEST, THE VOICE AND INSTRUCTION ARE EXTREMELY CLEAR. HIGH 5 FOR YOU..KEEPING UP....
Many thanks 👍🙏
I've never seen a comment more loud and abnoxius
Extremely informative. Save me a headache. Very clear step by step instructions.
I had a hard drive pulled out of an Ubuntu system but the Linux format partition wouldn’t let it be readable or formatted. Thanks so much for this video.
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏.
You literally saved me so much time and hassle. I took my old HDD out of my HP laptop and replaced it with an SSD hard drive to make my laptop faster. I want to use my old hard drive as an external (portable) hard drive which I can just put into a hard drive enclosure and use as a portable drive. I did exactly what you did on your video and I managed to remove recovery and all other little partitions created by windows on my old hard drive. I can now use it as a portable hard drive with no issues. Great work and thank you for taking time to make this instructional video. Absolute champion 👍🏻👍🏻
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏. Glad you found the video helpful.
As always, very useful, precis, and to the point. Thank you so much
I love this instruction video. The instruction is superb, very clear and concise. No background music that helps me to focus on learning the instruction. Bravo
You have the very best videos I've ever seen. So clear, to the point and easy to understand, I'm AMAZED! I was going nut trying to figure out the partition issues in DISK MANAGEMENT and couldn't find any clear information about it on the web until I ran across your video. I just subscribed and looking forward to learning more from you. You're FANTASTIC, keep up the great videos. And thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Many thanks for the kind words 🙏
Liked! Short and straight to the point. I am in the same boat in wanting to delete an old HD from a dead computer and use it as a backup storage. This tutorial helps me to do that. 2 thumbs up!
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏. Very happy to have you here.
Thank you, you have earned a thumb up
Thank you - much obliged 🎩
Many thanks, it took me a while to really understand how it worked but once I followed your steps I was able to get full access of my SSD.
You're welcome, and thank you for the update 👍
Thanks for the clear, straight to the point and effective explanation video !
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏.
Explanation is so clear so everyone can understand what to do. Awesome man...
Many thanks 👍
Exactly, That's what I was searching about, many thanks..!!
You're welcome, and thank you. I'm glad you were able to find my video.
You are a life savior... I do not need to download crappy apps in the internet that might be a carrier of virus just to fix my hard drive's partition that cannot be deleted using disk management. Thank you so very much. More power. Please do make more videos like this one in fixing the computer. God bless... 😊😊😊
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏
kudos for the tutorial, very well made
Thank you - much appreciated 👍
A wonderfully narrated video, where the narrator has a mellow, reassuring presence in his speech. I haven't used DOS in so long - since the early 80s - that I literally forgot disk partition. Thank you for refreshing my memory. Suggestion: When I began typeing repeat commands, I remembered the valuable use of the old DOSKEY command. Very useful for us poor typists; saves a lot of typing.
Again, thanks ever so much for your expert explanation. It was indeed a pleasure to listen to your soothing voice.
Many thanks 👍🙏 The good news is that the command prompt and even diskpart has features of doskey built-in (for example, the up-arrow to retrieve your previous commands so you don't have to type them again).
@@accessrandom Thanks again, A.R. I just tried it WITHOUT doskey command. Another learning experience. FOR ME!!
Not for nothin', with that mellifluous, articulate voice of yours, you should truly look into voice-over work, you're that good. (Please don't answer this, but I'm praying that my second suggestion has already been explored/fulfilled by you) 😊
My very best wishes to you and your family.
You can skip almost all of that and just do "select disk 0" (or whichever number you have), then execute "clean".
Yes, you can certainly do that to clear the entire disk (which is the use case in the video). I'll add it to the description - thanks.
I had to use this command because that’s how protected those part were override worked on one and not the others lol but clear Just nuke them
this helped me! Thx
Very well explained. I remember when i lost my data during partition deleted by mistake. Then i used Stellar Data Recovery premium for windows to recover. And if i talk about this video you described so well what we have to do during this whole process.
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! This tutorial was easy to follow and extremely helpful. Used your "How to clone an SSD drive using Macrium", it was also very good. Then used this video to delete partitions on the old drive. It was a little scary using DISKPART in the CMD prompt, but your calm instructions got me through it. One thing, I had to seek out another tutorial to partition my newly wiped disk. It was easy using the DISK MANAGEMET tool...a little add on to the de-partition video would be great.
You're welcome, and thank you for the great suggestion 🙏
I appreciate this most valuable info video. I am trying to dual boot with a Linux Distro on a laptop I have rebuilt and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me install on this single HDD. I totally forgot about how limited windows is on that you can only have up to 4 partitions. I had recently reset win 10 and now there are two healthy recoveries.
quick and easy to follow, did exactly what i needed because these extra partitions made the sd card 3 drives in one and it just would not work.
Thank you i needed more space in my C drive..and i thought i would have to re install windows to do that but after watching this video..i deleted all partition and extended my C drive volume thanks again..now my laptop is up to date
Glad to hear you found the video useful. Thank you 👍
Working in 2020! And btw, yall shoud subscribe to this dude. He gets straight to the point unlike other ytbers which takes 15m just to say 'Sorry this does not work' unlike this one who talks for like 30s and gets to the point and short video! TYSM now i can run windows on my external hard drive!!!
i searched 10 different tutorial for my problem, but this was the only one that worked!
Thank you!!
You're welcome, and thank you for the feedback 🙏. Happy to hear that you found the video useful.
i hope i see this video earlier . deleted all part trough wrong commands but now its seem too easy. thanks for this simple knowledge .
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏.
Thank you so much for this connected an SSD with an old Windows 10 install and couldn't remove the partitions associated with the OS, simple and straight to the point to continue what someone below said.
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏👍
It sounds like it may be an older laptop that uses a Winflash utility to flash the BIOS. If you look in the Appendix folder, you should see instructions in a Win Flash PDF. I'll need to consider a new video for older Acer models.
@@accessrandom
I can not delete it on my SSD
You are really awesome. Seriously, this is what I'm talking about... The whole process explained to the letter, clearer than the water (literally speaking) ... Thanks for the video, you explained in step by step in detail. Phenomenal.👍🙏
Excellent, thank you! Very well explained. You completely eliminated the fear, by taking the extra steps with list command options.
You're welcome, and thank you! 🙏
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Helped me solve a problem I've been working on unsuccessfully for several days now.

You're welcome, and thank you 👍 Edited to remove ums and ahs, that really is my voice.
thanks this really helped me and it was straight to the point without the usual "i like the sound of my own voice aint I clever" ramblings of other you tube videos
Thanks for the kind words - much appreciated.
This saved the day and you made it very simple using command prompt.
Happy to help - thanks for the feedback 🙏.
Excellent tutorial on removing disk partitions, thank you. Even though the "Clean" command works too, it's nice to know these steps in the event they are needed using an older OS.
Thanks much!
I much obliged to subscribe only by the quality of this tutorial.
Many thanks 🙏. Very happy to have you here.
Thanks!! I had a problem with one partition and in the end, i could no longer open the partition and i really wanted to use the name that the partition had but i could not delete it from the disk manager nor from the file system, but this worked like a charm!
Thanks for the feedback - glad to hear you found the video helpful 👍

Very helpful. I checked out about 10 others videos, this was the best.
Thank you - much appreciated 🙂
Please make video on that "Free Space into heralthy drive using Diskpart"
Thank you! Simple, easy, well explained. Great pacing. Just what I needed!!!
I maybe a millionth one to say this to you but I surely want to say, thank you. A lot. Clean and solid post.
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏 As long as people take the time to comment, I will take the time to reply :)
Thanks Man U set me in the right direction depending on how your disc is formatted there’s different layouts in to approaching the format Took me all day but I figured it out here was my solution I had to clean the disk in cmd than convert it from fat32 to NTFS IN DISK management than Went to cmd, selected proper volume with the undeletable files and typed (FORMAT RECOMMENDED NOWAIT LABEL=“BOUTDAMNTIME” QUICK OVERRIDE NOERR) had to wait a while LOL then I cleaned the disk again and then typed (FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL=“BOUTDAMNTIME” QUICK COMPRESS) so if it doesn’t work for you guys try this way it works for me
Before the second command I had to go back to disk management format the disc in NTFS then went back to CMD and typed the second command
Thanks for the detailed writeup. This will be helpful for others who encounter this situation.
Thanks. I don't get to use CMD often enough to remember a lot of these old commands anymore. I hate how useless Disk Management is in Windows these days though.
Great and quick video. It helped me delete most of my partitions but the one with a boot on it couldnt be deleted. It's a thorn in my side.
Thank you. What you could do is physically remove then attach it to another computer if possible, and try deleting the partition there. For some reason, your current computer is latching onto the partition, and the currently-running Windows is depending on it for something...
thanks...very2 help me,now my pc can back to windows7...thanks again,2 days i been looking for this, the others video really2 cant been use...good job
You're welcome, and thank you 👍

This was what I was looking for, for more than an hour. Thank you! I'm doing exactly what you described - clean up and old windows laptop hard drive for storing videos and photos.
You're welcome, and thank you. Happy to help. 👍
I had to use this earlier, but the tutorial I was following didn't mention the override. So I got stuck and had to use a third party tool. I wish I had watched this video first!
Your video is really helpful after spending more than one hour i found your video which i exactly want
Thank you so much ❣️
Awesome video, did the job for me!
These things are scary to do and you made it simple! Thanks!

Thanks king! I'm pretty sure I used this guide in the past but it came in handy today wiping a drive that I installed linux onto. I like the idea of dual booting but my PC's been acting up since I did it, hopefully that fixes the issue.
You are the champion my friend 🏆
The best vid tut ever. Definitely what I needed.
A beautiful video with clear details. Thanks, great job.

6-years out and very useful. 🙂
Just to echo the comments of others; nicely put-together video, thanks for your work on this. Really helped me.
Much obliged 🎩 Thank you 👍
Thank you. Easy to understand and without any superfluous information.
You're welcome, and thank you 👍🙏
Thank you! I had a problem, but this video helped me so much!
thank you for a good clear presentation,
dleted most partitions but remained 2 that won't let you.
For those two remaining partitions, there could be some dependency on the currently running Windows system, whether it's an EFI partition or it contains a pagefile. If it's a pagefile, you can remove it by going to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced Tab -> Settings button under Performance -> Advanced Tab -> Change button. If it's latching onto the currently-booted EFI partition, you may need to physically remove the hard drive and attach it to another computer, and run diskpart from there.
very helpful thank man.
Perfect no bs tutorial
Thank you so much. This information is gold ....so well explained
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏.
So simply, thanks!
You're welcome!
This is the only video that helped me, thank you!
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏.
OMG you are amazing! Just got a new laptop and wanted to format the hard drive. Noticed that so much space is being bocked for back ups and I don't need that. Now I can format it all to my convenience. Thank you once again, you're great! :)
You're welcome, and thank you for the kind words 😀
well, using diskpart...instead of all the del part override...try use: clean ...all partitions are gone...its true, one has to convert the disk to gpt, reformat the disk and create the efi partition
thanks you , take care...win10??? hahaha mein lieber Gott...win10
Wow. Wow. Wow. Thanks. So cool. Such fantastic instructions.
You're welcome, and thank you 🙏.
Thank you so much, I was gonna clean the hole hard drive before this video
