Thank you for watching!!
Why does people on here seem to want to bench this girl for what she’s doing. If you don’t like it, turn it off and don’t watch it. I think she’s really really good. The recipe looks great. It’s not right to just sit in people that you wouldn’t do it face-to-face, but you will do it online, when you don’t, you won’t ever see that person. Brave!
She's a putz. And yeah, I will say it to her face. Just tell me when and where.
I made it today. It's in Crockpot right now. The changes I made: I cut the chicken up & browned it in a skillet first....added the salt, pepper, onion, & garlic. Browning the chicken improves both the looks & flavor of the chicken. I know tossing it raw into the Crockpot saves time & dirtying a skillet.....but we're retired & have a dishwasher....so. 😀😀 I rinsed out the soup can by pouring the chicken broth in it first. I used a wild rice mixture. And closer to done time, I'm going to add broccoli as well as cheese.
I think it's going to be DELICIOUS !!!
PS...it's good!
I bet your s turn out so delicious 😊thank you for the tip to brown your chicken
Great looking recipe and very budget minded. One suggestion; as an old grocery store meat department employee, you should never use the cutting edge of your knife to scrape ingredients off your cutting board. Instead, use the back edge to scrape ingredients off the cutting board. This will keep your cutting edge sharp longer. And with a sharp knife, you use less force to cut, reducing the chance of cutting yourself.
Yes that is a good point. It is a bad habit. ;)
This one is on my list for next week, my son eats dinner here 2 or 3 times a week and this will be well liked.
You can also add mushrooms....made it very tasty, too. The broccoli was great when I added it about an hour before done time. Great time saver, while I do laundry and change bedsheets. A cucumber and tomato and onion salad goes great with it, too. Yum.❤
Looks yummy!! We'll give it a go!
Looks great, thankyou. Have a beautiful day. I would love to make this recipe.
Thank you, can't wait to try it!
Almost every Sunday mom would make chicken and rice in the oven. Dhe used full chicken. Have been thinking of making it in crock pot her way but never have. She always used cream of mushroom.
Looks tasty, Thanks for sharing.
Just made it, taste great! Thank you
I bought a pastry scraper to transfer cut veggies with. I love it!
Just made this and thank you so cheap so nice and a great meal pre. I did do white rice doe as I don't like brown rice. Was full of flavour
Looks delicious
Absolutely delicious
Really appreciate the recipe - I am a kitchen chemist but its good to have the basics to build from. Thank you and you are very lovely
Looks very similar to an oven recipe my mom used to make. The biggest differences that I noticed (apart from oven vs. crock pot), she used cream of mushroom soup instead of cream of chicken, she added paprika alongside the salt and pepper, and she didn't have cheese. I'd wager that some combination of this recipe and mom's would be amazing.
EDIT: Not saying that this recipe doesn't look amazing, itself!
I used cream of chicken with herbs... Delicious
Looks delicious, and so easy!
I can’t wait to try this 😊
I use your recipes all the time , great channel , keep up the great content !!
I'm so glad you are loving them!
Looks nice
Some vegetables would be good in it thanks for sharing
Awww I wanted to see a close up of the results.
Yum!
I just made it and loved it!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I made this today and it was fabulous thank you so much
My rate is 10 out of 10
I made it today and it come out awesome. Great recipe.
Yum yum😊
Yummy good
yummy good
Sounds great! Where did you purchase your hand grater? Thank you. 🙋♀️
You're cooking it all together so there's no cross contamination.
True, unless you’re not using the whole onion.
Love your channel and recipes ❤
Thank you!!
Looks delicious 😋. I'm going to make it, just going to add broccoli 🥦 😋
Thanks for sharing from West Texas. I liked, subbed, and hit the bell2 🔔
For quick clean up use crockpot liners!
We love our crockpot recipes & those liners are a lifesaver!!
Can't wait to try this recipe.
How lazy can one be, lol. No offence.
I would add celery and mushrooms to this, gonna make it this week dont have brown rice so guess it will be white, yum
This is great! My only question is about the "cross-contamination" of the knife and cutting board. If you are cooking all the ingredients that is not an issue. You just threw the cut onions on the raw chicken. Using another knife just dirtied another utensil.
As for the cheese I found if you rinse the shredded cheese before cooking it actually melts so much better. I was shocked. I understand they put some kind of starch on it to keep it from clumping and sticking together in the package
I understand pre shredded also contains preservatives used due to air in the bag. I have a handy easy to clean shredder. I prefer to do my own. We already have too many chemicals in the food we eat.
Thanks to you both..❤
Hope it works out i just put it on .. and i had to use 2 cups of beef broth and 1 cup of chicken broth & i used yellow saffron rice instead of white or brown rice..
First time watching a recipe.....I noticed you scraping the board with your knife, a tip to help your knife, turn it blade side up and then you don't dull it by scrapping things off the board. Other than that, good video, I will go check out your channel! Thanks for sharing!
Looks delish!
There is no cross contamination of ingredients on a cutting board if they are all going into the same cooking vessel.
This looks delicious! 😋☺️ Question if I may.... I don't have an electric crockpot, but _do_ have a terracotta as well as a cast iron slowcooker. I'm guessing I can use these, but at what temperature should I cook it at and for how long?
Thanks in advance ☺️
Yes you can use either one of these
One can do it all in rice cooker I have tasted good😊
Knife skills (holding properly), cross contamination awareness even when cooking at home is paramount! Hand shredded cheese point - fantastic! Preshredded cheese has a paraffin coating to prevent clumping in the bag. Will try this recipe and I'm pleased to finally discover a UA-cam cook with skills (especially knife skills) and knowledge [minus the hair scratching, flimsy spoon, and dogs in the kitchen] Nevertheless, new fan here! 🤩
I’m headed to the store, I’m going to try this tonight. every other chicken and rice recipe that I’ve made on here is way way too salty. So this time I’m buying reduce sodium chicken broth and reduce sodium cream of chicken soup and hope I have better results.
I usually eat on two nickles
Some hatch chilis would be awesome in this dish.
Can white rice be used instead of brown
Can cream cheese be added to make it creamy as well as cheesey? When shouid I add it?
For heavens sake, people! So many snarky remarks about her utensils, etc! If you can't say something positive then keep scrolling!
Just making it, will be ready in 1 hour, I'll let you know and I'm Kerry too
I have made this before. Recipe by someone else, not sure who and was dissapointed. I even bought Organic Brown Rice for it. I THINK it was similar to my dislike of Rissotto, cos I do not like sloppy/soggy/sticky rice.
I am inclined to treat this as a Chicken (using the shreaded Chicken already shown) with White Rice along with all of those extra veg you mention. Frozen in portion sizes. I would miss out the cheese. Excepting Omlette, Pizza and Cheese on Toast I prefer my cheese as cheese. Always been puzzled by American (USA type) obsession with adding it to everything.
I would think the cheese would be so sickly that you’d only need a couple of tsp for dinner to fill you up. The leftovers would last you a month or more hence the term Eating on a Dime.
@@debradickson7816 Not sure about the 'sickly' bit but I have never understood the America penchant for adding cheese to almost everything they cook. I love cheese in all of its smelly, hard, soft and fusty forms and often in cooked form but selectively. i.e. 'Au Gratin', Pizza, omlette, cheese on toast, with bacon and apple, even in a soup but that one is a cheese soup so you would expect that :-), however, not wholesale.
If you need to 'hide' the onions, puree/liquify them with soup in a mini chopper.
Glad I found you can u use quinoa instead of rice.
I used saffron rice because that’s what I had on hand…
Looks good. Kinda missing the mushrooms and green onions ... put in when the cheese is added.
I recently found that when you shred cheese instead of buying already shredded it's got way more flavor.
Yes and better for you
Just substituting Cream of Celery soup for the Cream of Chicken will give it a bit of an Asian taste...
How many boneless/skinless chicken thighs would I have to use inplace of chicken breasts
I've seen 100's of videos for slow cooker recipes and not a single one ever mentions the size of the crockpot they're using!
I can't use a big one, mones a 3 qt. It's only my hubby and I now.
Her cutting boards and knifes not our business
Can you use chicken tenders ?
No
I don't see why you couldn't. Tenders are breast in strips. Your going to dice them anyway.
What about yellow rice?
Brown rice is harder to digest but i see what your saying regarding the recipe.
Think I would like it better with cream of mushroom rather than cream of chicken
Brown rice is higher in lectins, I prefers white rice.
Question Rice rinsed or not?
Yes you can rinse the rice
Shredded cheese contains cellulose, which is wood pulp. That’s why it doesn’t melt like block cheese.
No, it’s cellulose, one of many components of wood pulp. It isn’t wood pulp. Salt is a component of bread, but salt isn’t bread.
I love block cheese better.
Dont want to cross contaminate the onion.... proceeds to add the onion to the raw chicken.
The cross contamination any germs will be in extremely hot temperatures so it will be fine.
I'm going to try this recipe. But I'll be using a spoon that doesn't bend. 😃
haha! I know! I need to let this old spoon go.
@@EatingonaDime Update. I made this and it was delicious. Thanks for the recipe and video.
I think I'll try it with homestyle gravy instead of creamed soup. I don't care for the artificial taste of the soups.
Tell me if I’m wrong but, didn’t you cross contaminate when you mixed the onions with the raw chicken anyhow? Go ahead use same knife and cutting board, makes no difference it all ends up in crock pot. Less dishes.
So why comment if it makes no difference
She was using only half the onion. That’s the point of contamination. I usually prep veggies before cutting meat so that it truly doesn’t matter.
Can I use frozen chicken breasts?
Yes, but defrost, drain, and pat them with a few paper towels first.
I don’t like mushy rice! 🍚
I love cooked rice but, Dry rice
You don’t season the chicken?
I don't understand the cross contamination stuff. Everything is going int he same pot and all utensils are cleaned at the end
Why all the hate and condescending posts? This is why people call us Karen’s bc of people like you! Instead of “educating” her, 🙄 perhaps you can pursue learning manners and class?
I think I leave the cheese out
Yes it will still be tasty.
I don't know about anyone else, but that spoon... That poor spoon...Darned near bent itself backwards trying to get something out of that pot.
My suggestion is getting a stiffer spoon, possibly a stainless steel spoon from some food service set (Sam's has them).
I'll be trying this some other day. Tonight's dinner is "smash" burgers. BUT... It looks delicious, highly customizable, and good for meal prep. Being married to a nurse is trying sometimes. Dinners at the strangest hours, on days when I really don't feel like moving, much less cooking (arthritis will do that to a person).
Girl throw that spoon out it’s so flimsy
Is it possible to omit the cream of chicken and just use like a chicken bouillon for flavor I cannot eat the cream of chicken due to gluten. Most of the meals I see that are very easy contain condensed soups. Please help from your not so good of a cook😅
She has a gluten free cream of chicken soup recipe, look it up. Hope this helps 😊
Campbells sells a non-gluten cream of chicken soup, I saw it today when I was getting my cream of chicken soup for this recipe.
Thank you all for your responses. I actually ordered off of Walmart the gluten-free Campbell's! Such useful replies!
Your poor spoon 😳
From my Mom: Do you ever just "recommend"?
im almost 60 and i dont eat onions, and i stop eating when people try to sneak them in. 💩🤢🤮🤮💀☠☠
I’m with you about the onions. If they’re in there I know it.
Throw that spoon away and buy a new one.
You looking at the prompter/monitor was off-putting. Looks like you are looking at someone behind me. Not engaging.
What no carrots n mushrooms? 😡
WTH is the sawing motion of boneless skinless chicken breast with a chef’s knife? Recipe is fine but for shelling out recipe videos I’m surprise at the lack of basic skills.
If you absolutely have to scrape your food of the board please use the back side of the blade.
🙄🤫
How about YOU create your own video let us critic your perfectionism.
Shut up Karen! Go bother your neighbor, rumor has it he has a Trump 2024 sign in his yard for you to steal! 😂😂😂
Her kitchen her way your kitchen your way ...
Good point - basic kitchen safety. A dull knife is a dangerous knife. Using the back edge of the blade doesn't dull the cutting edge and you don't have to sharpen the back edge.
Whoa girl...ease up on the "I highly recommend" just saying!😊
How many more people have to show their version of crockpot chicken and rice?🤦♂️
😂 lol yeah right good comment!!!
My goodness that cheap plastic spoon was so distracting. Has it broke yet?
She is ruining her knife
You had me up until the cheese 🤢
Sorry, but it’s not looks is very appetizing. Maybe this recipes on budget side, but when I saw the final resultant, I didn’t want to cook it.
It tastes a lot better than it looks. It looks like a casserole and those don’t always look the best
Cross contamination.... you're putting it all in the same pot. It's gonna all mix and cook together anyway.
Zero knife skills…
Sorry but it doesn't look that great ill stay to my old fashion chicken and rice....👌🏻
“If you’re really lazy you can use frozen onions”……. Since when is getting onions on sale or from a local farm, chopping and freezing them, lazy? Or buying them frozen to begin with? Why is this your definition of lazy??? Isn’t this eating on a DIME? last i checked, since when is being frugal, or using shortcuts, lazy??? Especially if you work or have other responsibilities? Watch your words in relation to your content.
Christ. Wash the board and wash the knife, woman. The kitchen counter space in your freaking video is about 10 times the entire kitchen counter space in my 480 square foot apartment. I don't have the space or the funds to buy multiple boards or knives. I do, however, have hot water and the funds to buy dish soap. My cutting board also has two usable sides and YOURS does not. That means I can cut meat on one side and veggies on the other! Eating on a dime? Hardly when you are spending twice as much on equipment.
So what
